Awesome experience, thanks for sharing and hey you can really Hussle that car! My track days consisted of an old 89 CR-X, lots of mods but damn good fun and that's what it's about . Cheers from New Zealand!
Joe Hutchinson I drive an M4 and just after the new year I’m going to spend a day at M driving school and I can’t wait! I think it’s great to get out and really put these cars to the test and enjoy them. Keep it up you are going to be running the circuit soon. Rick
The only place your can truly experience what a Porsche can do is on a race track, especially a powerful car like the GTS. You can do lap after lap with no issues...many other “sports cars” overheat only after a few laps.
Great driving Joe. Your videos are always cool. And that looks like the most amazing 2 days. People truly underestimate what a great track car the GTS is. Please take a look at my GTS at Silverstone in the UK. All the best...
My favorite track... and, one of the fastest for a beginner! I had problems with turn 5 & 11, eventually came to terms with 11... While not as high speed, try Summit Point main track near Martinsburg, WVa, the closest track to me. Lime Rock as well, though a shorter track... Listen to instructors, and you will absolutely be faster!
Excellent video! I plan to purchase a Cayman GTS 4.0 in a few years and I will definitely take this course. It's the perfect way to get to know your car on an intimate level and learn to drive it really well. Great job, Joe!
I'm from the area, excellent job! I'm a Porsche guy too. I took the bmw driving course years ago at Nurembergring and my instructor was similarly good as yours...you've got the bug friend! I'm not a wealthy man myself, make your dreams come true!
Hi Joe, glad you enjoyed the Glen, I was there last weekend with lme GT3 and had a blast! If you want to do more track days, my buddies are I are doing a bunch outside of PCA as well :) great content as always
I’ll have to investigate track days outside of PCA. If you have organizations you recommend, let me know. I’ll still do PCA events but opening up to other organizations may fit my schedule. And thanks for watching!!!
Awesome! Thank you! This video was soooo much fun to make because the experience was very enjoyable. And I learned a lot from the very experienced Porsche Club members there. A great time.
What an awesome track day Joe, hope you go back this summer hint hint! Thanks for the info between sport and sport plus. I didn't know the nannies were reduced so you controlled the car more, that makes sense. Also watched your tire pressure video and bought the Guage. Going to "The Streets Of Willow" this weekend w my son in law, can't wait. Also on an edmunds discussion they described the dramatic difference of the feel of the road for everyday driving adjusting the tire pressure system to COMFORT PART LOAD mode and reducing front to 31 psi and rear to 34 psi as porsche recommends in the owners manual. Makes a big difference. Gonna do that in the morning. So excited I can't go back to sleep so I'm watching your videos 👍😎🏎
Great video Joe, my wife’s daily driver is a Cayenne. I’m in the market for a Boxster or a Cayman, It’s a budget thing, I should have 45K to spend by the first of next year. And the whole purpose of me wanting a Pcar is not because I want to look cool driving around town l, it’s because I want to do this. And look cool driving around town in the car. I want a Porsche to do sports car things, and you’re showing us how it’s done thank you so much. Keep them coming love it
I hear you! I love looking at Porsches but I also love driving and Porsches are meant to be driven. And honestly, if some unforeseen life event dictates that I have to sell the car, I don't want to have any regrets, like, I wish I would have done a track day to see that the performance really is, I wish I auto crossed the car, I wish, I wish... No I've done it! And I want to keep doing it as long as I can!!
Joe, I am a Macan owner of just a few months. I have a family now and a 911 is not practical at all. But once my kidos grow up, I am planning on getting a 911. I think I would be totally fine with a base 911 without any special packages, extra loud exhaust, extra power (really, am I going to notice a diff between 4.2s vs 3.9s?)... I just want a car that I can enjoy everyday very easily. Question for you is...now that you've had a GTS for a few years, would you think that I would be missing out on something if I went that route?
