Baby's T-Shirts change color as he gets darker and deeper into the criminal underworld until he gets pure again.
I actually knew that from reading an interview with the costume designer! She was like, "No one is going to notice besides me, but I still love it."
His glasses also get lighter as he rises out, to the point where at the end of the film, one of the lens' are completely gone!
I watched this movie on an airplane with earphones on. Whenever Baby takes out only one side of his earphones, your corresponding earphone will lose music from it. It's so trippy, very detail oriented.
Wonderful!
Ha that's awesome.
God Bless the sound designer! That's awesome. People talk about whether some movies should be seen in 3d or not, but I've never heard of seriously differing experiences of earphones vs stereo.
wow that's freaking brutal on detail. now i feel bad watched it on movie because nevertheless Baby put out his earphone, the sound will still there LOL
Not just that.
During the first scene, when the police car drove by while baby was listening to music, the siren is heard by you from the left, even when the camera frames the car on the right. That's because the car was on baby's left. You're pretty much always hearing scenes from his perspective throughout the whole movie.
The sound design team did an astounding job on the movie.
There's a shot in the parking garage with Baby on floor "P3". The shot has Baby to the left of the sign and his real name is Miles, so it's MP3.
That's way too insane. Seriously?
jesus fucking christ!!!!
Holy nutbag
probably a reach but still very cool
Not sure if it counts, but in the elevator after the first heist, Darling says that the restaurant Buddy is gonna take her to is the finest winings of all the fine wines in town or something. And that's how Baby asked out Debora. More evidence that Baby only knows how to pretend to talk by quoting others until he finds his own voice.
He's a sampler
That's why he's a "Baby": he only repeats what others say around him. When he becomes Miles again, he gets his individuality.
thats why he records people. damn,...
He samples conversations like he samples music
I am sometimes flaberghasted how "true fans" of Edgar Wright hate Baby driver. The movie is so detailed, i think it is a special thing about him - the details and nuance.
I enjoyed Baby Driver and as always I deeply respect Wright's masterful craftsmanship but I'd be lying if I said I liked Baby Driver as much as any of the Corenetto films. The heart is just lacking in this film. There's a certain emotional connection that Frost and Pegg bring to those other films that they're just not able to recreate here. They try with Baby, Deborah and Joe but personally I was never able to emotionally invest in them at least not fully.
I love it, but it took a 2nd viewing to get there. All the details are more subtle. Scott Pilgrim was super obvious and in your face. The Cornetto Trilogy weren't in your face but still a lil subtle at times. Baby Driver felt almost (music) straight forward until I got the blu-ray. That's when I could see all the details and foreshadowing I was looking
That's because they're fucking morons. Baby Driver is a detailed masterpiece of a movie. Not saying it's the best movie that exists but it exceeded all of my expectations and I did feel an emotional connection to Baby.
I wonder how fans can be so hateful about this film. Every time someone points out some details I haven't seen before - and I've watched Baby Driver on TV four times till now! I consider this and Scott Pilgrim vs The World the top 2 of Edgar Wright so far!
Darling makes a comment about Buddy "seeing red" when he get's angry. In the fight against Buddy at the end, Buddy's face is lit only by the red light of the police car's dash while he tries to kill Baby.
Also, when Darling is shot and killed, Buddy hunkers down next to the red tail light of his car while he seeths. It is also fairly obvious, but a nice callback to what she said.
Red also signifies the current villain, or possibly signifies evil - Bats always wears red, when Darling tells Buddy to kill Bats, her face is lit by red light, and the ones you mentioned.
On the tv before she says that there's also a bull chasing after red.
Happy that Edgar Wright has shared this video in twitter! He has stated that, "Spoilers beware, but this is good. It's also just the tip of the iceberg".
The camera flash one tho! Talk about attention to detail
Lol legit the only one I noticed first time I watched it didn’t connect the dots tho
In the very beginning when Baby is banging on the red Subaru you see a police car drive past. The best part is it is actually incredibly obvious but Mr Wright focus' the viewer's attention on Baby so most people miss it, it's the reason he goes in reverse instead of forward in the start.
Excellent spot mate!!!
