"In 1979, computers were robot houses"
Jomboy's history major paying dividends once again
In 1993, cellphones were robot bricks.
Hahaha, that one got me too. Had to scroll down.
😂😂
I had two personal computers in 1979, and they fit back to back on one big desk.
I feel horrible, I laughed through that entire baby commercial just watching the boys expressions just drop
The absurdity of it just coming out of nowhere, wow.
Same, but I don’t feel bad about it lol
laughing through the tears lmao
I lost it when Jake yelled hike and then to see what the commercial was actually about
I was literally laughing the whole time...I’m a medical student, don’t tell my school 😂
Can confirm that awning commercial was from the early 2000's, absolute nostalgia bomb when it came on, reminded me of watching Adult Swim late night as a kid, the awning commercial was a staple of night time TV the real ones know
That was such a blast from the past
Seen it so often I remembered every moment.
LOVE IT. They would change the price just do a different voice over during that part of the commercial
Yes!! I remember when the "discount certificate" price changed, hence the reason for dubbed 2 male voices.
@@ssgtzaleski4243 but they keep re-editing the price so the voice over gets longer every edit, its wild how much that commerical has been jpeg'd
Allen Ludden (the host) was married to Betty White from 1963 until he died in 1981.
So as someone who regularly watches Buzzr with their grandparents... The Sunsetter Commercial has literally been on air forever.
I remember seeing it in 1998.
It's like that AC commercial.
"You said you'd call yesterday!"
"I'll call today."
"You'll call now."
"...I'll call now."
Up there with mesothelioma guy.
@@LuxRoyale I second this.
@@everydayhero5076 I was thinking like early 00's def around that area
For anyone unfamiliar to the format of the old game shows, it was very common to just end the show mid-round. Also the first girl that was eliminated had 100 points so she was from the episode before.
This is what was called a straddled format. Games would be interrupted in the middle of play because the show wouldn't have enough time to finish the match, which would then pick up at the top of the next program.
@@drewzuhosky6826 I didn't know there was an actual term for this format. Learned something new today, thanks!
@@Nwonu96 Straddled game shows were quite common in the older days. It gave viewers reason to tune into the next program to see how the match turned out.
@@drewzuhosky6826 Makes complete sense, I can tell it works because I want to see how far Tex got in his winning streak, he was playing a good game.
@@Nwonu96 It isn't done in modern times-- since nearly everything on game shows is now self-contained (the matches end within the episode's running time.) _Millionaire_ has almost always been straddled.
I love the green screen. I'm not sure how I feel about Jakey's melon head hiding the clues. On one hand, I have to play along with the game to guess. On the other, part of the fun is knowing the answers while they're trying to answer.
Sometimes it was his head, sometimes his arm/sleeve... it was a new game: guess which Jake body part or clothing item will block the clues next! ;D
Man, that baby commercial really got to me. I was born prematurely and my mom told me they kept me in the hospital for 4 weeks, I was touch and go. I also had a heart condition that I got from my mom so the doctors thought I didn't have much of chance. When she brought me home for the first time she gave me the nickname "angel". I'm 27 now and she still calls me that every once in awhile. I came for laughs dammit 😭
So... the Game Show Network can eat a bug?
Meeting Friday. If it goes poorly, they can eat a bug of ducks.
I haven’t laughed this hard since the end of The Mist. Welcome the fuck back boys lol
I hope it was a very different kind of laughter, lol
Return of the Kings
FUCK YEAH THE BOYS ARE BACK.
BLAST THAT PASSWORD THEME WE ARE ROCKING IT!!!!!
Also the ending to this had me crying in laughter AND sadness!
also you should make a baggage jersey and retire it in the office, complete with SPRINGER nameplate on the back.
#69
😂😂😂. Wes was genuinely hurt he couldn’t come thru for that guy. He’s a gamer.
The sigh jomboy let out when that announcer hit the *they will die* made me laugh so hard i cried
Jomboy & Jake
It's a running tv game show, so if you watch the next episode they will start with these same contestants. Or if you would of watched the episode before this one, it would of ended with the start of these contests. Also this was a 30 mins episode & they usually did 2 back to back, so you got more out of it.
ya i dunno why they were so confused about this, have they never seen a show with this format before~?
Legend has it these contestants are still playing this game right now
I remember that Sunsetter awning commercial, it ran for a while-- it used to have a different price when the commercials first started, and then they lowered the price of the awning, so they dubbed over that dude's voice with someone saying the new price. Sloppy!
