The one-pot meal looks yummy, just adding that sour cream on it was a winner! Emmie, I have been meaning to mention this before, but your hair is looking beautiful!! I so wanted to have long hair all my life, but it is very fine and as straight as a pin! Really envy your hair and it always looks lovely.

That was a great haul Emmy 👍 It's shocking how prices are rising with petrol and food, we've had a petrol crisis here in the UK over the past week or so and some petrol stations were charging nearly twice the normal price! It definitely pays to pay even closer attention to the prices and the small print.

I grew up with family from Yugoslavia. Our neighbor would make pigs in the blanket and before she had dinner with her family she would call me over and I was in seventh heaven eating hers. Sure miss them. Will be making this recipe thank you for a memory of my youth.

A cabbage recipe my grandma gave to me (I think it's very German, too, lol!): put a small cabbage in quarters, two peeled potatoes for every person, a certain kind of sausage (it's called Mettenden in Germany, you need one per person), a slice of bacon and a chopped up onion in a big pot. Add water until everything is merely covered, let it cook 45 minutes. Sooo good! And it often lasts two days.

I did a grocery haul yesterday at 2 of my local grocery stores after going thru those circulars, getting digital and paper coupons. Wow!!! On the gas station trick…I would not have been a happy camper lol. You are so right we have to be vigilant. I make something similar to what you made called cabbage roll soup. I have always used the rice and mine is a little more “soup” texture. I use tomato juice instead of canned tomatoes. I have heard of people using V8 juice, but to me that would add too much sodium. Excellent meal for anytime of year. I was very interested in your freezing cabbage technique. I have always canned our extra cabbage we grow in our garden, I have never frozen it 🤔 hmmm . Can you do a video in the future of how you use that frozen cabbage in a recipe? I would be so happy to see that. 😀😀 Beautiful haul and the footage of PA was gorgeous. Thanks for all you and Paul do to share with us. 🙏🏻♥️

Gas stations here in CNY have been playing that game for years. My hubby and I regularly visit a Gulf gas station near us that only charges 2.99 for cash when you use your debit card. We always try to go there. Its even cheaper than stations who give discounts if you are a " member." Loved the tips on freezing cabbage. I didn't know you could freeze it! I definitely will be doing that from now on. I love that recipe and make it a lot in the fall. I also add some cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice to it for some fall flavor and maybe even a few chunks of apple! So good! Thanks for the video 😁 Can't wait til Fridays!!!

Too funny! My unstuffed cabbage soup was almost exactly the same Emmy! 🤣 The recipe I used called for 1 chopped green bell pepper, 1tsp each of thyme and oregano, 1Tbsp Worcestershire, 2 cups of beef broth and 1 & 1/2 cups of V8 (I used ShopRite vegetable juice). It came out great BUT the rice absorbed a lot of the liquid. It is no longer a soup!!! I did add a bit more rice than the recipe called for. It sure made a lot! will cook the rice separately when I make it again. Great buys at ShopRite. You got some of the same deals I got. Hmmm 😉Lol!

My local gas station that I use all the time.....I finally downloaded their app to save 5 cents per gallon. First fill up was 10 cents off per gallon. I can sync it to my card or go in and pay cash. It isn't much of a saving, but it will add up in a year. I absolutely hate gimmics like this to save a little, but I did sign up for this one.

Hi Emmy and Paul. In California, we have Costco gas. They only take cards and give you 4 percent back if you use the Costco card. I can go online and check the price before filling up. Sometimes the neighboring town is less. If I'm going that way anyways, it makes sense to stop there. I know you don't have Costco but maybe somewhere near you there is a similar option. Take care and I enjoyed your video.

Wonderful haul at Shoprite and Lancaster. I live in Central NY and we have farms. It was so nice to see the farms. I grew up on one. In Central NY they charge 10 cents extra for credit.

Emmy Lol! I just made the same meal tonite for dinner. I used half pound fried hamburger onions cabbage diced tomatoes from the garden and leftover rice with taste of chili garlic sauce. My husband said it didn't look good but it tasted good. He was surprised 😃

Love this video! Your meal looks like the home cooking I grew up with and then served my own family - yum! You gave Diva Dixie the day off?

Yes, Dixie can't have too much air time or she demands more money aka treats lol!!

Such beautiful scenery! I make a similar beef cabbage skillet, but don't add rice and add cheese (it is pretty low carb then). I bet it would be good with sour cream! We are doing good with the clean-up part of your challenge. The garage is actually presentable now. 😅 We fell off the wagon with cooking at home this weekend (I was too tired to cook after all the cleaning) but we are getting back on the home-cooking wagon. Not only is it better for our budget, but we feel better too!

Loved the meal! I too had made that last fall, so so much easier that making my family’s traditional Polish stuffed cabbage rolls! I think I had even made it using some reduced bulk Italian sausage I had gotten….

Lancaster looks beautiful, I love the farmland scene. My mum used to cook stuffed cabbage with rice and ground beef. In Australia the cost of gas is the same for cash or card .

Our gas stations have been doing this cash/credit deal for a while. I don’t like it but like to use my gas card for convenience. We went up in the mountains last weekend to pick mushrooms and noticed a gas station 10 cents a gallon less than in town ($3.89!...Washington state) so we filled up on our way home then went to work processing 10 pounds of Chanterelles!!!

I'm not a raisin gal but I need the potassium. I actually prefer the golden raisins. Absolute fav are the crasins. Too expensive on the shelf, but I can make my own unsweetened with whole cranberries and my dehydrator. Love your cooking videos!

Hi Emmy, I was shocked at the the price difference of cash v card. I live in the UK and as far, as I'm aware, this doesn't happen over here...yet. We're in the middle of a fuel shortage at the pumps and the prices are going up anyway so people are being a bit more wise with their travelling. I always enjoy your posts and do get a lot out of them so thank you. I will definitely be trying your one pot meal, the weather is getting colder here and it looks so warming. Take care both of you.
