The face of Australia in the last 40 years has been altered by immigration. There is a shift in values based on the cultural differences of people who aren’t invested in Australia.

As a soon to be 52 year old Aussie I've seen Australia get worse through my whole life! We've been sold out by politicians and business people.
Australia could of have been the most amazing country with a high tech future and low population of descendants of Europe and the indigenous people of Australia. We would have been the envy of the world with all these resources for ourselves. Australia has all the resources to create a high tech future but the politicians the business people sold us out.

Having lived in Australia (Where I was born and raised) as well as the UK and USA, I can safely say that the quality of life in Australia is orders of magnitude better than the others. It's the only one where I could genuinely say my taxes might go to good use.
BUT it is the most painfully woke, and as Konstantin said, apathetic. The cultural discussions and debates in Australia are actually not robust and based. They are pandering and pathetic. They consider little old harmless old Rattlesnake a right wing extremist.
I fear for my country, in that in a time of serious turmoil we would crumble in a second. The toilet paper wars during the VID showed just how fragile we truly are.

Having lived many places -- and visited many others, including the USA, UK and Australia -- I can safely say that people's preferences as to the best place to live varies widely and you should not confuse your preferences for some objective reality. Some people love the beach, others love the mountains; some crave the night life of a humming city; others love the peace of a fishing pond out their back door.
And the idea that the quality of life varies "by orders of magnitude" between any 2 places in the western world is just silly. It is a teenager waxing on the greatness of her favorite heartthrob.
If you like Australia, please stay there.

Anzac Day, has been co-opted in Victoria by the AFL. Now we see people in football garg at the Dawn service, a brilliant Marketing strategy to bolster the AFL profits.
As for ANZAC, 1915, the original Anzac heroic war stories, were driven by the war department and journalists, on a mission to enlist more troops, nothing more than propaganda.
However the stories become legend, which become myth.
If any thing Anzac Day, should be remembered of our past links to Empire, which in WW1 resulted in a lost generation for the sake of our English masters, who could give two f**ks about our men.
Anzac day itself, was an English plan, headed by Churchill, to take the Ottoman empire and secure the middle eastern oil supplies. So we invaded a sovereign country, got dropped off at the wrong beach, and were slaughtered on the beach, and got no further than the lead soldiers who were encircled and shot, their remains only collected in 1919 after the war.
The only successful part of the operation, was the withdrawal.

I live in Australia 🇦🇺. Back in January, we celebrated Australia Day, or at least that's what we use to do. Not so long ago, as the day approached, one would see vehicles with little Australian flags flapping from fixtures on the door pillars along with many other indications of Australian allegiance.
This year, I personally saw none of that.
I'm not a flag waving type of guy or demonstrably nationalistic, but in light of the apparent lack of patriotism, I went down to our federal MP's office and collected 10 little representations of our flag, affixed three to my vehicle and the rest around the outside of the house.
I wasn't even born here, so what's happened to the place!
There was an elderly man that was threatened with arrest because he had an Australian flag on his hat.😯 He and his wife were just having lunch in the city after a morning of shopping. They were too close to a protest that they didn't know was on. They were told that they were inciting violence. They ended up being escorted by police down the backstreets away from the area 😡

We haven't had a true recession for many years and people have gotten used to an easy come easy go lifestyle. They say people are doing it tough but interest rates are only 4.35% they'd be doing it a lot tougher if the interest rate was 24.35%. I can just remember the last true recession we had and it was far far worse than it its now.

I'm a New Zealander - 49 years old - used to be quite "progressive" - I really believed that by opening boarders, new immigrants would adjust to our culture in one or two generations - but the reality is for some immigrant cultures, that just does not happen - and indeed many of them seem to expect the reverse to happen - our culture should change to be more like theirs. Now I'm becoming more and more wary of open immigration policy. The politicians here mostly like it because it does drive economic growth - but the cost seems to be a gradual loss of what it is to be Kiwi. The sad thing is, we have some immigrants who come here and just do amazing things (Fijian Indians for example - hardest working people I know - and that extends to trying to fit in with the society they have moved to) - but others, not so much - but policies don't seem to accept that it is OK to discriminate as to where your immigrants come from.

So true. Unfortunately our way of thinking as in when in Rome, do what the Romans do doesn't apply to certain ethnic backgrounds. We are expected to adjust to their cultural back ground, that being the case why would they come here in the first place, maybe its our social welfare that is so appealing. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has just made the extraordinary decision, to not ask citizens what their ethnicity is in the next census. This means, after the next census, we will not know what the current ethnic make up of the country is.

