Very nice outfit. Having both a new car and caravan must be like technology overload. The Caravan and Motorhome Club CLs vary from basic to all singing and dancing. Enjoy your UK tour. 👍🏻😁 Trev n Sue
Hi Trev n Sue. That is so well put! Felt like there was plenty to learn at the start, but getting the hang of it now. Good to know there are CL differences😀
Firstly I would like to say a big warm Welcome to the UK. Looking forward to following your adventures whilst you are here. I am sure you will be helped along the way, if needed and also sometimes if not, by the amazing Caravan, and Motorhome, community that we have here and I I know that there will be many opportunities to meet up with many of its members. Fantastic that Bailey, we are also Bailey owners, stepped in to loan you such a great Caravan to use whilst you are here. Enjoy your travels and time here and keep the great vlogs coming.
I am very impressed by the caravan you have on loan for your trip. Top marks to Bailey for forward thinking and the value of their products appearing in your videos and for the valuable feedback I'm sure you will give them at the end of the trip. The cost of caravans compared to cars seems to have widened over the years (unless I'm very out of touch) I was expecting this model to cost a lot more than it is. Loving all your videos Karen, I'm catching up still!! I will get there!
I’ve been surprised as the cost of caravans here vs how much they cost in NZ!! The down side of living on the other side of the world. Bailey & Peugeot really have been amazing with lending me this set-up. It’s made this trip amazing!
I looked at a small trailer before I got mine and the sink and fridge were in a slide. It made for a space behind the sink that was huge. Easily big enough for a crock pot AND a toaster oven. Being it was the corner of a slide, it had windows on two sides (fridge was in left corner) It even had this shelf/hook arrangement for plants! To bad it had a very small wet bath.
Hi, I have just found your channel. I am glad you got to Chatsworth as it’s one of our favourite sites with the great little door onto the estate. I had a thought about you packing the caravan as one thing we always do is have one saucepan that you can put in 3 stainless steel inserts , two with holes for veg and one solid for potatoes etc. You can then have the benefit of using the pan on it’s own or adding the little pots. You can buy the inserts online, but check the dimensions of your one saucepan to make sure all three go in. Saves quite a lot of space as they all snuggle together in your cupboard under the stove. Good luck with your travels, hope you can make it to Scotland? Good wishes from a fellow caravan Pamela
Checking out certified (5 sites as they are often called) is a great idea. Some fantastic little locations. Have several near myself and a couple have amazing views. I appreciate not being your own van you are restricted as to how you can prep up but some good sturdy feet for corner steadies and a few sturdy pieces of thick timber are useful as many sites can be uneven. Milenco do some great wheel wedges to help even out your van. Kitting your van with a good solar panel system is incredibly useful, almost essential and a small, low noise suitcase generator is very handy. Getting off grid can be great fun. Enjoy.
Yes I've stayed at a couple of CL sites and really enjoy them! Plenty of space and quiet too. I've been surprised that each one has power options too?!
Welcome to the uk. .I think the van you have is the best from bailey caravans. .I would need a bitter tow then the one I have ..enjoy your stay here. ..Alan. .

Yes the 13pin plugs can be a bit tricky. Thought Bailey would had given you a van with a motor mover. Shower will be good as the van is fitted with an on board pump have good holiday
Im impressed with the layout but also the finishes the "low sheen" finishes and neutral colours make it for me. I ruled out a caravan as an option for myself because the latest caravans seem to use glossy finishes with colour schemes that cant be worked with. This makes them look cheap and flimsy. But this one has really nice finishes more like ones youd find in a house and it just makes it feel more robust. That window is a great design too love the living space and kitchen and bedroom. Two months wow that was nice of them cant wait to see the footage. :)
I agree that they've done a great job with the interior look. I've noticed that the Australian vans seems to go full on glossy services and brilliant white walls which doesn't feel as homely to me.
Hiya Karen, the taps are open because when you leave a site and flip the switch to drain down the system it stops air locks and helps drain the water. Just remember to close them again before turning the pump on. Easy mistake I have done it. 😁
Hopefully you got the USB charging sorted. You need to leave the light switch in the control panel by the door switched on and then you can turn 9j and off the lights using their individual switches. Once you have done that the USB ports will be active. The other trick with the lights us there are two above the big front window and it seems that they can't be turned off!! There is a switch on the underside of the cupboard next to the radio I love my 640 and would live in it full time if I got a chance.