Exactly! I noticed that as well!
yup. griff points forward for 'go' and then looks at him confused.
also their faces in that scene when they find out how good Baby really is...
In the opening title sequence, look at how smoothly everything is going for Baby. And then watch when he sees Debra for the first time, look at all the chaos that comes into his life on the walk back to the hideout. It's a metaphor for the whole movie.
+David Connor good one mate!
Based on Edgar's commentary track on the Blu-Ray, the chaos is from Baby returning to the crime life when he's returning the coffee. Everything goes smoothly first because he was walking away from it for a while.
Superb analysis
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie with so much symbolism in my life. Absolutely genius!!
El Camino is a good contender
The Simpson.
@@thepariet7706 Or just Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul in general. Both shows are amazing at subtle background details and visual story telling though probably not nearly to the degree of a movie like Baby Driver.
You should watch other Edgar Wright movies, they're on the same level if not higher with the symbolism
What really blew me away was this: in the one scene where Baby zaps around on the TV, there is one "program" who shows the music video of the song "Blue Song" by Mint Royal, which Edgar Wright directed. In the music video a driver sits in his car dancing to music while a bank robbery is happening. I noticed that, when i watched the movie a second time :)
Yeah i literally just commented this too. Rewatched it 2 days ago and noticed that. Wright really does add in some neat stuff.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed that haha. Cool movie and cool song
On the Dinner, while Bats, Darling and Buddy are arguing, you can see Baby in the background slowly grabbing a napkin and a pencil to write the note to Debra.
Wow I guess I'll have to watch this film again, so I can observe this point better.
The names on the tapes are all movie references.
If you pay attention, the music is synced with every little thing. To the shots that are fired from a gun, to the car horns, even to the steps he takes. It's worth another watch to catch this
In one of the scenes where Baby is watching TV, a quick flash of Noel Fielding is on screen. This clip is taken from the music video Edgar Wright directed in the early 2000's, and was actually the original inspiration for Baby Driver.
during the second robbery when they play “Neat Neat Neat”, the first lyric says “Be a man can a mystery man”, Bats, JD, and Eddie are wearing Austin Powers International Man of Mystery masks
His shirt slowly gets darker from start to finish
But it's white again after he gets out of prison - he's done his time and been "cleansed"
Clicked on this with a smug smile like “I’ve seen all the Easter egg videos there is but I’ll watch anyways cuz I love Edgar Wright”
Seriously you got some I’m here that are in NO OTHER videos on UA-cam, nice job! I wasn’t expecting that!
I didn’t get the Tinnitus one tho..?
Thanks mate! There is a 'hum' sound heard at the start of the film and at some places when baby removes his headphones.
When it doesnt have any music in the background, you can hear the little noise that Baby hears all the time.
I have tinnitus and I couldn't hear anything in that second scene you put in.
For the opening car chase when it cuts to griff even his chewing of the gum is in sync with the music. Amazing detail
Everything is in sync with the music! Wonderful!
All About Shots they also have the graffiti saying “dance” during the opening car chase scene
The part in which baby is flipping through the channels, the last channel is where there is a bullfighter and the announcer says something like"Now he must do this on foot" foreshadowing the running scene
The lyrics during the opening credits where the only one I caught... damn.
But one that's obvious but should be included anyways is that whenever Baby is driving for Doc and the gang, he's always wearing sunglasses, and when he's with his adoptive father or Deborah, he's not wearing them.
Everyone missed the foreshadowing of Spacey being blinded by balls on a kid.
Also Bats' line "Fuck your baby".
HOLY FUCK!
my face when spacey got alone in the elevator with baby.
When Baby is watching TV he sees a bullfight, and the spear (or whatever the name of the object is) that the matador uses has a red piece of cloth at the end. The metal bars in the truck that kill Bats have the same appearance
Also the bullfight commentator says: "he's done what he can from horseback (foreshadowing killing Bats), now he's going to have to finish this on foot (foreshadowing killing Buddy)"
I love this! The only easter egg I notice is the lyric one. The rest was truly awesome though 👍👏👏
nina capila yes i was like with why do i see the lyrics every where
The lyric is not actually an easter egg tho. They were meant to be seen.
