Greetings! Is it possible to print it directly from AI without having any problems with registration? Like turning each separation to black and then print them one by one with registration marks.
hey mate, ive been trying this, when ever i open it up in acrobat it "greys out" of cuts images that overlap the other ones, for examp all of the reg marks are being cut out by my first colour
Try changing your reg marks to 'Registration' colour in your swatches. If your swatches are in default mode it's the colour swatch just after the first swatch (none) in the top row.
@@distortedcrab Ok cool , if you haven't got 'adobe distiller' installed then head on over here and get your file converted for FREE! (sounds like advert haha) - convertio.co/ps-pdf/
For your similar colours, you can also go to the Swatch menu and select 'delete unused swatches'. This will leave just the colours you have used in all your artwork. Then if you are left with two reds in your Swatch menu, you know you have two reds! Select both the reds and select 'merge swatches' and both the reds will become the first one you selected. I use my wild colour for my underbases to help show chokes / traps and separate it from white overprints in the artwork. Great video though!
Richie Rich thanks, yes you can, but be careful as sometimes that shade hasn’t been added to the swatches yet, so you would first need to select your entire design and add all colours used. Thanks for your helpful tip! Appreciate it.
@@KeeponCreatingTV You're absolutely right! Select all first and add selected colours to swatches........ It's been over 2 years since I last used Illustrator! Right now I'm working on creating workflow in Affinity Designer, as I finally got my printshop up and running again and the price difference is very significant. I do still miss some of the illi features and workflow, though. Thanks again, Richie
@@KeeponCreatingTV worth a look, for sure. It's definitely missing some functions - most notably the vector trace function. But I am getting around that right now with an older, paid for version of illi, (which runs very buggy on my Mac, hence the switch). They have said they will only introduce trace, when or if they can get it running really well. What I like about affinity is that once you get your head around it, it's quite intuitive. Still some weird things I'm getting used to, like selecting items, artwork not showing when off the artboard or expanding lines before Boolean functions, but it also has loads of other user friendly features, like the way it displays measurements as you move an item. For the money, it's unbeatable, really. They keep adding features too, which you always get for your one-off fee. I think they also threw in a load of free fonts and layouts too, when I bought it. I'm not much of a Photoshop guy, but the ability to switch your artwork between a pixel and a vector environment with one button push is very interesting. By no means perfect, but it is different, with a different approach. It's not just a copy. It stands on its own feet. I reckon within 2 years time it will be a very powerful piece of software. Can't really go wrong for one off £50 price... And you can open illi documents too, so cheap insurance for your biz if your CC subscription ever goes wrong
While it's true you don't need a RIPoff software you still need a PPD driver which in your case is provided by your already installed RIPoff program ...you should mention this

HELP!!! I was doing ok until I had to print and switch to adobe postscript file and chose my printer from ppd drop down which wasn’t available 🤦🏻♂️
Same here. Is this issue that we need a printer that has Postscript?
Did you ever find a solution? I am in the same boat at the moment

@@20vK Very interesting, i've been looking at this for awhile, i'm going to have to have a close look at affinity

why not knock out the black on the base , it doesn't need an under base
Yup, I wanted to print onto multiple colours dark and light. 👍
