It just occurred to me that a great effect to give the mechs would be to add heavyish plumes of smoke to the thrusters, especially if the thrusters are fueled by black powder.
Depending on how the game works/how development goes, id love to see other mechaknights as either npc's or alternative characters(especially if they have different designs and/or mechanics based on other common knight helms. maybe a jousting knight that moves faster forward and has a charge but might have more limited side to side movement? maybe a more heavly armored, slower knight based off of bucket helms?) Even if not I'm already very fascinated!
Can't say how gameplay will feel but the aesthethics are there already. Cell shading and the heavy feel to the mech without making them cumbersome is amazingly done.

looks great like the art direction gives a nice blend behind feeling likee your in a tale of old with the cell shading giving the vibes of story books and tapestries while the mechaknight still feels like a behemoth of steel and stone.

A rocket-powered war hammer A pole-arm like a spear or halberd for sweeping strikes. A rapid-fire crossbow A drill-bit lance and shield A ball and chain that can grapple would be cool as well

I like the heavy stomping when he walks, gives the animation a lot of weight, feels like a true mecha, same with the attack animations. Maybe add some camera wobble/sway when walking/running to sell that sense of weight even more?
I think that each individual stone on the floor is too big. Making it feels unnatural that the stone floor managed to be that flat. Comparing them with the size of the people also feels off. This is just a small detail nitpick though.
I dunno. Subjective take but I like it on the steps. I think it's subtle enough to not be distracting. Might try dialing it back on the sword swing impacts just to maintain visual readibility in combat.
Just one thing for the sense of scale: You guys have to make the pavement/ground much smaller-looking. After all, pavement is laid by humans, for human use. Pavement stones as big as the mech's foot, when the much smaller peasants are running around, makes for a big break in the suspension of disbelief once one notices the discrepancy. Still though, I'm excited for your game!
I'm extremely curious to see more mech designs! Especially if they are all equipped with some sort of melee weapon. A skinnier polearm combatant or a bulkier mace wielder. Some enemies that could be cool to see are some eldritch horrors! Not specifically cthulu but maybe something similar. Like an Elder Brain that telekenetically throws buildings and rubble at you.

If it's going to be like a medieval version of MechAssault, complete with destructible castles & towers, I'm in.