Wow, I love that caravan layout! I'm quite jealous. Also I miss the CLs that you can use in the UK. Some are really lovely, and often cared for by really kind owners. (Now living in Spain)
@@TravellingK I've only used 2 sites so far in Spain. Also done a bit of boondocking in the north of Spain last month. That was fabulous. Mostly I'm static on a private plot. One way it is different is we drive on the wrong side of the road. Not a problem. Currently I'm driving a righthand drive without any dificulties.
Having met you i can tell folks that you are much taller than you look on screen....so those sofas are indeed big. I'm sat in my caravan in Cornwall watching you in your caravan...sad i know. Hope your enjoying your visit.

We will soon journey into Wellington, as i always take Lina to her work, so i'm expecting some roadside flooding. Take care there, great to see you with your flash car and van, lol. Cheers Karen, Tues. July 16.
The taps were all on because it is important to drain all lines during storage to prevent freezing water from causing pipes to burst. Same goes for drainage lines. :)
Hi Karen. Welcome in Europe ! One point i like on UK caravan, it's the windows at living room and the oven. but what i doesn't like, the caravan seems to be narrow ! How width does it ? 1,9 m or 2.1 m Here in France the standard is 2,3m ( like's mine caravan ) and there are 2.5m ! What do you thiks about the (French car ) Peugeot ( you can tel PIGEOT) the motor are overboost with a turbo, it's good but to start at a red light or a stop, they don't have too much couple ( strong ) until it run at 2000 RPM, VW have 2L motor and i think it's more pleasant to drive when you are towing. It make lot's of difference with your 4x4 ? See you later and enjoy UK food !! Denis
The caravan I have is 7.5ft I think? And apparently 8ft wide came out last year. But after experiencing some fo the Lake District roads... I think I'll stick with the 7.5ft wide caravan🤣 I have noticed that the car is a little slower to take off. But a joy to drive.
Hi Karen, I am wondering if you may be tempted to take this futuristic car and caravan back to New Zealand!!! LOL. You may find it difficult later getting used to your New Zealand car and caravan after this trip. The caravan there looks awesome. Looking forward to hearing of your travels over there. Anyway, take care. Robert.
Ok make sure you open the gas bottle all the way until it stops turning. In addition to a close seal there is also an open seal to prevent gas from leaking by the valve shaft. So ts either open all the way until it stops when it hits the open seal and the closed seal. Sorry for being long winded but propane is heavier than air unlike natural gas which is lighter than air. Propane if it leaks out simply finds the lowest point waiting for an something to ignite it. Be safe please. Cheers!
Glad you’re liking the Bailey Karen. Couple of things, there’s no extractor as it’s an entry level van. Secondly and this may be just down to the edit order, but don’t connect the 230v mains hookup lead while the 12v system/lead is connected to the car. Finally the usb charger I’m sure you’ve probably fathomed it by now, but check all your system switches are on (main 12v switch, lights, pump etc eTc)
Great to see you in the UK exploring our lovely sites . Just a question re that island bed .,Is it ok for tall folk when stretched out ? . I'm assuming you are of average girly height 5'5 and find it comfy . It's a lovely layout, gonna save my pennies ( cents ) to buy one lol . Have a fab time here and great videos past and present . 😊
How are you finding towing a longer van? Looks really lovely. We had a German van for a while - it was really lovely, though not really suited to Australian conditions. It needed bitumen roads, but it was wonderful to travel in.
It's actually been fine towing a longer van. The differences has been swinging a little wider on sharp corners and it's taken a few goes reversing... getting there though. Were you wanting to go off-road with your van?
Travelling K Yes, our current van is an off-road Goldstream camper so not a full caravan. Goes anywhere though which was important to us this time. The old full van was lovely to travel with though.
