    This scene simply oozes with sexual tension. Yul Brenner's masculinity. Anne Baxter's skimpy outfit. Ramses promising "you are food for the gods" and "I will have all of you". And in response to Nefretiri's protests, he says "whether you like it or not, is your own affair. But I think you will!". It was remarkably risque for a 1956 movie. Grrrrrrr!!!!

    Such great acting, l love when Ramsey's says "Does it matter", when she says she can never love him. Also the way he throws his cape over his shoulder like a king and he says to her "l will enjoy you much, whether you enjoy it or not is up to you, but l think you will." He's stone cold and already made to be a pharaoh.

      @gv5884 3 роки тому +11

      @@Jonathan-pz3zb Well, the only parts one can see through are the arms with the cape, all the rest of the dress has a nude lining. Why would they be inappropriate, for the time, condition and setting this scene takes place? They wouldn't be appropriate for a funeral, a lab or an office, but I don't see why not in other places. And really, who are you to talk about my dignity? Real dignity is to be free to come and go, to express my opinions without being judged solely by that. What one wears has no relation with its dignity and worth of respect. Even if clothes determined a woman's worth, Nefertiti's dress don't even reveal much. They just appear so due to the light fabrics.

She also wielded almost as much power in the government as Ramases, and was chief in negotiations with foreign rulers/governments.

    the only two things Ramsey cared about was his father and being Pharaoh. He never loved Neffritee and he cared even less. She just came with the package.

      Ya think?
      Marriage almost never had anything to do with love back then, especially among royals.
      It was to secure heirship and form political alliances.

    Favorite line, Nefriteri hands the royal sword to Ramesses and says...bring this back to me with Moses' blood, Ramesses replies "I will" as he places the sword into its scabbard around his waist, "to mingle with your own!!" love it!, I repeat that line every time my wife hands me a knife in the kitchen, which is usually followed by her throwing something at me.
    as a kid I always thought Nefretiri was Sethi's daughter, as I got older I realized she was not, but I always wondered why I thought that, now I know ...because she's always around Sethi before becoming queen, sitting next to him on the throne, playing games with him in the palace, always with him long before Ramesses married her, but why, she's nobody until Ramesses marries her and then becomes Queen, so why is she being waited on hand and foot by servants, living with the Pharaoh Sethi before she becomes Queen? I know she was a princess but does anyone know who she was related to?

      It is speculated that she was the great granddaughter of Pharaoh Ay, who was only on the throne for 4 years and before that was Vizier - possibly even to Tutankhamun.

    historically, this is even funnier because Nefretari and Ramses II were apparently a very loving couple, so much so that Ramses wrote extensively of her and gave her the best tomb of any Queen when she died

    • @merseywhogirl3430
      @merseywhogirl3430 4 місяці тому +1

      it's funny as well because when Rameses son is dying he says to an aide- He's my only son...WELL, of course he had 156 children with MANY secondary wives. Egyptology is my PASSION but it really started as a chid when ABC tv showed this EVERY year at Easter. It IS a wonderful spectacle which IS STILL LOVE - (well besides the complete lack of historicity)