The next episode picks up where this one left off, hence the "shorter" first round/contestant, and the abrupt ending lol
I feel like Wesley seduced more than just Tex this episode
Seduced me for sure
Seduced my whole goddamn family
He is a damned good looking and charming man.
Found Jomboy through his baseball breakdowns but in the off season I started checking out their other stuff and now I'm here. I have no clue how this channel hasn't gotten more traction tbh
That March of Dimes ad was a JOURNEY
How broken we all are is amazing!!! It’s your classic build to an ending you will talk about forever
I need these two watching late night tv more. That 2 AM poker show is a starter
"I liked Rizzuto as a host." Great one, Jake.
The March of Dimes commercial really killed the mood
that was a top tier watchin' episode. the reaction to the kentucky derby guess gave me a six pack from laughing
This was not the ending I was expecting. Fing devastated
Man Wesley was sharp as hell this episode. And the woman calling them out for cancelling Jeopardy should be a VP in programming.
That's the lady from Bewitched! Jake and Jomboy... never have seen it, I'm guessing. I've only seen it because of Nick at Night, but it was on there all the 80s and 90s long, IIRC.
Before Jake and Jomboy there was Tex and Wes.
I hope you guys are safe with this. Losing Watchin' Baggage sucked.
no more Baggage???
@@chrisdub846 nope, GSN found out about it and put the hammer down
Just binging on these and as a game show fan I am happy to see you're enjoying all of these as much as I do as you're likely bringing these shows to a new audience. Keep on watchin', Jomboy and Jake!
I used the see that sunsetter ad all the time from 2003-2015 in Florida
My parents retired down to Florida, and every time I went to visit I saw them like 20 times a day. I'm confused how if they originally cost less than $700 (probably $699), a $200 coupon gets you one for as little as $599.
Same in MA
Glad I waited to watch this with you guys! You guys just watching the commercials had me dying.
completely lost it through the baby commercial holly hell 😂
33:25 "Who won?"
The March of Dimes, obviously.
That March of Dimes commercial was depressing
Who knows who won, but apparently “some” of the contestants walked away with sun tan lotion, mac & cheese, and windex. No clue if they got all of them or maybe Tex just got some Windex and a beautiful awakening
Tex was the defending champion coming out of this program [he'd won Alphabetics in his first trip to that round in this show and made his second trip to the round later on in the show.] The rules of _Password Plus_ stated that a champion could stay on the show for a maximum of seven matches, including any and all Alphabetics playings, or until defeated, and Tex had already been to Alphabetics twice. Tex unseated the previous day's champion in the completion of the previous day's match at the start of the program.
21:55 i lost my mind hahahaha 😂 so funny
What a rollercoaster of an episode!
"Make your home look like an RV, Sunsetter Awnings." Should be the tagline. I think i remember seeing those ads in the 90s.
With how hard that commercial hit I was expecting Jake to get his phone out and start a donation rolling, your patreons would support it!
For those still wondering, the sun-setter awning commercial was made in 2005 and is still today regarded as one of the best commercials of all time.
So glad you boys weren’t deterred by the network to not be named. Keep the content coming, and the watchin’ crowd will follow!!!
Jimmy confusing Kojak and Kodak was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on Watchin'.
The commercial with premies hurts my heart. My son was 3 months early...
That one commercial reminds me how common those late night phone dating companies were. Used to see those all the time late at night, especially on Comedy Central
These are so good. Solid gold 💯
Your faces when the baby commercial was on, was fire. I could not stop laughing. I might be a bad person but that was hilarious.
Im 12 and i watch these old gameshows every day im gonna admit it
watching u guys watch the baby commercial was the most emotional thing ive ever seen
This was an incredible emotional rollercoaster 😂😂😭
Without googling it or checking further. I would guess that the Sunsett Ad would be from between 2007-2012. I only say this because I'm English and have been going to America with my family each year since I was 1 till my current age (22) and I remember seeing that exact advert on TV when I went. And just from memory/nostalgia I would guess I was somewhere between 9 and 13 when I saw it. I might be slightly off though. It's so funny because I never would've remembered that I had seen that ad just from my memory, but to actually watch it, I suddenly could remember every word and expression perfectly, and a crazy wave of nostalgia hit me and I felt like I was a little kid again in Florida ahaha. Anyways, love the vids, keep them up!!
Whoever uploaded this is a complete monster. I'm calling Homeland Security.
I second this.
"Tom hanks" is def my favourite moment of jomboy and Jake
And the more subtle follow up of "good guess"
The match's winner was determined on the next show.
With the straddled format, matches were interrupted due to the show not having enough time to resolve the game.