that's nearly a £20.000 pound caravan . its nice but to much money .... nice to see your staying in the uk for some time . love the videos .... hope you have a nice time hear best regards from me out .... Liverpool
your right Mr Balls where cheap as chips . in my opinion these days face value of 20.000 pound is more like double these days . the value of money is so much more than any item you can buy .. that caravan is worth about £8000 hard working cash in my opinion.. if you dont think 20.000 is to much for that caravan well then your truly blessed and a lucky guy. kind regards
oh man! you reminded me how much I miss all the ready meal options in the UK! We also have way fewer options in Australia and they're mostly less healthy options as well. 🙁
Travelling K can’t blame ya! When I lived there most of my dinners were ready meals! 😂 But usually roasts or salads. Hell in a pinch even the local services had a £1.50 frozen roast ready meal. Never get a whole meal that cheap in Aus and definitely not at a bloody servo! 😜
Funnily enough, it's so so much lighter! I can easily shift it around. It doesn't have the heavy solar panel, giant batteries and 2 gas bottles like mine🤣
Hi from Australia. I've just come across your channel and seriously love your content. You do a fabulous job of sharing the caravanning life as a solo woman - something I'm thinking about doing in the future. Can I ask why you chose a caravan over a motorhome/RV? I'm 53yo and have never towed even a trailer before but you have shown that it can be done and quite easily at that...especially on insanely narrow UK roads!! I look forward to checking out more of your videos.
Lovely to here! I picked a caravan because of the price difference. Anything with a motor jumped in price. And I liked the idea of being able to leave my home behind while I drive into a city. Hope that helps your decision?
I didn't realize how different travel trailers in the US are from those in the UK. Your fresh water capacity seems to be quite small if half a tank is only 20 liters. My trailer is smaller than this one and I have a 49 gallon (185.5 liter) fresh water tank.
@@TravellingK A big difference between the US and UK/NZ is the type of tow vehicle commonly used. Where I live, the most common type of tow vehicle is a pickup truck. They can tow a lot more than cars and crossovers can. Also, boondocking is quite popular, especially in the ester US, where there is a lot of federal land that is open for camping. Some manufacturers have western and eastern versions of their RVs, one difference being that boondocking is more popular in the west, so western versions tend to have larger fresh water tanks. In the eastern states, people are more likely to camp at an RV park that has water and electric hookups.
Sorry I missed you in Sheffield, but I was ill and didn't think you'd appreciate a sickness bug 😝 Anyway, that looks like an eco camel shower head, now you get a chance to try one!
If you should ever make it the Florida USA. My wife and I would be glad to invite you for a short camp out in our Class A RV diesel pusher. I have had the pleasure of camping with a rental caravan in the south of Spain. We do some things right in the US , RVs are one of them.
We do import a lot of U.S. Rv.s over here. I agree they are beautifully designed and finished, sadly a 50ft rv would not fit down a lot of roads over here. But they are nice.
@@ggale2721 know of one American who has a BlueBird in Spain. He tells me he has to lay out his routs very thoroughly and stick to them. He told me he had to back up over a mile one time when he got lost. I think his rig is a 38 feet.
I just love how you take things in your stride and you can laugh at any little bumps

Take care there, great to see you with your flash car and van, lol. Cheers Karen, Tues. July 16.
Oh, hope the roads weren't too bad! Yikes! I've managed to get sunburnt the other day... whoops.
The taps were all on because it is important to drain all lines during storage to prevent freezing water from causing pipes to burst. Same goes for drainage lines. :)
Good to know!
Good you stocked up on chocolate (Galaxy)…. live the dream.. :)
haha got to have chocolate!!
Hi Karen.
Welcome in Europe !
One point i like on UK caravan, it's the windows at living room and the oven.
but what i doesn't like, the caravan seems to be narrow !
How width does it ? 1,9 m or 2.1 m
Here in France the standard is 2,3m ( like's mine caravan ) and there are 2.5m !
Denis
they are 2.3mts
The caravan I have is 7.5ft I think? And apparently 8ft wide came out last year. But after experiencing some fo the Lake District roads... I think I'll stick with the 7.5ft wide caravan🤣
I have noticed that the car is a little slower to take off.
Robert.
Oh I'm positive that it will be difficult going back to my car and caravan! Can't wait to share some of my stories.
Loving your vids Karen that vehicle looks pretty chur👍
Great to hear! And I’m loving the caravan 😀
Travelling K it was amazing watching how caravans are made that was a real experience.
Welcome to the UK. Im new to your channel, like it. You are one gutsy lady! I would doff my cap to you (if I wore one that is) :-)
Why thank you! Glad you’ve found the channel 😀
Cheers!
Thank you for the advice. I’ll agree it’s best to be safe with gas!
Ohhh great tips! Still haven't figured out the USB plugs...
