Why do you go back to the dacron for bottom fishing ?
Dave great video without bull💩, making Dacron tying it an every man’s go to way. Well done bud thank you I will endeavour to adopt you method in future 👏👏👍
Brilliant really helpful
I can see the logic in the figure of 8 knot as it is a stronger knot and doubled makes it very durable will do this from now thanks Dave
Hello Dave, love your videos , have helped me loads with my canal fishing up here in the NW . Quick question...have you ever thought of doing a quick instructional vid on using beam scales when you have a mo or after a match? It's a thing a lot of people don't know when they start.
A girls hair clip works well instead of using the diamond eye threader , plus cheaper 👏🏻
You can buy a diamond eye tool for just £2:99. Don't be such a tight ass.
Thanks for the video. I changed to just using the beads for my fishing. Instead of doing a double overhand which is completely fine, I just find by making a loop then doing an overhand knot, once cutting off the excess, it has a better point of contact for the rig to sit back on. Sorry if that doesn’t make sense much.

Nice ....i always used dacron even shallow ....time change my shallow conection cheers dave
Dave. I've been using Dacron connections since my canal days with Gaswise Liverpool but I've never used or seen it tied like that. Thank you. Will definitely give it a try next time
Glad you put this on. I think the elastic is fantastic but had two breakages at the connector in matches since swapping from hollows.
As always another great video, well shown great tips👍
As always a very informative video many thanx
Hi Dave, on the darconless top where do you attatch your rig. Probably silly question but I'm new to pole fishing. Thx
Hi Eddie, the rig is attached via a double loop, on the end of the rig. Pull back the bead and loop the rig behind the knot on the elastic. Then pull the bead back into place, covering the rig and the knot.
Thx Dave, I understand 👍
Nice one Dave 👍
Brilliant Dave so much easier than the method on the packets. I use the figure of 8 knot a lot on line and its never let me own, cheers mate
Best knot there is, in my opinion👍
Brilliant video
Please can you do some closer shots of When you do the doubled up nr 6 elastic
Will do👍
With light dura slip like the no5 would you use a dacron or a plastic stonfo type connector? Thanks 👍
I use dacrons on all elastics over a size 4
Thanks for the reply 👍
Turning school teacher too - love it --- am old school I use over size stonfo connectors lol
Maybe it's time to make the change🤔
Av got no excuse for getting the set up wrong - gunna be interesting doing it with a number 3 solid gudgeon bashing 😀
Tried your method of tying the elastic up (they even look good on Sensas match topkits) and am looking forward to using them on the seemingly "devoid of fish" apart from gudgeon 😂 Llangollen canal tomorrow 😁
Thanks
You legend😁
Your welcome 😊
Is this knot better than using a regular figure of 8 knot in the elastic and lasso the dacron behind the knot? And how do you know when to replace the connection in the elastic? Thank you for showing this method!
Using the figure of 8 knot this way is definitely better as the pressure of the dacron is spread due to there being 2 pieces of elastic against the dacron.
The lasoo method just sits behing the knot on a single strand of elastic, it doesn't matter which knot you use when doing this.
Always check your elastic before a fishing session and look for fraying around the ends of elastic. This is a sign to change your elastic. The thicker the elastic, the longer it will last.
