    I lived in Holland for a year back in the 80's and loved Christmas time from sinterklaas and Zwarter Pete. I loved the making of a paper shoe to put on the fireplace for presents.

    I'm having so much fun watching you and your guests make holiday ceramics. It's such a cute idea. In English there's an expression "That apple didn't fall far from the tree" which means to point out how much a parent and child are similar. It seems like you and your dad are so similar creatively. Plus the way you joke with each other is so so funny (drunk beer drinking flexible gnomes walking around in the forest with big flat feet.)

    Thank you Calder, the interaction with your papa is so sweet and shows us where your kind heart and cheeky sense of humour comes from. You have a lovely family and I wish you all joy and luck in the new year. I’m smiling and thinking of ways to get my family involved in clay creation too! Love, love your videos, I always learn so much! (From a 35 degree heatwave in Australia)😅

    Oh I had a lot of fun again watching you with your dad making the gnomes. I think it is a wonderful way to get into Christmas spirit ❤ 🎄especially I love to get to know other Christmas traditions -thanks! 😅
    The gnomes are very cute. I like your color choice, I think I would have take just a bit more black color off with the sponge, but that is my own opinion 🤫
    I find it quite interesting that you use vinegar for attaching your pieces and it works so well for you, before I never saw someone using that technique. 🤔
    Best greetings from Germany! 🧑‍🎄

      Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it! Yes, maybe the beard would have looked nice if it was a bit lighter, but I do think this makes it a little bit more dirty looking, which was what my dad was going for :) I love working with vinegar, it works easy and neat😍
      Merry Christmas 🎄🎅

    So, your dad is heavily into Hieronynus Bosch if one goes with his previous projects….
    And I know, we should not do this on a family friendly channel, but ZADDY!

    *❤the gnomes and your Dad!* You mentioned your family doing a rock or rough fire? I am curious and this is what I am curious about. May I ask you to please explain what this is? Thank You, for another fun holiday video. 💚

    • @caldervanandel

      Oh sorry for my bad pronunciation, I was talking about a raku fire. We then fire it really quickly in a gas kiln. And when it's at 1000 degrees Celsius, we take the glazed pieces out of the kiln and place then in barrels with sawdust, and we seal them up. The shock in temperature causes cracks in the glaze. And the smoke turns the clay black🥰

    • @dudley8671
      @dudley8671 7 місяців тому

      @@caldervanandel Thank you for your response and clarification. I am familiar with raku. I didn't easily recognize it with colored glazes & white clay. I am more accustomed to seeing it with more "natural/neutral" tones & colored clays. I must say, I admired the freedom in your Dad's sculptures. I am typically much too rigid (uptight😅😂) to create such works❤💚