I’ve been to one HPDE, when I owned my e46 M3. It’s the most fun you can have with your clothes on!! Great content!! I’m no driving coach, but you were doing pretty well from what I saw. I’m also a fairly new, but enthusiastic Formula 1 fan. Eagerly waiting for March 15th. Do you ever consider putting out any Formula 1 content. Post race comments or anything? Have you been to any events? I went to COTA in the fall and had a great time. Plan on going back this season. Keep these coming!
Thanks so much! And I loved my HPDE experience. You are so right!! I learned so much and had a ton of fun! Hey, good idea about F1 content. I’ll think about that. I’ve been watching F1 for so long that I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years. It still fascinates me.
Good for you! It personally annoys me when individuals buy sports cars and never experience the purpose they were engineered for, but to each their own. Good video, I especially enjoyed the sound of the n/a GTS.
@@Joe_Hutchinson Last week I bought my 2015 GTS. So pumped! My first Porsche and I am so impressed. I can't wait to get it on an autocross course and race track.
i live in corning this is my home track i used to go there every year as a child and play with my toy race cars in the dirt on turn 1 during the race :p
Nice Job Joe! Looks fun! I have a GTS as well, would love to track it someday. I recently did a mini track event at limerock, in one of the dealerships 911's. You can definitely feel the difference in performance from 4s to GTS!
Great Job Joe ;really enjoyed this video..got me all pumped up taking delivery of my GTS in a week or so ..I’m in NY would love to get involved with Porsche club..maybe see you around ..
Hi Victor, Congratulations on getting your GTS. I am sure you will enjoy it. I had a blast at this event. I am excited to do it again. Hopefully I will see you at one of these events!
Awesome video Joe! I just recently started HPDE 1 last year and have done two tracks so far. I’m hoping to make it out to the Glen one day. Hope you are staying safe and well 🤟🏼
@@Joe_Hutchinson awesome! I’m saving up for a small utility trailer so I can bring an extra set of track wheels/tires up there. (About 5 hrs one way) so probably won’t be until 2023 or 2024 before I’m able to book an event at the Glen 😁
Thanks for watching Chris. A track day like this does accelerate wear of tires and brakes but one track weekend like this does not wear them out. I had plenty of tire left and brakes were fine. At the time of that track day, I had 23,000 miles on the car and before the track weekend, I had done 6-7 autocross sessions on those brakes and still had plenty of life left on pads and rotors after the track weekend. Tires will wear before the brakes, but that’s true without any track days. I hope that helps.
Thanks for watching. The GTS has the standard windows and normal amount of sound deadening. The Carrera T and the GT (2, 3) models have less sound deadening. The T and the RS models have the lighter weight glass for sure.
Hey Joe, went on my first track day with s Cayman gts, 2018 with turbo and I kept the that car in sport mode only. I noticed that when in sports plus the revs stay very high too. But with the low down torque with the turbo wasn't sure . Next time I will try both modes. What do you think ? In sport was fast enough for my first time on a track. Good job on the videos.
Well, with your turbo engines you have more torque down low. I found that in my NA car, I preferred the high revs because that’s where the power was. Also the PDK seemed more aggressive and was smarter about gear selection in track conditions. Just be aware that I felt the car move around more in Sport Plus than in Sport. So keep that in mind if you switch back and forth between laps. Boy, isn’t your Porsche great on track? These cars are really at home on track. Such a fun and exhilarating experience.
@@Joe_Hutchinson thanks Joe, first time. It was a blast. Nola track only holds open track days about every 4 months for beginners, track day lite has no passing. I will do a few more, then maybe look into NASA or PCA. But lite track day was good enough ! I'm kinda getting scare about tracking a new car with no track insurance ! Take care and safe.
@@waltvancourt5052 I enjoyed my experience with at the PCA DE event. As a beginner, an instructor must be in the car with you. I found that very informative. Also, no passing. Both of those things were fine with me as a beginner. I need to gain more experience. And yes, I was without track insurance. Probably not the best idea here. But it helps having an instructor in the car with you to keep you out of trouble.
