The painting guide that appears in the video was downloaded for free from minairons.eu/en/35-downloads where there are quite a few regiments of both the Catalan army and the French, Portuguese, etc. Thank you Mr. Minairons!
God, I envy you your eyesight! These look magnificent! I don't know if this will help, but it may save you a couple of steps. Back in the 70's, a truly gifted miniature painter suggested that I (1) Paint my figures as if I was getting them dressed. Start with skin tone, then stockings and cravat, then breeches, then shoes, coat, hair and hat. Once base coats were applied, dry brush with light colors, then wash with dark colors. I can't say as my minis ever came out as good as yours, but I suspect they came out faster. You did a remarkable job with those little faces, and the moustaches are amazing! Your channel just gets better and better!
Your friend gave you a good tip for painting, concisely summarize the steps of painting from the inside to the outside of the piece. The face is the most important thing we see of a person, our brain works that way, and I think it's the same for the figures, it's appreciated when they have well sculpted faces, which must not be easy. Thank you!
Great job dude congrats! I couldn't get how faces turned out to be that good suddenly, can you give me some tips or advice a video where you practice it more clearly?
I have on my workbench some grenadier figures from the same series which is my next project, I hope to be able to paint them and upload the video in a short time, I will try to get this part of the painting better recorded so that it can be seen clearly. In my other infantry videos of the channel I follow the same process although they are 15 mm, it's so simple that it really goes by very fast... works very well when the figures are sculpted with as much detail as these; paint flesh-colored as base, mark the crevices well with a sepia or flesh wash, without fear that it is too dark, and illuminate again with the same flesh color of the base or a slightly lighter color a little diluted but only in small, more protruding areas. Thank you for your kind comment!
