And this scene that foreshadowed how loyal and special Kuribara would be in the series going forward. We barely had a scene with him in this first episode, and even before he became a Spirit world ally along side Yusuke and the eventual growing cast, you can feel how much the green uniform punk meant to him. Even at a point when they weren’t technically friends yet, wow. Chris Salbat really poured his heart and soul in his performance with this loyal goofball of a street fighter. Definitely one of Funimation’s first S tier English dubs, and this was as they were still recording their OG dub of DBZ in house I believe too

I always liked how ghost Usuke has a lighter color palette.

I do like how this was changed from the manga, where it was played as a joke. Instead, you really get to see how it's not as much about Kuwabara's machismo as he's pretending and he actually is just sad to lose the closest thing he had to a best friend.

There is no anime that hits the feels quite like Yu Yu Hakusho. So underrated compared to other shonen. It’s my all time favorite shonen personally.
