Carbon buildup on the intake valves won't happen here because of you having multi point direct injection. I also love that it has a timing chain ⛓️ instead of a timing belt.
@@sharkiesgirl8929 a car that has no fuel filter? Please explain. Do you mean a secondary fuel filter? Do you mean an inline fuel filter? It has to have a fuel filter. I lost a vehicle because of a broken timing belt. It was a Jeep Liberty. What a scam. Why any engineers would put a rubber band for a timing belt is beyond me. Other than the fact that it's another way for them to make money on us. All cars need to go back to timing chains!
yeah cuz majority of americans are too lazy to shift gears...i just had to order my 2022 nissan versa s with a manual...hopefully it will get here before summer this time.
i have a manual and i love it, but if we are honest here automatics are faster almost as efficient and in practice do get better gas mileage due to the absence of torque converters and short shifting and they do last longer because clutches last for 70k while if you change your ATF every 2 years your auto could last 200k
Great to see a manual. In Canada you can get the Sentra base & SR trim with manuals - also the Kia Rio LX and Forte LX come with manual on the base up here too.
Haha so this was actually filmed in February, I just have a huge backlog of videos. This also means that come January or February, I will be posting videos where it was 90 degrees and sunny, so it really goes both ways
It is mind-boggling why American society has given up on the manual transmission! There are so many pros and not enough cons! Automatics are for lazy people. Another main reason why automatics are becoming popular. So all these idiots can be on social media with their right hands while they steer with their left hands! That's why nobody wants standards.
I saw one of the 2019s pull up one day when I was pumping gas. It blew my mind Nissan still made a semi compact manual. Most manuals i see are Wranglers, F250s and Tacomas.
I'm gonna look back at this video and miss the manuals once they're gone for good 😢 You never know what's out there that's available right now until it's too late 3 years later
I just picked up a 2014 Nissan Versa Note with the same gear box. Dirt simple and durable fun car. Not sure why only 4% of cars sold in the US have manual transmissions.
people are lazy, and honestly from what I HAVE SEEN, most people just don't give driving or cars in general a chance. since the US is completely car dependent, why not try to find some way to make the unavoidable tolerable?
Honestly I would directly compare this to the latest Toyota Yaris iA, I personally haven’t driven the new versa with the 5 speed but I’m assuming it has more get up and go than the Yaris
The 2021 Versa uses gen 3 version of a 1.6L engine, it's made by Renault. It's very reliable if you maintain it, regular oil changes, no hard driving into high RPMs, etc. I own an 11 year old gen 1 Versa with 4-speed AT, 149,000 miles, runs like new, everything original OEM, including original automatic transmission, only had to replace radiator at 142k miles ($89 DIY), but I drive it softly and maintain it myself. Love the car. Thinking of getting the 2021 manual 5 speed. My goal with cars is to buy the simplest, least expensive car, and keep them for as long as I can. My first car was a Hyundai Excel manual transmission, paid $6,300 new, kept it 16 years. Second car was a new 1994 Nissan 300ZX manual, 27 years later, I still own it!! Then I bought a Nissan Versa which I still own, runs like new with 149k miles. I hate spending money on new fancy cars with technology I don't need. I rather spend money on new experiences, creating new memories with family, and traveling. I've never spent more than $83 per month for total cost of ownership, including car price and repairs! I never buy a car based on emotions like competing with the Joneses or because I need the latest technological bells and whistles. My bank account loves it!
@Not Sure Only 35mpg for a manual Versa? I'm a little disappointed in those numbers. My '04 Civic gets 42 in manual and I was hoping this would do better.
@@ptaweston you sir are a dying breed. Kids nowadays think that a "smart choice" is buying a 45k Tacoma or 4Runner. People spend ungodly amounts of money on new cars and trade them in at 2 years of ownership. Glad to see somebody that actually takes full advantage of ownership of a vehicle. Great advice and honestly the right way to spend money on a brand new car.
I have the 2016 5sp. I'm lazy and in 6 years never bothered to write down how much gas I bought and the mileage then do simple math, instead relying on the onboard puter which currently says 41.6mpg. I have 81000mi now and after the first 5k break-in it has always gotten 41-42.8. It has been 100% reliable. Only oil changes, air filter, wipers, 1 new battery and new tires last year. The only issue, not sure if it's mine only or a common wiring issue is the driver side headlight I've replaced twice in 6 years. No other bulbs just that one. Another reason to love the car is the bulb is $8 and old school DIY simple, unplug old bulb, plug in new one. Many other cars today would require a stupid $1k LED assembly. For what? fk led lights
I’ve test driven a few ‘21s. It is a 5 speed and it is geared low. At 60mph on flat ground in 5th you’re turning over 3500rpm and mpg reads low 30s. Good for 1990s standards but not any modern mpg standards. I’d imagine 70 is closer to 4K rpm which is pretty loud buzzing. I will say he is right; the manual is fun and easy for the anemic engine it is. I would suggest testing the Kia Forte in manual as it has a 6 speed and is rated overall better. But I did enjoy driving the Versa. It is an economical get around car and the maintenance would be a breeze as the oil filter is right underneath engine in front. You can almost reach it by putting hand under there. And wheels are 4 lug and light so tire rotation would be a breeze. Definitely has its merits
@@edgaryzen4925 it is possible within certain parameters; speed, wind, octane rating in fuel, etc. I have just talked to too many people and have come to the conclusion that while it is possible, it is not fun to baby it in order to touch 40mpg. My 2 cents
I’ve had the versa for over a year now and it does fine on the highway. If I remember correctly 70 is still at 3250rpm ish. Keep in mind that it revs to around 6000. I love the car. I think 80 it starts to get around 4000rpm. I have hit 110 before lol.
Thank you Nissan for still making this car.

only* at this point
as of october '22, *This and the Impreza are the last two five speeds in North America*
update as of end of december '22, the impreza drops the 5-speed, the versa is the last one.
What's the real mpg of the manual transmission?
Who makes the versa engine? How is the reliability on the versas? Are they in the shop all the time?

😂 that little transmission whining like an old Ford transmission! I bet it broke in after a few thousand miles and quieted down.
1st gear does that, it's normal
It looks fairly decent on the outside but oh my god the interior, it looks embarrassing on the inside so so cheap looking

I like that it is a very subdued interior. Reminds me a bit of the first gen Miata interior but with a touch screen.
