No - You've both misunderstood. The atmosphere in Los Angeles is actually completely void of color. Most films and television shows that you watch, other than this one, have had color added to them.

Kudos to the interviewer for knowing when to shut up and just direct the interview. UA-cam is full of interviewers that need protagonism.

It's also a technique to make the guest uncomfortable and fill in the gaps to fill the void, but making it about yourself is shitty.
Protagonism is an interesting lense to look at an interview. I think more people should include that in the variety of lenses in their arsenal
I want the ability to fail out loud. I want to grow from making a mistake rather than being so afraid of making a mistake and being ostracised for it that I don’t bother trying at all
I’m glad that our society can call out behaviour and hold people accountable, but we have to allow forgiveness and growth into the mix too. Look at how much Bo has grown as a person by trial and error!
I know, I feel like if I say one wrong thing I’m ruined forever. Forgiveness seems like a thing of the past. I’m glad crappy people are called out but can we stop the hate when the person changes for the better?
@@jakethebarcode trust me forgiveness is definitely a thing of the past i not had any IRL "friends" the last 15 ish years due to this very same fear i know im offensive and open minded and i don't know when to shut up so i started to just not talk when being out with friends that ended up with them not inviting me and well here i am and now to afraid to even try anymore
How funny it is to me that I've grown fear over wanting to make content but taking several steps back because of so many things like art theft, criticism be it constructively beneficial in my growth to hurtful useless comments that leaves me crying on the floor and most notably the fear of doing or saying something wrong that people will hate and tells me to stfu when I try to do better :')
All of my dreams consists on having to put myself out there but I'd keep willingly choosing to stay in my shell, being always at home and keep all those aspirations of mine in my daydreams and fantasy

That's what's scary these days. I think he's that perfect age where he was young and a little less aware during the last generation you didn't have to worry about every little thing you said. I know I said some things online as an 'edgy' 13 year old that probably wouldn't age well. Comedy has always been a place to go 'just' a tiny bit past what is considered socially acceptable to the point its surprising and amusing. But that standard changes so quickly as pop culture changes.
He's problematic, when he was 17 on Halloween he dressed up as Aladdin.

No one loved Bo's old stuff because it was edgy. People loved it because it was clever and witty. It just happened to be edgy too.
This is a great observation. And it’s been great to see bo realize that too over the years. The highlights of all of his past shows have always been sharp social commentary and personal introspective stuff.

Now i dont say there should not be any rules because without rules it would be anarchy which is totally different but i hear about religion day in and day out and that used to offend me now i just ignore it as one of many examples..
Internet gave people a voice, Freedom of speech told us to use it but people still need to remember common sense and not have opinions about things they don't know and get offended about nothing and the golden rule "If you have nothing kind to say, Dont say anything at all"

Finn Grant there should be a responsibility, even for comics, to apologize if it’s not something you stand by. Comedy is tough because a lot of the time what you’re saying doesn’t necessarily match up with your views and morals as an actual person. However, just because you can say something in the form of a joke, doesn’t mean you automatically should. Bo makes a great point though where kids need that chance to fail and grow from mistakes.
@@cayden_taylor I feel like he focuses too much on kids making mistakes. I think everyone should be able to make mistakes, it's not like you just stop growing and learning once you hit 18. Making mistakes is part of that process.

This is why I can't stand that some people believe he was being sarcastic in his new song 'Problematic' in the special Inside. He has genuinely reflected on his past work and does some aspects of them to be as offensive as he describes in this video- he is genuinely embarrassed and sorry. The imagery and lyrics in the Problematic video isn't to be mocking accountability or apology videos, but to be funny and in a way mocking how the artist feels for getting called out
To me it's more like a little bit of both!
Problematic in both lyrics and imagery is poking fun at the fetishization of being edgy and "problematic". Mainly targeted at celebrities and influencers who benefit from apology videos and monetize their "growth" . This satire is made clear by his overwhelming sexualization contrasted by the extremely insignificant offense of being a kid in an Aladdin costume for halloween. He literally is crucified at the end of the video in an over the top display of the attention seeking drama that we've normalized.
Bo is apologetic for his past offensive content but I doubt thats what hes's channeling into the song, or else he wouldn't have made the crime he's whining over in the song literally the smallest offensive act I think anyone can imagine. A child dressing up as halloween Aladdin (and even clarifies he didn't darken his skin just to drive the point home that he's making it problematic for the attention).

That's a problem I have with some of his comedy. You can never tell when he's being genuine and when he's playing a character and sometimes, the two seem to get mixed up and it sends an unclear message.
Is he truly sorry for things he's said? Then why is he bringing up an Aladdin costume, which is probably the most inoffensive thing ever?
Then if he's making fun of people who apologize for their mistakes, doesn't that go against the rest of the special and what he believes in now?

Some of it does, other is kinda cringy now that we know better as a society the nuisances of what marginalize communities find funny about their own situations and what jokes are homophobic, transphobic, ablist, and so on.
I am gay, trans, and disabled, you can ABSOLUTELY make jokes about me that are funny if they are in good faith and not just insults or stigma in PUN form.
You can either evolve with society and adjust as Bo did SO WELL. Or you can cling to your edgy comedy and fizzle into obscurity like Dane Cook.

One of my first really explosive memories is my brother showing me his youtube video "my family thinks I'm gay" and telling me not to say anything to my parents. I was maybe 10 and since then I've been following his work. I can't imagine my life without his art and the laughs I had along the way

@@andrew5222 Not really what I was saying. And I don't really agree. We are less censored now than ever. Anyone can say anything they want to the entire world through multiple different channels. Not too long ago to even have the chance to broadcast your thoughts and opinions you had to go through media gatekeepers and if you made it that far you were censored heavily on what you could and couldn't say. Maybe everyone broadcasting every single thought and opinion they have is the problem.

It's not right that people should ever have to preface a statement with a million disclaimers. I do it, too, and I guess it alieves some anxiety about offending someone unintentionally, and can provide useful clarification, but feeling the need to do that any time you have a thought that could bother someone... There will ALWAYS be someone that could get upset regardless. There's been a lot of talk about how the 'PC movement' has killed comedy.

The main difference is that words mean very different things to people, so some people will not get hurt by the same action.