One thing I noticed was how you have the character DOC, and then you see the D.O.C. on the backs of all the inmates of the prisons uniforms. I always assumed that was how Kevin Spacey got his code name.
Wow great video I didn't know about thoses
Edgar Wright have improved so much since Shaun Of The Dead, and the thing is, Shaun Of The Dead is still one of the greatest movies,
He became one of my favorite director the moment I've learned that he made the cornetto trilogy, when Baby Driver came out I was so happy he made another movie
Edgar Wright for president !
Edgar Wright is fine as a Director thank you very much
you forgot Scott Pilgrim.. another awesome movie
Scott Pilgrim, I have to rewatch that movie because I remember that I didn't liked the story, but I loved it in the humoristic way, I also remember that Ramona theme was fantastically relaxing
Anyway, we all agree that Wright make original movies that add some fresh air to cinema
Agreed! but president of what? He's British :P
No his best film in terms of the script alone is Hot Fuzz
i noticed those lyrics on the wall from the first time i saw the film in the cinema!
This explains why JD left his shotgun and many more! jesus m8 great video
Thanks mate!
What if Baby copy all those lines from the tv because he obviously couldn't adapt a normal conversation with his foster parent?
And he never went to school either.
Glazin' Ghost oh wow I never thought of that
true that’s so sad
Brynn McKenna Buddy: You know why they call him Baby right? Still waiting on his first word.
@@glazinghost5951 thats why he says "Trex" instead of "T.Rex" with the Debora song
One that was missed: Buddy says he sees red when he gets angry. When he is driving to kill Baby at the end his face is entirely red.
on the tv there is also footage of a bull fight as some foreshadowing
Wow very good video
I was expecting it to be a stupid "heres 10 things you missed, did you know baby had them headphones in, cause he uses music to down out his tinnitus! Wow how crazy is that!"
but no! it was interesting stuff that I genuinely missed!
Jackson2143 Thank you!
opening shot where baby exits the building and begins dancing looks has two yellow stripes running through the middle like a road
everyone else dies by getting shot (or death caused by getting shot at least) but only Bats dies by getting stabbed and his name backwards is *'stab'*
Also Bats gets stabbed just right where the heart is in his King of Hearts sweater he's wearing in the first scene.
In the laundromat the colors of the laundry are blue, yellow and red, which are reoccurring colors in the movie. Blue and yellow are worn by Debora and red signifies both Bats and Buddy, the good and evil of the story. Also the cars buddy and baby use in the garage chase scene don't have shifters in the steering column, I'm guessing other cars were used that had those types of shifters, for aesthetics. Also the entire audio of the movie is based on specifically what baby is hearing. If bats taps his left earbud, you'll hear it in your left speaker.
Also the same number, 28071987, is written on the wall at the beginning of the movie. The same wall where "slide" is written I believe.
really ? I missed that ..
Wonderful!
All About Shots also during the planning for the bank heist they reference finding a car on the heavy side in case they need to "push cop cars off the road". There aren't really any cop cars in that chase, but baby does use a heavy vehicle to knock buddy's cop car down the center of the parking garage. May have been foreshadowing.
im sorry but you're wrong, police chargers do have column shifters to make it easier for the drivers or something and newer mercedes also have column shifters
I haven't seen this anywhere else and I can't believe people haven't noticed it yet, but on Baby's prison uniform it says D.O.C. which obviously stands for Department of Corrections, but Doc was the reason he became involved in serious crime in the first place and eventually prison.
Edit: Also solid video man, keep up the great work!
one that was missed: After the 4 quotes on the tv, one of the tv stations says something along a bull fighter being "unable to finish the fight with the bull on horseback, he will have to finish on foot" which kinda foreshadows the fight between buddy and baby, where they gotta get outta the car to fight him, if that makes sense (also, darling saying "When my buddy's angry, all he sees is red" or whatever, thats kinda a refrence to the motif of buddy being the bull, as bulls chase red sheets
I don't think Baby quoting lines is an easter. It's a huge part of understanding his character.
