I love this scene. Batman explains before the fight that in the original fight he was using pure strength, and he had to accept that he's not the batman he used to be and has to adapt. Therefore, he switches his strategy up and starts acting like, well, batman.
His inner monologue in the original comic (he does it AS he is fighting the Leader), he says in the first fight he was trying to match his savagery and strength, to 'fight like a young man'-- and you're exactly right, he switches it up to match his own weaknesses and the Mutant Leader's strengths-- the Leader has strength? Batman has skill and experience (a more technique-heavy fighting style, rather than just the mostly brute strength approach the Leader uses). The leader has speed? Name me another batman villain that physically gives batman a run for his money. This character's problem is he's kind of dim witted. Vicious and brutal, but still dim witted. Bane combines this character with the usual super villain intellect. Just my 2 cents.
Oddy the thing I liked best about this scene is that he took off his cape, because it just shows that he really has thought this through and even though its animated you wouldn't believe that cape not getting in the way with all the mud weighing him down. coz really the cape is just a hindrance in any fight he's in realistically. It just shows he isn't fucking around with him.
+Jack Hartnett It's not exactly a hindrance in ANY fight. His cape actually has multiple functions. If often confuses opponents when he's dodging (so they'll shoot at his cape thinking it's his body) and conceals his hands for when he wants to pull something out of his belt without someone knowing. For more practical uses, Batman opens his cape to control his falling momentum when he wants to land on something/someone and he often covers himself with it for protection from fire and shrapnel. It's a little more than just a fashion choice :D.

I just want to point out how brilliant what Batman did here was. -He fights him in a mud hole: This considerably reduces the gap in their speed, as Batman is better equipped to move through the mud. Likewise it gives him an escape route if he ever found himself in trouble -Seemingly missing the elbow: For those who don't know, if you're trying to make somebody bleed in a fight, you don't want to catch them flush with an elbow, you want to glance them with the point of the elbow. It bleeds a lot faster that way. If you catch them flush it hurts so much more, but a cut right above the eyes makes it incredibly hard to see and function. Plus a glancing elbow is very hard to defend. -Aiming for the nose: You ever been hit in the nose? Makes your eyes water a whole lot. Makes it even harder to see. -Using dirty tactics throughout: Only an idiot fights fair in a real fight. If there's any advantage you can have in a real fight? You take that as soon as you can. If your opponent has an advantage? Take it away in whatever way you can. Best Batman fight scene ever.
On top of that Leader’s nose was already bandaged so it was an additional weak spot. Not to mention you forgot him taking out one arm by aiming for a nerve cluster in his deltoid muscle

In this case batman has the upper hand against the leader. And besides the way he was breaking different parts of the leader body, was kind of like a surgeon dissecting a humans body open to me.

Imagine how terrified criminals would be knowing that they risk going to the hospitals with destroyed arms, broken and dislocated legs, and busted noses. Probably be a lot less crime.

This is The Batman. The one that gives YOU nightmares. I respect Christian Bale...but his Batman was not so scary, especially in the third movie. This old guy right here? Mean. Nasty. Precise. Brutal. Willing to go into a mud hole just to prove a point and leave an indelible mark. And he took his cape off for that. This wasn't about looking cool. Or looking heroic. This was about scaring the crap out of you. And making you respect and fear him, even though you hate him. This. Is. The Batman.
I hope that because BvS is somewhat inspired by this film, Afflecks Batman will be like something we have never seen before in live action. Batman. A ture Batman. A Batman that we see as a hero, and yet are also scared of. One that strikes fear into the hearts of criminals, and one that we respect as one of the smartest people on the planet, the best non superpowered fighter, and one that is brutal in his methods. I want to see why criminals fear this man in a spandex bat costume!

In my opinion, this fight was one of the most brutal and violent fights in the entire DC Animated Universe, but it was such an awesome and satisfying fight to watch. The fight with the Joker in part 2 was a close second, but this one was personal and nasty and a true reminder that just because Batman is old doesn't mean he can't kick major ass.

hand-to-hand combat, and tactical maneuvers. reading the mutant's movement throughout the fight and already figured out how to dissect him, like he did on the "operating table". and Batsie calling him son, simply a classic. took his lil ass to school!! Dark Knight for the win!!
Best bit for my money was the attention to detail they put into Batman's strikes - He almost NEVER hit anything that wasn't either a vital organ or likely to break bone.
Unfortunately, after this, Frank got way too much into the noir feel of Sin City and the craziness of 300, which led to such piles of garbage as The Dark Knight Strikes Again, ASBAR, The Dark Knight Returns III, and Holy Terror.

