currently on book VIII of the republic, this elcture has definitely helped me understand it better, i thought the main aim was the perfect city, but i guess socrates does say in like book V that whether or not it can actually become a reality is irrelevant to the larger argument. Great conceptualisation of the dialogue, more focused on the questions that arise from reading it, helps put it into better perspective.

From what I have seen, he usually uses Rouse. Also the Loeb editions. That is what I have seen him use in the past. He also uses Rouse for his great lecture on Plato’s Apology.
