    Well finally…..here it is for you guys. My highly requested tamales recipe. This recipe is very, very dear to my heart since I have so many wonderful memories making tamales with my mom and sister growing up. Oh, how I miss them and wish they were still here so we could do this again.

      New Sub here. You stole my heart when you said your recipes are from your mom and sister who are no longer with you. So the recipes are yoyr memories. You see I always say that everyone has a story to tell, that makes them who they are. I am a retired grandmother and I am thinking of starting a cooming channel as well to help to suppliment my retirement income, which is peanuts. I am also raising my teen granddaughter. She also recently started a YT channel as well. It is about theme parks and recreating some dishes from the parks, or restaurants etc. Maybe if you like, please subscribe to her channel down below👇

I bet you have some good recipes 😊. I'll definitely check out your granddaughter's channel. Take care and much love to you ❤.

    like you said everyone makes it different. Good video however for those who had no clue of how to make this your version of belizean tamales. in the west where im from tamales is a totally different style im not sure, but what you made is what we call bollos, and tamales is a more finer and thicker part of the white masa, and not so much col. so not only is it made different in all of belize, but depending on where your from in belize they have different names too tamales and bollos.

    • @CookingwithShirani
      @CookingwithShirani  5 років тому +1

      My family is from PG and they all make it kinda the same. I've noticed the other cultures in PG makes it different also. That's interesting I've never heard anyone call it bollos.

    • @gabbydjc
      @gabbydjc 5 років тому +1

      Right..like up north bollos is actually made with beans mixed in to the corn. No meat!! Belize has such a rich diverse heritage

    • @CookingwithShirani
      @CookingwithShirani  Рік тому +1

      Hello! I'm so glad to hear that, thank you 😊. No, the yellow corn won't affect the way the tamales come out. The only thing I don't like about it is the strong smell.

    • @CookingwithShirani
      @CookingwithShirani  5 років тому +1

      Hey there! You can use anywhere from 1 to 2 teaspoons. Start out with 1 first and see what the color looks like and be sure to taste it. If you put too much it could have a bitter taste. Good luck with your tamales and please let me know how it turns out 🙂.