The target score to advance to Alphabetics was $300 at this point in _Password Plus_ (as this was a 1979 episode). Later in the run, (its final season of 1981-82, to be exact,) the target was increased to $500, which remained through the entirety of the run on _Super Password._
When time ran out on this episode, the _TV Guide_ puzzle was left unsolved by the contestants, and thus, no one had scored any money. Even if a contestant _had_ identified the puzzle, the match would still not be resolved until the next program as this was the first puzzle of the match and was worth $100. Tex was going for his third win.
Having to endure that commercial for a Windex and Kraft Mac n Cheese plug is pretty dang savage. Windex and Mac n cheese?
It didn't realize that I could be simultaneously traumatized and laughing my ass off.
*Now that was an incredible watch!*
Welcome back Jomboy and Jake!!
This is basically my wife, father-in-law, and me watching GSN or Buzzr hahahahaha
that was almost as bad as the ascpa commercial with the dogs. will NEVER forget that from my childhood
In the aaaaaaaarms of an angel...
@@ethanh6370 SARAH MCLAUGHLIN
Fly awaaaaaay from here...
At 10:16 my boy Golly-Gee-Alpha's himself a kiss and she got flustered
21:55 a moment that will live in my head forever
I keep going to skip the commercial and then Jimmy starts talking again and I remember what I’m watching. Haha
I remember seeing T.V. Guide at my grandparents place in the 2000’s. It might still be a thing
We love the Sunsetter Retractable Awning. We love it
Password is like Match Game in that it’s basically winner stays on. So Tom Hanks was the winner overall in this episode, but he may get beat early next episode.
Was waiting we haven’t had a watchin In forever love it
When is the March of Dimes charity live stream guys?
How much money did Jimmy and Jake give to The March of Dimes after this?
The last few minutes were an emotional rollercoaster
the boys faces during this commercial @28:57 😂
I also lived in Midland for a time, now this is a game show I can relate to!
Don't know if anyone has said this but on Password Plus, the episodes aren't self-contained like normal game shows. They use up all the time and end where it naturally does. That's why they were on the last round before alphabetics at the start and ended abruptly at the end.
the “Tom Hanks” at the exact same frame sends me everytime
Allen Ludden (the host) hosted most versions of "Password" until the early 80s. The original version aired on CBS from 1961 to 1967, and again on ABC from 1971 to 1975. This version was hosted by Ludden on NBC from January 1979 to October 1980, but he had to quit due to health problems. Tom Kennedy took over until its cancellation in March 1982.
The show would return as Super Password in 1984, and Bert Convy, formerly from Tattle Tales, would host it for its entire five year run.
Jeez. Love you guys
19:08 Fun fact: Former CEO of LifeLock CEO once publicly displayed his SSN to show confidence in the system he ran. He was subsequently a victim of ID theft 13 times.
I have literally not laughed so hard at any video on UA-cam before! 🤣😭🤣😭
Watching your reaction to the march of dimes commercial made me laugh so fucking hard. It was amazing.
I was in tears that whole commercial im going to hell
You guys have never seen even a single episode of Bewitched? You make me feel so damn old.
I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time with the baby commercial and ending.
I remember the awning commercial. My grandparents even had one. It’s from the early 2000s
24:07 "Savalas. I couldn't think of Savalas I'm sorry ... I couldn't think of Telly Savalas" He played Kojak in Kojak
The Sunsetter ad was run originally in 2000. Buzzr is still running reruns of game shows to this day
Watched Jomboy for the amazing content, left grateful for my national free health care.
Absolutely gutted at the end lol
I remember that sunsetter retractable awning commercial vividly from maybe 10 years ago.
The sun setter ad was originally recorded in 2004 and was still running at least as recently as 2018 according to an article in the Boston Globe.
31:45 rewatched this ending so many times.
That sun setter ad started coming on im the early mid 00's for sure. I watched a lot of cable then lol
No “Stuffed Cheeks” jokes was a real missed opportunity
I remember seeing that sunsetter commercial on crappy local tv circa 2004, it's at least that old if not longer.
I'm from midland shouts out to this man
That March of dimes commercial was worse than the Sarah McLachlan animal cruelty ones! Goddammit I couldn't stop laughing!
I believe that the background behind the sun setter having a voice over is because the commercial is originally from the 90s and the price increased. So the had the voice over actor redo the lines with the new price.
Do What's My Line? Someone has posted nearly all existing episodes on UA-cam. Go back to the 50s. There are quite a few ball players in episodes.
Terry Savales was _Kojak_ and was absolutely classic. Wesley probably felt so bad after that one he brought Tom Hanks in the back for a line and a fuck.
