      New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove Regarding aprx min 46: I am extremely curious what you and Pierre can discuss regarding the immense amount of Greek translations which derive from the students of Leo Strauss. Considering a new call to translate the works of ancient times, reviving the esoteric teaching as they do is similar to the hermeneutics Pierre exhibits in other videos. See Arthur Melzers book, Philosophy Between the Lines. It is curious the book admittedly from the outset, refrains from a consideration of esoteric which includes mystical aspects.
      The videos with Pierre are amazing. I wish Alan lived longer to have given Greek philosophy more consideration like Pierre eventually did. Perhaps you can do a video on either the esoteric translations or one about the late Alan Watts himself.

    This conversation is a great example of how humans shall talk to each other. Listening to them makes me wonder how low the conversations in our US society have fallen to, not even considering the social media conversations. Thank you for keeping the candle still burning.

    Since Helen Duncan, a British medium, who had been imprisoned in 1943 for witchcraft was mentioned here: She, during a private seance, claimed that a dead sailor had told her that a British warship HMS Barham had been sunk during enemy action. Present was a lieutenant of the Royal Navy who learned shortly afterwards that the ship was indeed sunk. Suspecting that Duncan was a German agent, she was arrested along with other guests. Duncan later appeared in court charged under the Witchcraft Act. Churchill, who was attributed with "second sight" and himself consulted with mediums was furious when he heard of the trial. Duncan was jailed for 9 months - released early due to pressure from Churchill. The Witchcraft Act was repealed some years later during his second term in 1951.

      @anonb4632 4 роки тому +1

      The Duncan trial was a lot to do with the war. Firstly there was the fear she could pass on info to spies and secondly that she might end up demoralising the public which would be bad for the war efforr.

    25:00-26:12. It's always interesting to hear how intentional mistranslation is used to shape culture and beliefs. How many other distortions are there? It's unsettling to consider.
    At the end...Pierre is on a mission to cleanup the "distortions". Hallelujah!

      Peggy Harris The Greek word αυτός may mean either the 3rd person pronoun, the 3rd person reflexive (oneself,etc,) or "the same" according to context. I don't believe there really has a lot of mistranslation going on. Rather it's closer to the truth to say that one might bring out a reflexive sense in a few cases. The word is extremely common because of the role it plays in communication and the purposes it serves. It's appearance does not indicate, by itself, self awareness anymore than any other text. I think something more needs to be brought out of the text in terms of the psychology of the actors to make that case. There isn't a lot of internal monologue in the Iliad or the odyssey. Both stories are told very much from the third person point of view.

    The Planets were the Gods of all antiquity - worldwide. The mythic 'archetype-ture' was historical experience that became unbelievable even a few generations after - where the cultural shift from the emulation of and sacrifice to 'Gods' of terror, to the cultural development of history, philosophy and the underpinnings of what became science. But the archetypes or archetypal patterns remain the hidden structure of our split mind or subjective 'consciousness' .

    @31:01 I have Experienced this.
    Shortly after, was bowed down before the Creator of All. Brilliant, Beaming, Brightness, flowing steadily and thoroughly everywhere, projecting Existence. Invisible yet, still had to adjust My eyes to fully gaze upon. I recognized the Presence before I saw. All bodies bow. I can easily see why now.

      It was a different era. I'm not sure whether you're referring to the gay factor or the pedophilia factor, but either way whether you understood it entirely or none what so ever is irrelevant for our view of it through our modern lenses will distort the image of truth and reconciliation of those times.

    If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, . . .It is the will of the Father who is in heaven that not one of these should perish (Matthew xviii, 12, 14) "Meditations of the Tarot; Christian Hermeticism" 'Receiving Astral Baptism' - could repay his karmic debt. 'Tarot: Contemporary Course of Occultism" Maybe the fine Sir could revive the Emerald Tablets? Little less on the 'what', fractionally more on the solution 'how' Aperture Please, make no mention of Greek tragedy from the past or of current struggles in Greece with pensions and turf battles with Turkey. Similarly, Vatican corruption, molestation, women in priesthood. Or economic malfeasance. Trust me I have seen Nobel laureates from other disciplines. More taxes to Caesar, no way, Jose. Brexit say yes to sovereignty! Down with gaming the system. Reproductive rights and entitlements could be adjusted somewhat. Walls of Belfast no joke. With friends like that . . .