Yes, definitely! Few people might've missed that.
In the scene when Baby runs back to the appartment to get the money and Joseph, the camera pans past the shelf with Baby's records that are strewn on the floor. In the mess you can see the albums that contain the songs that Baby listens to during crucial moments in the story, such as Bridge Over Troubled Water (Baby Driver) by Simon and Garfunkel, Focus II (Hocus Pocus) by Focus, Harlem Shuffle by Bob and Earl, Sheer Heart Attack (Brighton Rock) by Queen, and Modern Life Is Rubbish (Intermission) by Blur.
Another trivia - this is Kevin Spaceys last movie!
It was actually All The Money In The World, but his part got cut and replaced. Fuck Kevin Spacey.
technically it was billionaire boys club, but that still hasn't been released. i reckon kevin chose a good movie to end on
Super cool. I only really noticed the graffiti upon 1st viewing.
The heart surprised me the most!! ❤😄
This was prob my fav movie of the year. Edgar Wright NEVER disappoints! I’ve seen it 4 times and I’ve never noticed most of these!! Awesome!!!!!
Password is :banana
When baby talk with her "dad " he say :"I don't listen I'va a banana in ear "
Sorry I'm french😅
good one
Darling says that when Buddy is mad all he sees is red. Then at the final fight the cop car that Buddy is driving is lit red.
excellent spot!
Thanks!
You got that from the Audio commentary?
xyoxus Haven't seen the commentary (I should, though). Just seen the movie a couple times. The final fight is one of my favorite scenes :)
Baby also uses the 'best wining and dining' quote buddy tells him to Deb
This is so awesome, thank you so much for sharing! Edgar's tweet brought us to this tweet and we're so happy it did! Keep up the solid work, we can't wait to see more!
Ovation Thanks a lot!
Edgar Wright's tweet brought me here
Isaac Calabrese same
Oh ? What is his tweeter ? Can't find it
In one scene at Baby's home you can see the video for "Blue Song" by Mint Royale on a TV in the background. This music video was directed by Edgar Wright and was the inspiration for Baby Driver.
I had noticed all the song lyrics on the BG, but that was all i saw. Thanks for the rest!!
For a relatively new channel, I gotta say these videos are top quality! Stick with it and I can only imagine how good they'll get.
I'd really love for you to cover all of Edgar Wrights' movies too, he's my fav :)
Thanks a lot!
I caught some of these but a lot of these blew me away. Great video!
Thanks dude!
Look how the clothing on Baby changes more to black as the movie progresses
Symbolism? Showing the growth of "Baby", in a, more dark and cold way?
I love this movie and missed that black heart turning red. Also, since Pierce Brosnan played a teacher in Wright's The World's End, is that Brosnan with a beard on the bench during the Harlem Shuffle coffee run? Great video. Thank you for pointing out these extra special touches in the film.
Thanks mate! Even I doubt Pierce Brosnan, am not sure.
A fucking masterpiece.
Great video, and some new evidence to prove that baby driver is so the best movie of 2017 !!
This is why I love Edgar Wright
This was awesome!
I noticed all of these because I love this movies so freaking much but that rainbow one caught me so off guard 😂
The match cut was in your face but all the rest of them I never noticed! This was awesome !!
Every Edgar Wright movies always pleases the audience eyes and ears, but when you focus on those pleasant things, it pushes the story forward.
Such a underated channel man love your videos dope points
You missed one of my favorite things about the movie. In the intense gun fight scenes, the shots line up with the music and it's something so small but I appreciate it so much
This is an amazing video. I have to write an essay on visual and audio rhetoric in Baby Driver for my film studies class and all the videos I could find were just pointing out the same things, but this one includes details I haven't seen before. Thank you so much for uploading!
Baby's shirt gets darker as da movie goes on
"When buddy sees red..." (from the diner scene after the butcher shootout) and then in the parking garage scene at the end a red light is shining on his face.
This is the best movie of 2017
HOLY SHIT I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE THESE, how great is this movie
This just makes me love the film even more, Edgar wright put so much care into the continuity of every shot
This was awesome! TYSM
WOW..........JUST WOW......
