I love the look of that frame. I had a lower end green Kuwahara when I was in 5th or 6th grade. I loved it. My favorite bike I ever owned. I was heart broken when it got stolen. I was not smart and had a cheap bike lock. Cool ride. Nice job.
I have the 1987 Magician Ex that I bought new in the Blue/White combo. There was a gray/pink one like you built in the store that day. Overall, a great bike. I did crack the seat stay eventually, but aside from that the frame and fork lasted through years of abuse. You did some nice upgrades from stock - the Dia Compe brakes are way better than the Lee Chi originals.
Had that exact same bike! Saved all my paper route money to get it. I had the wire wheels tho.
Wow literally you’re bring back my memories, to that era,
Thanks!
I remember putting these together at the shop back in the 80s, we had so many Kuwaharas
What did they sell for back when?
@@dennisd4452 Overall the Kuwahara Line was between $239 and $300, unless you went with the Bravo Team Model, then you you in the $500 range.

I've been thinking about getting one of the newschool repop magician frames, this has convinced me to do it
I had an Ex in blue and white back in the day. I’m trying to find one again. It’s proving to be a difficult task.
Damn it's beautiful,nice colorway! 😮
Clean. Real sick.

I have a 1987 yellow Kuwahara Magician EX. I'm too big to ride a 20" bike nowadays, so it just sits in the garage.
You should sell it
clean

I own an 88 Magician in yellow. Original owner!
Did you grease any of the (head set,bb.)bearings? Nice bike.
