My band just got 3 Alto TS308’s we’re using as monitors for rehearsal and live. They work wonderfully. We can line our bass and guitar which works perfectly and it’s a very sleek setup

So I had a headrush pedalboard and was running it into the alto ts312. I was using 1/4" instrument cable though, not XLR, which might be why when you changed from the HR to the Alto it was quieter. The Alto may be treating the XLR as an actual mic input vs a 1/4" being treated as a line in. What I did was have the alto turned all the way down, then had the headrush all the way up, and backed it off until I wasn't getting signal peaking on the speaker indicator. Then adjusted my "in the room" volume from there. I plan to do the same with my Helix when it arrives later this week.

Personally, I think the Alto "sounded" better

The head rush has that 2000 Watts, gives you that extra headroom for multiple inputs like 2 instruments or an instrument and a mic.

So, the guitarist likes the HeadrusH because it sounds better for guitar , for a personal monitor, while connecting the HeadrusH thru its lineout to the Alto 315 PA.
With that connection will the PA sound better or the same as just connecting the floorboard an Alto 315 as a monitor and then to an Alto PA, it seems that if one uses the same speaker for a monitor , adjusting it to suit , then the overall PA sound will be better.
While using the Alto 315 for both the PA and monitor.

This was a awesome video to go by. Plus the comments on here are truthfull so it really expands one's mind on whi h too choose. Im running a Roland TDK-17 drum kit. And I am in need of a powered speaker and I was looking at the Alto on website that ultimately sent me to this video which is right on due to my indecision. Guess the answer is the HR. 👍

I thought the Alto sounded better. I'd get the Alto and EQ to taste.

The reason your hearing noise is because you are using mic gain. Why would you ever do this? I have an Alto and its dead quit at line level and loud enough to deafen you still with my Kemper.

Hello! First of all, great performance! 😊 I’d like to have your honest opinion because I can’t decide!! I’m french but I’ll try to be as clear as possible haha, here it is, Alto Trouper vs Alto ts308 vs Headrush frfr108 vs alto ts312, (I’d buy a pair) and use them for meditative/ambient indoor live events only, usually 20 to 30 persons, sometimes about 50 max, everyone lay on the floor, eyes closed, next to each other on yoga mats, so its almost ‘dead silence’ then my girlfriend and I play instruments such as native flutes, didgeridoo, handpan, rav vast, tibetan bowls, voice, etc, I dont want it to be crazy loud, just enough so everyone in the room has the same experience, to give you an idea, usually we perform without any mics or sound system, but last time we had a bit more poeple and I felt it was not loud enough for everyone. And I’d like to add some reverb and maybe pads/backing tracks for flute solos, and I already have a good mixer and mics, Anyway hehe what would you suggest? Thanks!

very good musicians and the HeadRush is definitely different. I feel like it's got more warmth and thickness. Probably more of a "colored" EQ sound for instruments baked in.

@@gregwilliams2764 it is flat, that's what the FRFR stands for... Full Range, Flat Response, naturally not all FRFR speakers are the same, but these are as close as you can get within the price range, from what I understand

Im looking to use frfr as my bass amp with hx stomp or zoom ms69b. Will the alto 312 be enough for a small cafe gig with 2 guitarists and a drummer (runs thru their own amp). We play alternative/pop covers with moderate volume.

    • @brendanbuss1190

I believe the Alto has a mic amp built in, so it may be better for mic usage than the Headrush, but yeah, pretty damn close

    • @robrobbins4906
      @robrobbins4906 4 роки тому

@@brendanbuss1190 Actually not true. Powered PA speakers don't have anything known as a "mic amp". They just have input channels that have the ability to raise the gain high enough to compensate for a microphone. You can run a mic off of ANY powered PA speaker with XLR inputs, as long as it has enough gain compensation. Most that I know of do. I would never do it though. I prefer some kind of mixer with a "mic preamp" and phantom power, if needed.

@@robrobbins4906 ah okay, I had read in a couple of threads mentioning the mic pre-amp in the Alto but not in the Headrush... But yeah, I'm aware that you can run a mic into pretty much any PA, and had no plans of doing so, so I never looked more into the supposed pre-amp
One difference is the high frequency driver on the Alto is 1.5", and the Headrush is 1.4"... But the frequency response is the same

Hey friends, I'd appreciate if someone who owns a Headrush can help me. I was planning to get the Alto Speaker to use them for small venues, but looking at the Headrush it seems to me a good option. My question is: Do the Headrush works as a PA system as well? or definitely is not recommended for that?
