I'd like to point out an error you made: Patti Disney -- who cited Ariel's overhearing of Eric's wedding announcement -- wasn't Walt Disney's daughter, she was the wife of his nephew, Roy E. Disney.

From what's been popping up in recent years i'm relatively sure this was being done using live action reference. Not to take anything away from it but i think they definitely used video to their advantage (whole part of your world was taped first). And then they create this woke abomination of the movie... so sad that new generation will grow up with this new crap instead of original...