They could have made it a lot more epic than two guys fighting in front of an building avoiding, dodging, and trading blows. They should have made it like you said. This is what the final fight between Batman vs Bane in the Dark Knight Rises should have been like. A planned out strategic fight instead of Batman fighting the guy that crippled him in the same fashion that got him fucked up in the first place. He got a lucky hit that lead him to best Bane. If it wasn't for that, Batman would have been crippled again for a 3rd time!
He went for Bane's mask multiple times, and finally scored the hit he was looking for. Could he have been more strategic? Always, but he went for Bane's weakness and nailed it.
This is how Batman should've beaten bane in Rises... Using his intelligence to weaken Bane to get the upper hand to go for the mask and all the while humiliating Bane

Say what you will about BvS but affleck against all expectations nailed it as batman, esp in the climax when he visits lex in the jail, that is frank miller's batman on screen. Brutal, primal, scary.

"okay supes, you ain't too bad.." credits. Now imagine if they did the BvS fight after all the studio's planned (not necessarily announced) justice league movies and related superhero solo movies. So if they made BvS the very last movie of the current gen, in a situation where anything goes... anything could happen, the audience truly has no idea who will win. Marvel's Civil War is a bit better placed within its timeline.

If Batman is trying to get through to Jason then it would have been the worst thing possible he could have done and would have just made him hate Bruce more, then he wouldn't have helped him out later.

I wouldn't say arkhamverse DS is a joke. He is certainly depowered from the comic book version, but he's still formidable. Comic book DS is almost twice as strong as captain america and a good amount faster, so arkhamverse deathstroke is actually pretty comparable to comic book cap. comic DS can lift 2000 lbs, Cap can do 1100, and batman can do 1000. Cap is more skilled in h2h than slade but not enough to beat batman. If batman can beat comic book DS even once (batman won 1 out of their 3 fights), he can beat captain america.

He defeated Deathstroke with help and while he was distracted. Besides Deathstroke beat Batman at least on two accounts. I had one of those comics. A clone of Doomsday is far less formidable than the real thing. Not taking away anything from Batman. He's the Batman but even Bruce can't beat everyone. Batman won because he didn't rely in brute strength he relied on technique I know this is just a cartoon but if you look at real life examples of old judo masters they could kick your ass without even breaking a sweat which is what batman did here.
Despite the age, the reflexes and muscle memory still carry the technique, although they might be slower, with less power, the timing and precision still remain

In my opinion, this fight was one of the most brutal and violent fights in the entire DC Animated Universe, but it was such an awesome and satisfying fight to watch. The fight with the Joker in part 2 was a close second, but this one was personal and nasty and a true reminder that just because Batman is old doesn't mean he can't kick major ass.

They could have made it a lot more epic than two guys fighting in front of an building avoiding, dodging, and trading blows. They should have made it like you said. Where Batman adapts to what he has seen and counter a lot of it.

This is what the final fight between Batman vs Bane in the Dark Knight Rises should have been like. A planned out strategic fight instead of Batman fighting the guy that crippled him in the same fashion that got him fucked up in the first place. He got a lucky hit that lead him to best Bane. If it wasn't for that, Batman would have been crippled again for a 3rd time!

Well let's just step back, Arkhamverse Batman is essentially comic book Batman and since Cap has no video game counterpart (unless you count that arkham rip off tie in movie game) then you should use comic Cap whom is basiclly Deathstroke with better h2h feats. Arkhamverse Deathstroke is a joke.
I wouldn't say arkhamverse DS is a joke. He is certainly depowered from the comic book version, but he's still formidable. Comic book DS is almost twice as strong as captain america and a good amount faster, so arkhamverse deathstroke is actually pretty comparable to comic book cap. comic DS can lift 2000 lbs, Cap can do 1100, and batman can do 1000. Cap is more skilled in h2h than slade but not enough to beat batman. If batman can beat comic book DS even once (batman won 1 out of their 3 fights), he can beat captain america.

Batman won because he didn't rely in brute strength he relied on technique I know this is just a cartoon but if you look at real life examples of old judo masters they could kick your ass without even breaking a sweat which is what batman did here.
Despite the age, the reflexes and muscle memory still carry the technique, although they might be slower, with less power, the timing and precision still remain