I'm quite tall... more like 5'8! Plenty of room for me. Was thinking it might be a cosy fit for a couple? Glad you're loving the videos😀
Wow how good is that shower pressure 👌
I'm so impressed with the shower. Now I just need the water hooked up to a tap🤣
Its funny how you discovered the UK ready meal market,we are a lazy bunch.
Karen you did realy good, loads of respect to you mam.
Thank you!
Congrats!
Thank you!
Liverpool
tight scouser's.
your right Mr Balls where cheap as chips . in my opinion these days face value of 20.000 pound is more like double these days . the value of money is so much more than any item you can buy .. that caravan is worth about £8000 hard working cash in my opinion.. if you dont think 20.000 is to much for that caravan well then your truly blessed and a lucky guy. kind regards
Money is always a tricky aspect. I can't get over the price difference to a van in the UK and what they sell for in NZ!!
oh man! you reminded me how much I miss all the ready meal options in the UK! We also have way fewer options in Australia and they're mostly less healthy options as well. 🙁
Yes, I’ve been making to most of them, I must admit!
Very good vidéo karen.you are really lucky 😉
Thank you! It's been an amazing trip so far!
No expert but lifting the stabilizer lever will make it easy to reverse so I have heard. Don't have a caravan myself but watched videos on UA-cam 😁.
Correct
Oh ok, that's a good tip...
whats it like to tow?is it heavier to tow than your own caravan?
Hi K how are you getting on in the UK? Don't forget to get the ferry across here to Northern Ireland you will enjoy it plenty of caravan parks
So far so good! The main challenge have been the narrow roads🤦♀️Wish I could make it your way...
I didn't realize how different travel trailers in the US are from those in the UK. Your fresh water capacity seems to be quite small if half a tank is only 20 liters. My trailer is smaller than this one and I have a 49 gallon (185.5 liter) fresh water tank.
Oh I’m keen to hear of the differences! Yes, this water tank is tiny. I have a 52L tank at home. But wish it was an internal tank too...
Sorry to hear your weren't well. But must say... thank you for not passing it to me!
The shower head does seem to be working well...
Lovely video.. thank you
The car and caravan looks great , how long are you in the UK ?
I'm hear for over 2 months😀Time is flying!
Well the weather is kind off ok , will you be shopping for a new caravan and new car
So where you heading to next then?
One day I hope to make it to USA! I've found it really interesting seeing the differences with caravanning here.
So jealous are you going to Scotland
Unfortunately not this visit! Funnily enough... I don't have enough time.
Come camping in Alberta..you can use my 3 horse trailer!
Hope to make it there one day!
Hi K. Can you buy Bailey Caravans in New Zealand? If so how different are the prices are yours cheaper or more expensive?
After importing into NZ, it’s more expensive here... The caravan is NZ$59,990 in NZ: www.traillite.co.nz/caravans/bailey-phoenix/
Will you be reviewing the Peugeot tow car?
My newest video had a quick overview of the car... plan to do a more in-depth look later in the trip once I figure it all out! haha
I think you should keep it and move to uk bec i have carav is lunar an we going away on hoilday on Sunday 6th August 2023
Cute cute and cute!
The caravan? It's a really lovely space!
I love the video and the caravan I love you
haha the caravan is amazing!!
The bowl in the sink is an old custom to save cracking your china in the sink and saving water.
Ah I did wonder were it started from
KAREN, HLLO, yes I was led to you by ANDREW DITTON, , as I follow him, I actually have 140 different YT subs , safe travels, Chers from NJUSA
Oh glad you came over from Andrews channel 😀 Decent number of channels you follow!

Yes 😀
Washing up bowls are weird ?
We don't use these in NZ🤷♀️
Newfoundland has to be seen to be believed. The Rockies too of course.
I’ve heard about Newfoundland...
Put a block under them legs to keep them from going into the soft ground..
Good tip - thank you😀
not bad m8, bludy jealous as eh!
hehe, seriously so grateful to be given this opportunity.
Enjoy :-)
Thank you!
Do you travel with your husband ?
Take a read of the channel 'About' page
The U.K was better off for having you visit mate 😃
Thank you Tom 😀
It’s all about the spaceman hahahahaha
Spaceman?! haha
Hi karen next timeyour in uk must meet up
What maker puts a power cord on the door side that your going to have to trip over... bloody hell..
Guess they all have their quirks?
There were so many instant meals because you went to Sainsburys. They are losing money fast,
Why are they losing money?
Do you know why they are losing money?
