Since I did this, Martin Heidenreich made an excellent video where he compares Albion One to ProjectSam's Orchestra Essentials, which uses a lot of Symphobia instruments. Check it out!

Really interesting, thank you! Fun fact, I recently made a comparison of the sound of Albion One vs. Orchestral Essentials, so I really enjoyed yours too
What a great video, Martin! I'll add a link to it below. After I made this, a friend told me it would have been helpful for me to have done direct sound comparisons, as you did in your video. I'm doing a future video where I take a single world instrument and demo all the virtual instruments that have been made from it--and I will use direct sound comparisons as well as feature comparisons. Anyway, always good to meet another ProjectSam lover. Good luck with your video.
@@ReidRosefelt thank you so much Reid for your kind words. Yes, I love Project Sam, actually I'm working on a review of OE 1&2.Thanks to those I'm involved in a real cool project now. More about it soon...
Tiger, a very comprehensive video. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Thanks, Dainty!
Really good! Very in-depth. Thinking of getting one of the Project SAM libraries now. This really helped.
Downloaded the free version the other day and started to have a lot of fun playing with the multies. Thanks again.
You won't be sorry if you get anything by ProjectSAM. And Symphobia 1 is tremendously better now with the new interface that just came out. They are a great company the way they keep doing free updates.
This was a really good video! It has a very good overview of the entire set of articulations for the string libraries and the sound comparison section is not super long either. It’s also great that you mention tips about sales and how the UI is laid out, since so many other videos focus only on the sounds, which are important, but aren’t the entire experience. Thanks for this!
Thank you. I particularly appreciate it with this video as I had terrible problems with the sound. I’m glad you could still find it useful in spite of that.
Big job comparing these two. Thanks Reid. I know the trouble I went through comparing these exact same libraries before making a decision for my first orchestral sample library. Hope this helps others in their decisions.
My dream is that many years from now, people will find this video somehow and it will be of some help in making their decision.
What did you choose in the end?
@@RogerBadgerDSFlyer - I chose Albion at the time. That was many years ago now. I think either is a good choice for a starter but there are other choices now too. It is a very busy marketplace. I don’t use Albion much anymore but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t. I suspect it would be similar had I chosen Symphobia. The virtual instrument universe is a very long and very deep rabbit hole and sometimes requires pocket depths to match. Not always but, often.
Very interesting - I am torn between the two may end up getting both. Thanks for taking the time to go through a lot of string articulations.
Thank you, Electron.
Good review, Reid. You Tube seems to have messed around with the notifications so I have only just picked this up. Biggest frustration on Albion for me is the minuscule GUI as you point out. PS - Entertaining and fun beginning to the video too :)
Thanks, Martin. Glad you liked the beginning.
Very nice ! Thank you. 🎹❤️👍
Glad you liked it. Of course, now the Symphobia user interface has been completely reworked and it's even better!
Awesome video! I would get both lol!
Yes, and both Symphobias are much better nowadays with the new user interfaces. And they are currently on sale on NI. I'm not sure if Spitfire still has their Apex deal on now, but Albion One was 50% off this week.
Cool video Reid!
Thanks, Temme!
Damn, I love the string effects that Symphobia has! :D
Thanks for this comparison. I've recently jumped into Project Sam and totally underestimated them. (I have a few Spitfire products, Abbey Road and BBC Pro plus others). I have to say, Project Sam is really surprising me. While the sound is very upfront, which is great for Epic, I've been able to match it to Abbey Road with a simple room placement. I really love the tempo sync, the multi's and note stack features along with the EQ's. These alone are tremendous time savers and keep the flow of inspiration going. I consider their player far better than Spitfire's native player. I've been flirting with getting Albion but between Project Sam and Orchestral Tool's Ark series that I also have... and this review... I don't see myself buying into what appears to be a legacy product without updates. (Unlike Project Sam's dedication). Thanks for this!
Yes. They did massive updates to the user interfaces of their main products and gave it away free to their customers. And one day they reduced all their prices. Spitfire is a wonderful company, but more people should learn about ProjectSam and consider their stuff.
Reid, I love the intro sir that was ingenious.
Music libraries were invented by Satan himself he's always trying to temp us.
Producers spend eighty percent watching UA-cam videos and twenty percent creating music😂
Thank you for your contribution, sir it was well received.
Somebody noticed the beginning!!! Thank you, Darren.
@@ReidRosefelt I loved the beginning, and it was my pleasure.
cant really hear what you are saying - the audio is doubled and the levels are low. get the basics sorted.
I agree 100%. I was utterly disgusted with the sound in this video--it pains me to listen to it-- but there was no way to fix it. It's hard to explain--it had to do with the way Sony Vegas works. After this, I changed to Premiere Pro, which cost me a lot of money and weeks of time to learn it. Since then, nobody has complained about my sound. But I do apologize for the inconvenience to you and everybody else on this particular video. But do be aware that I have spent thousands of hours and dollars making UA-cam videos and have never made a cent from them.
I kind of like it. I feel like I'm being schooled by a Transformer.