1:56 griff is a Schrodinger‘s cat
This video is mental, great job
Channel deserves more subs!!
great video man
Its awesome, what an effort and dedication u have put in to this video, Marvellous
Thanks mate!
Wow missed basically all of these!
I am your 1000th subscriber! Love your videos..
Thanks a lot mate!
Baby’s shirts get darker through the film
Wagman Studios then turns white cause he clean now.
Thanks for this video
😍
That is completely AWESOME !!!
1) Right in the beginning when they showed the title, the two yellow stripes of the building represents road lines.
2) Right when Baby comes out of the building to grab coffee, there was nothing on the left side glass/mirror panel at the entrance but when he returns after getting coffee to enter the building, there is a red writing.
3) During the walk to get coffee sequence, when the song sings the part "I don't want you to scuffle now", Baby ducks a bunch of scaffold wood carried by two construction workers as he "scuffled" at close range.
4) There's a lyrical "No More"right after "Woah Woah Woah".
5) When the song sings the part "now get into your SLIDE", he dodges the cyclist before he crosses the road.
6) The lyrical "shake shake shake"appeared only right next to "right"after he returns to the building.
In Addition:
The song Neat Neat Neat had lyrics that says "Be a man can a mystery man"is a reference to Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery.
Jon Spencer the artist who sang the song for the intro car chase scene appears as a jail guard with a mustache at the end who had the lines, "You got a letter kid".
Excellent mate!
they also wore austin powers masks
When baby orders the coffee, he goes yeah yeah yeah let me get 4 black coffees, yeah x3 comes from the song and you can hear it when he says.
good video! subbed :)
Amazing video, did not catch these
Great video
Man I love when they make the effort to hide those little things throughout the movie. Nice vid
Great vid, now I love Edgar Wright even more)
:O I'm so impressed with the quotes!!!!!
Also, when Darling is talking to Bats, she mentions how when Buddy sees red all you see is black. When Buddy steals the police car, the only color from the lights that shine on Buddy is the color red. The mural's car is the same as Baby's car although you pretty much covered that one! great job, there were so many I missed
That's Edgar Wright for ya, the master of making small details so much more cooler
Edgar Wright strikes again!
The “you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain” is a super important quote Ansel’s character’s house in The Faust in Our Stars which he previously starred in
Wow! Everything is connected! Love the movie🙌🙌
The title of this video should be “why Edgar Wright is one of the most talented directors alive today”
I only knew about the quoting thing from another video on YT. I didn't pick up on any of this the first time I saw the film. Baby Driver impresses me more and more the more I find out about it :O
Good job! 👌
Just makes me love this movie even more, the amount of detail is just incredible!
In the quick TV clips Baby skips through, Noel Fielding is seen for a split second. He's in a music video for Mint Royale's "Blue Song," which was directed by Edgar Wright. The video features 'car dancing' very similar to the opening of Baby Driver.
Doc never uses the same crew twice, but he does re-use criminals he likes. Edgar Wright also doesn't use the same track twice, but he does use remixes. When we first meet Bats, Eddie No-Nose and JD we hear "Kashmere" by Kashmere Stage Band. Next time we see Bats we hear "Holy Calamity" by Handsome Boy Modelling School, which features a chopped up version of "Kashmere."
Baby's t-shirt gets darker as he falls further into the world of crime. Its starts white in the "Bellbottoms" getaway and ends gray by the "Brighton Rock" finale.
While Baby and Debora are partaking in the finest wining and dining in town at Bacchanalia, Doc is spotted with two big guys. One is Killer Mike, aka half of Run the Jewels, and the other is Big Boi, aka half of Outkast, aka Atlanta rap royalty. With their powers combined, they make up 2/3s of the track "Chase Me," which is heard during the end credits.
I think you have the foreshadowing one half-right, since it does foreshadows a death, but since the toy car is blue I think its rather indicating how Bats eventually dies, considering that he dies on the blue car.
I would say the car is Blue, because usually that color is associated with the Police.. Buddy dropped in a Police-car !
( Oops.. just realised that's a 3-year-old comment !)
One of the best films I've seen in a hell of a long time
