It took me way to long to realize Lucile was so terrible at making soup that she kept burning it... to the point where she just ended up feeding it straight from the can.
I really hope we get to see how this story develops. At this point I am starting to become too invested in these characters to simply have my final moments with them being "And now you know how to play, I hope you make your own adventures".
If my players decide to try the "reset the recovery damage clock" and get caught, I might be tempted to force a sanity check. I mean, common. Anyone who deliberately tries to hurt themself in order to GAIN health must be insane, right?
No, have you never injected medicine, pulled a dislocated limb into place, cut out infected flesh or go through surgery? I actually love the idea of cuts to recover and treat it as surgery. But I also play with home brew adrenaline rules and the rule if your HP is at or above 80% you heal 1 HP an hour of relaxed activity like reading or eating a meal since it's just minor scrapes at that point.
Actually cutting someone open so you can remove something that is causing pain/damage/disease is literally just surgery, there is a way to treat dislocation by dislocating it again and putting it back how it's supposed to be, injecting serums also work by hurting yourself in the process so it isn't as insane as it first sounds. But someone cutting their fingers off to heal from a burn is insane
This video series is hands down the best RPG tutorial I've ever seen, it really bleeds charm. I love the narrative, the character interactions, and the graphic design is wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the sections on combat, I'd love to play an indie videogame with the style of your faux-JRPG. I'm getting all my players to watch this series, and I can't wait to see what comes next! (I hope we get some more merch featuring the Lucille art!)
Happy Birthday, Lucille! Cake, Ice-cream, and Presents come only after you finish leveling up your size, edu, str, and build! Come! You must eat your veggies before your dessert! Oh, and by the way, welcome to Adulthood! Ah, I really do wish both you and Scott earnest congratulations on your upcoming tastefully extravagantly delicately proportioned wedding with the promise of many beautiful children to come. I feel quite certain they shall all grow into their full Innsmouth looks after you have many happy years together with Scott before you hear the Call of the Deep [Ones] and head out for an Exciting Eternal Life of CoC Adventures under the Sea! Happy Birthday!
@@antytrend Let me impart you forbidden knowledge. Lucille is from the city of Insmouth, where the citizens make deals with the Deep Ones, a race of humanoid fish who offer relics in exchange for human women to impregnate. The children of these women grow as normal humans, until they hit 26 years old, and become one of the Deep Ones and return to the sea
I just realized. Isn’t it kind of ironic that insanity can be cured by a good nights sleep in a game named after a story where people get communicated to, and eventually driven mad in their dreams?
My good man, I have been loving the hell out of your CoC videos. I'm a relatively new keeper (been GMing for only a few months) and have found these videos not only extremely useful, but solidly entertaining. You have a way of explaining things that makes it seem much more simple than how the book presents its information. It also helps that you summarize the information into brief segments that get the information across, all while having a pleasant-looking animation in the background.
I really hope he covers Pulp Cthulhu and some of the other rule modifiers the game comes with, like the different time periods. Pulp doesn't get covered very often sadly but I adore the modifications, it makes for a fun slightly more campy adventure.
Thank you so much for making these videos. I've had an interest in RPGs for quite a while and after I binge-watched the first three videos, I got extremely interested in CoC in particular. I just got the Keeper Rulebook last week and am reading through it, planning to host a small session for a few friends. Also: For a tutorial series, both animation and story are superb. I really want to know what happens next and always enjoy seeing a new video in this series pop up among my subscriptions. Thank you very much for this.
Congratulations CJ, your sponsorship is the one that's finally going to get me to check out Raid: Shadow Legends. This marks the second game you've gotten me into. The forst being CoC 7e of course.
If you mean Pathfinder 1e, forget it, it's an old ass system with wayyy too much to cover, and dnd 3.5 guides do 95% of the work. If you mean Pathfinder 2e.... there's a chance, but don't hold your breath, it is unique enough and very fresh, so guides are sure to come out, but the popularity of it to warrant guides is debatable.
Thanks for making these videos. As a new keeper and player to CoC this has really cleared up some of my confusion regarding some of the wordings of the rules. I have suggested all my players watch these as well.
during this journey i have fallen in love for these characters and seing that it is about to end, part of me is worried about their well being, i hope they get a happy ending ;-; (or at least that you continue this story later )
i'm sad ;-; @SciDarkReal for real tou, i understand that call of cthulhu is a story that most likely is gonna have a sad ending, but i think that there should be the possibility of a happy one, if there isnt a way for the players to win, than there is no point in playing the game, even if it is hard, to achieve, there should be a path to victory @@SciDarkReal
Heh. Got to love these videos. ... Of course, I started procuring the Old West setting book "Down Darker Trails", so now I'm stuck imagining this party running into an Investigator version of Sheriff Bart from Blazing Saddles as he Fast Talks a cult by *taking himself hostage*.

We don't know. It is possible, but not everyone from Innsmouth is a deep one and even among those that are not everyone manifests... In fact it might even be that not everyone who finds themselves turning into a hybrid/deepone was one in the first place.
So, I have a question; when my character reached age 20, they got an EDU boost that pushed the score over 90; does the character gain Sanity as they would with a skill?
Wait, if Lucille is from Innsmouth, does that make her a deepone half breed? Also what going to happen to Scott? Are he and Lucille ever going to be a thing? I'm to invested in this story to not know what happens!
She could also have been an experiment to see if they could identify people with the that heritage OR she could simply be an orphan from innsmouth… But yeah it is possible she could have the innsmouth look.
New Keeper here. Just got the Starter Set to start playing with my Daughter and her boyfriend. Can someone answer a newb question for me. How do you measure time in this game? What is a days length to this game? It can't be talking real time, right? The same for hours of the day. Like reading a tome takes 3 hours or if someone has a major wound they have to roll CON every hour. Is time just based on house rules or does the game actually have a suggestion? Like visiting a location consists of 5 game hours or after so many player choices an hour passes. Please help. Very confused.
Looking for someone to settle a discussion. Regain x point per hour/day /week... Is that real time or in game time? Let's say regain 1 point per hour, and we have a character make an 8hour journey during a 2hour game Does that character regain 2 or 8 points? thanks everyone, now we just have to convince that one guy of it.
in game. imagine actually waiting for a month for the sanity recovery. if its real time the keeper looses the ability to give the players the proper breathing time they need or keep them in danger when they need too. if your in a cultist hide out and take a week away it would be unfair for everyone to have gotten a week of rest when the characters didnt really get that