To our advantage, change has not impacted regional areas to the same degree. Meaning that because there are vast spaces between our settlements, it has the effect of slowing down the proliferation of woke ideology. An example was the Voice referrendum where the No campaign was strongest in the bush. Unfortunately due to the ABC, media and other factors like apathy, they are rapidly catching up. By the way, the ABC is so bad now that is looks like a boardroom meeting of the UN. I used to be an avid supporter of the ABC, now I'm ashamed of it. It is more supportive of China than Australia. Australia is definitely far less down the rabbit hole than other countries such as the UK and USA. But as many have said in the comments, outside influences are most certainly creeping in.
We are lucky that the vast majority of “average Aussies” are fairly down to earth, laid back and for the most part don’t have time for a lot of the woke mind virus rhetoric.
A very large portion of the population work in practical, technical, hands on forms of employment which still require some sort of meritocracy to exist. Where meritocracy and a lack of luxury exists, the woke ideology fails.
The biggest issue we have in Australia is the attitude of “not making a fuss” or “not rocking the boat”. Our “she’ll be right mate” attitude (which in many ways makes this country great and far less divisive than others) is also our biggest downfall when it comes to ensuring these sorts of ideologies don’t take hold. Unless pushed or forced, most average Aussies won’t go to great lengths to argue or make a fuss. Most people just want to go about their lives and get on with it.
Where this is most apparent is in Government offices and universities, where most of the external influences are able to creep in. In the last 5-10 years we have seen a massive influx of both native and international students finish their degrees and enter the workplace, full to the brim with new ideology. For the most part, in the private in the sector, their influence is limited as they simply to don’t last, but where they find solace and influence is unfortunately in our government departments. The results are now speaking for themselves where not only are the politicians totally out of touch with everyday Aussies, but the government departments who control our local councils, roads and infrastructure and so on are also ideologically captured. This is where the battle lines are really starting to be drawn with public servants and government employees either being silenced or sacked from their jobs for not agreeing or going along with the ideology. Pragmatism and merit is very much in decline in these areas as it flys in the face of the “woke” ideas and ideology. The frustration felt by people employed in these government departments is off the charts.

5. We have such draconian laws that illegal work is very hard to get away with. This isn’t a net positive for stopping immigration it’s a net negative for all Australia
6. More than 30% of the people were not born here. That stat doesn’t include first generation
7. If you read how insane the voice vote was. The 40% yes votes is extremely alarming
8. Almost ever job now asks you to list your ethnicity and no one seems to bat an eye

Housing should not be an asset and families should own no more than two buildings for themselves. There is no need for more than a main home and a holiday house near a vacation spot, but I hear elderly people talking about their six or more investment properties. If each elderly has 2 investment properties that means there really are no houses for the youth via theft from the older generations.

For the record I only have the small house I live in. However retired people with several houses don't get the pension and save taxpayers, and the houses are rented out. The real reason housing is so expensive is immigration. In the 70s and 80s a man in stable employment could afford to buy a house. Our birthrates have not increased since then. We should still have enough affordable housing without even building more houses. But our population has increased through immigration. And instead of blaming Australian boomers, what about all the foreign investors who buy houses and leave them empty.

All what you say about Australia is true, the problem with Australia is it always had look to the US for ideas but it never seems that we can come up with our own. Demographically since we are further away from most places, we only tend get our influences and info through the internet... at this point it's social media. Some Aussies are stuck in this belief that "Australia is the best place" but don't seem to realise that's changing due to weak politicians, cultural & political imitation, apathetic attitudes, letting China rule most of enterprises, making everything too competitive (part of the reason why cost of living has been getting expensive over the years and why wages differ).

I’m an ex vet and police of just over 20 years in Aus. I can vouch that everything you say is not only true and real, you are placing everything in a very tactful and polite way. One misleading fact though, in our mines those wages have suddenly become so high because almost all “manager or leadership” roles only go to women. Our biggest miners who are BHP, FMG and Rio Tinto have made a public pledge that we can’t talk about, to have all of their management and leadership roles exceed 60% by 2025. Many men have suddenly l their jobs, marriages collapsing and the amount of Caucasian suicide is out of control. I have lost more than 3 friends check out EVERY year since 2010, unbelievably not only tolerated but many women groups tell us that it’s “Perfectly normal for a Caucasian males to check out, so there’s nothing we can do about it but instead learn to culturally 😊accept it as the norm”. And yes, that is a direct quote that from official federal women’s legal group that I witnessed at a police only conference myself. I tried to speak up but you have to recall that Aus has NO free speech.

The present government is very left and also relies on the greens to keep themselves in power. This government wants to close down sectors of the mining industry and is making it very difficult to open new mining projects which also appeases the greens. Tough times ahead.
It began with feminism, when women went out to work governments had more people to tax. Businesses could reduce wages without reducing consumerism. And two parent households competed with single income couples to push up the price of housing.
By the 90s all the married women prepared to work were working. So they found they replicate it with mass immigration.

Some good points but there's also some misinformation here. The crowd at the Sydney Opera didn't chant "gas the Jews". As for Australia Day, the issue for most people is with the particular day it's held on and not that we shouldn't celebrate the nation. Your characterisation of the Voice referendum was also simplistic. As for immigration, while the conservative governments did "stop the boats" they also presided over a huge increase in economic migrants coming by plane and overstaying their visas. Any discussion of the challenges faced by Australia would not be complete without mentioning the extreme unaffordability of housing here which is only partially caused by high immigration. A much greater reason is our world beating tax breaks for investment properties, which were largely enacted by conservative governments and have led to a massive inter-generational wealth gap.
This is the real point mate. I think a lot of people forget that we've actually had record high legal migration while they were chanting "stop the boats" which has increased the pressures on the local people. I'm also glad you mentioned the tax cuts but staggering wages while record profits needs a mention too.

We are getting there slowly Konstantin unfortunately, we now have areas of Australia that have shops etc in only other languages than English with no local laws stating that they need to be in English at all. In a country that has English as the predominant language I find this worrying and I feel totally excluded from my own country.
