- Well, you’ve all been asking for it, and here it is! My first metal detecting adventure with the Manticore! Any metal detector that scores a rare silver on its first outing is a winner in my book, especially when that silver is found in a spot that’s been metal detected countless times in the past. I was so impressed with this machine that it’s likely to become my go-to… but time will tell!
Note: This is NOT a review video, but a practical hunting video with real life situations that I came across with the Manticore. It’s not intended to go over every specification - UA-cam is flooded with those videos already. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this regularly scheduled metal detecting adventure!

Your work goes straight to the manticore of my heart
Haha, well thank you! 😆
I got as excited as you when you pushed away that dirt on that seated !!!!!
Haha, awesome! I’m pretty excitable! 😂
Thanks for letting us hear the sound and see the 2D, it help very much. Even junk is a learning experience, congrads on the 1875-s...
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed! 😊
Just wanted to say thanks! You referred to that 1951 quarter (my birth year) as a modern quarter. Gave a lift to my day!😅
Haha! Hey, no problem! 😂 I start saying something is “old silver” when I hit a Barber or Seated, depends where I am that day.
On Sunday I bought a new Manticore and pulled 5 wheats and a Merc off a spot I hit just a few days prior with my Nox. Today, to really test the Manticore, I visited a small 20x20 sweet spot in a bigger field that my son and I have absolutely pounded over the past few years. I really thought this small spot was cleaned out, but to my surprise I quickly pulled a merc and a silver Rosie that were each down about 8” in dry soil. Before digging them, I scanned the signal with both detectors and the Nox showed absolutely nothing on one of the coins and sketchy numbers on the other coin. I’m really happy so far with the manticore and I’m looking forward to see if my old spots start producing again.
@@znarffsu1565 that’s awesome! The Manticore LOVES coins on edge, even more so than the Equinox. You’ll have a blast with that machine!
Very impressive! And I mean the Seated Dime as well as the Manticore. Looking forward to Friday.
Thank you! The Manticore is amazing, I love it!
Have a great time at BONE. Congrats on the lovely seated too! ✌🏼❤️😊🍀
Thank you! Hope all is well with you! 😊
What an amazing day of metal detecting!! That dime is amazing!! I am looking forward to seeing your next video.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Great score on the silvers Stef, Congrats! I just got the Manticore on Monday. On Wednesday I took it to my hammered fairgrounds and dug an outstanding 76-S Seated Half. Come on over and watch the hunt...thanks.
Very nice! It sure loves silver! 😄
Hey Stef nice Hunt with the Manticore. Nice Shoe Buckle piece. Congrats on the Wheatie 1951 Washington Quarter and especially the 1875 s Seated Dime. Seeing the mint mark in a different spot is cool and different. Very nice find. Be looking forward to your next videos on the Manticore. Got my curiosity going big time. Take Care Stef
Thank you! I love that dime, can’t believe it’s actually a rare one, hah!
Manticore Monday's sounds Marvelous! If I was still detecting I would love to have it! I'm a firm believer that it doesn't matter how well a field has been detected, there's always something left behind! I'm looking forward to seeing what you find on a all day hunt! Til next time take care, stay safe and dig, dig, dig...
Thank you! It’s true, a site always has a few relics or coins left to give up. I do think the new technology has played a hand in a few of my finds so far, and I’m liking it!
I would be liking it to! Take care my You Tube friend, I'll see you next time...
Great going Stef. Congrats on the silver. Really happy the manticore was going well for you. Had one for a while now and am loving it. Really enjoy the 2D screen for a bit more detail. I noticed you have a tight swing when showing a target. Beautiful. I do that too. Good luck on the next and hope you get a core for yourself soon. Take care mate. Regards Andrew 🦘🦘😁👍
Thanks Andrew! Hope I have a “keeper” loaner soon, too - I absolutely love the machine! 😊
How fun!! And what a GORGEOUS dime!!! Whoa!!
Thank you! I’m really not sure I would’ve found it without the Manticore - tough to know for sure, but there was SO much iron in the hole!
Sure having fun Stef
Always! 😊
Another great Manticore video Stef!! 👊🏼🇬🇧
Thank you! Loving that machine!
Congrats. Manticore is a really nice machine. Hopefully a sw update or 2 will really fine tune it
Thanks! I’m loving it, but fine tuning can’t hurt! 😊
Good for you stef!!!
Thanks John!
You and others have help me make m Manticore decision- not certain exactly when, but I WILL have one. Congrats for those 2 sweet silvers and GL with it for the rest of your rental- go get some early US silver!
Thank you! I struck early US silver in 2021… there’s a video on the channel that’s near and dear to my heart called “Grail Coin.” I won’t spoil what it is if you haven’t seen it. 😉
The dime was awesome
Thank you! I love that coin!
Cool stuff. Still waiting on my first seated. Good luck. Take care!
Thank you! Hope you get your first soon! 😊
nice seated Stef congrats!
Thanks Dave! Definitely my nicest Seated dime!
Nice work Stef!!! My first time out with my manticore I pulled up a KGV silver Canadian 5 cent piece, I’m really starting to like the machine for sure
It’s the best machine on the market right now, hands down! Love mine!
Great coin! You go girl.
Thank you!
Great video congrats on the dime!!
@@ArnieT1958 thank you! 😊
Great video! I really like your style. Congrats on that seated!
Thank you! I’m loving the Manticore… and what it helps me find, of course. 😊
Very cool on the silver seated - congrats!! I always check my hole - yesterday I was lucky enough to score TWO rivets in one hole! 😆 Thanks for a great video!!
