I had no idea they worked i though they were just for show. I was a visitor for the first time when i came across this place. i had no idea it was a hotel till the end of the video. My second trip to Manchester i stopped in the hotel opposite this place.
Hi Dave... just look at it! How did we ever not see this before. Always the dodgy Victorian date which I ignore :) When the lockdown was on we drove through London a few times and the buildings really showed without the distractions of people and traffic... looked like Harry Potter land in places.
Hi jax....I use to live in the city some years ago and I walked around with my eyes closed...london is amazing for old tech and many many buried levels. My son has just come back from london and he is taking up the mud flood hi tech trail.😊
I work here and have done for the last 11 years. The construction was started in 1900 and completed in 1903 by the midland railway company. The train station is directly behind the hotel. Also it's where Mr Rolls and Mr Royce agreed to form Rolls-Royce in a meeting there. There is a plaque on the main entrance. Many film stars and royalty still stay here and the leading government still have their annual party conferences here every year.
i was visiting the city for the first time so i had no idea that it was even a hotel at the time. Have you ever seen any construction phots form when it was built by this i mean the massive hole they would of had to dug first.?? I have had a look myself online but i can not find any pictures from this time.
i managed to find this video of the roof of this place, if you go to the end of the video you can see the roof in daylight. ua-cam.com/video/7LEGEpmh_is/v-deo.html

@@daveeboney7089 The more you see the more you see Dave!
Nothing we build today even comes close to what they used to build.