Haha! Damn rivets, I hate them. 🤣 So good to finally meet you today! 😄
@@StefDigs You too and I'll see you Saturday!
Very Nice finds
Thanks Mark!
Awesome seated!
Thank you!
Great show, looks like you had a blast with that machine! That dime!!!😮
I did have a blast! I’ve still got plenty to learn, but I’m enjoying it!
Awesome hunt Stef and some really great finds' I enjoyed your video.Good luck to you.
Thanks Jimmy!
I've got about 20 hours on the manticore so far and am struggling with amount of falsing and chatter. It looks like yours was running pretty well. I have tried a myriad of settings and have it so it is at least tolerable. I think with a software update it will be a sweet machine. Beautiful seated dime! Love the little history lesson too.
Thanks Scott! How high are you running your sensitivity? Although the Manticore boasts a sensitivity cap of 35, I’ve noticed that less is more - in fact, I run my sensitivity around 19-21 for iron infested sites (sometimes lower), and I only use 26 at the most when I’m out in the middle of a quiet field. I’ve also heard a trick where you can continue to hold down the button while performing your noise cancel (rather than taking your finger off the button after a second) until it continuously resolves to the same number. Most of the issues I have heard about are generally to do with having your sensitivity too high, though. I’ve found relics a foot in the ground at 16-18, believe it or not! It’s an incredibly sensitive machine, but as they say… it’s a beast and must be tamed! 🤘🏻
Stef is correct. Keep sensitivity low. I've hit wheats at 10 inches with sensitivity on 16. Hold in the noise cancel good & long, and leave ground balance on zero. Minelab is coming out with an update, likely around August or September this year.
Running it at 20, it does quiet down the lower I run it of course. I'm out the rest of the week with it so I will experiment more. Thanks
I have done that with the noise cancel, thanks for the tip.
Cool machine, your quarter looks way better than the '47 I found. Stay dirty 👍
Thank you! It’s a cool looking quarter. I kinda like the smaller silver better, though. 😉
Just give that back and get a Deus 2 😂 just kidding bet t is a decent detector
Haha, it truly is! Especially now that I’m really getting the hang of it. To be honest I think I’m still just under 100 hours, but I love it so far!
If the manticore could handle deep water and take the kind of abuse I put my Excalibur2 through I'd pay $3k+ for one.
Hah, I don’t blame you! The Excalibur 2 is so great for diving, though - everybody I know who owns one LOVES theirs! 😊
If your digging repeatable signals why dose it make the difference what machine your useing , I would put my 600 Equnox up against any machine unless it's a really deep machine that would a big difference.......and just because you do better with one machine because I have hit a place a few times and came up with good stuff better the third time and the 9 time, the coil has to be over it to find it
It’s extremely deep - I had the sensitivity on 16 with the Manticore when I was out once recently. I was pulling stuff a foot in the ground. You will see in upcoming videos that not everything I dig with the Manticore is repeatable… however, the 2D screen prompted me to dig. The real benefit to me though is being able to make the call between canslaw and good target in the field. I can even tell the difference between a pull tab and small silver now, that’s how precise it is once you learn it. Value in not needing to get down and dig as much will absolutely appeal to older folks will be a game changer for them, especially.
I’ll add more since you’ve edited your comment and expounded on what you have said. I explained in the intro that I chose sites I’ve been over at least 20 times. The finds I made were in areas I have gridded in 3 ways (back and forth, and diagonally), all with the 600 - sometimes with the 15”, sometimes the 11”. Over time as more videos are released on the Manticore, you will likely notice a difference. The 600 has been my go-to for 5 years. Recently switched to the 900 and now have this Manticore on loan. So far, the Manticore has been my favorite. 600 is a powerhouse though, not a single debate about that from me! 😊
@@StefDigs I grind most the places I hunt been looking for the other half to a civil war buckel and I keep going back for that reason and the other day I dug a seated quarter and right next to it a 18k gold ring it was right after a hard rain and that might have made it go a little deeper , I will never know but you know like I do it has to be under your coil to find it . Keep digging Stef love your videos......
@@robertpeet3781 wow, what an awesome day, congrats! I sure hope you find the other half of the buckle! 🤞🏻
Why swing over the target over and over and over we get it!!!!!!!!!!!!
To show people the 2D screen, as mentioned several times in the video.
You need a muff on your mic.
You think? 😂 I know, I have a windmuff on it, actually. I want to get a lapel mic. Open to suggestions if you’ve got one that you enjoy.
Cool hunt!
Hit that field with ATHC and ATLC. ATG is good, but if you're looking for silver start with the ATHC.
Tks!
GL👨🦯HH
Absolutely! First few hunts I wanted to keep it basic. In the Minelab tent we’ve seen just what ATHC versus LC will do on the targets we bury at events in the test area, and it really does make a big difference! I’ve barely scratched the surface with the Manticore, but so far, I love it!
@@StefDigs Get used to it, then mess around.
At some point experiment switching between ATHC and ATLC on the same target. It's a discrimination technique, works pretty good with the Manticore.
If the signal weakens or gains strength, it's a good indication that it's a within the conductivity range of the stronger audio response search mode. If it sounds the same, then judgement call time.
@@pigeonbloodruby5330 awesome, I appreciate the tips! Please do comment with more as I release other videos, would love to hear more feedback from someone who truly seems to have a good handle on it! 😊
