- Lori Janes and her coworkers at a dental office in Louisville, Kentucky, were celebrating the holidays with a white elephant party. Janes' gift was a $25 TJ Maxx gift card until her coworker snatched it away. Janes ended up with a $25 scratch-off ticket. The lottery ticket turned out to be a winner, making Janes $175,000 richer. The lucky lottery winner says she's using the money towards her daughter's college tuition at the University of Kentucky.
Good for her, I hope this money doesn't ruin the office vibe and cause trouble
It wouldn’t bec it was the doc that stole the gift.😊
It’s going to cause strife
I just hope none tries to steal the money from her...
Nope. It always does!
It’s hard to get over something like that to be honest. Especially since the prize was just in your hands and your actions caused it to be taken away.
I know she was screaming, sobbing and throwing up into the pillow once she got home 😂😂
😂😂
omg XD
for sure.
her coworkers probably hate their lives
Still sucks that everyone in that office just stole each others gifts lmao 😂
That dentist is def bitter lol
They’re gonna end up suing each other…watch.
SHE WONT GET 175K
TAXES TO THE STATE AND IRS TOO!
BE LESS THAN THAT
Even if she gets half, that isn't bad. Too bad she announced it to everyone in the office, no doubt she is going to get hit up for loans from now on.
She may have gotten anywhere from 100-120k after taxes, which is still good
I know she salty about giving that ticket away
“$175,000 that could’ve been yours.” Inside Edition trying to rub it in her face lol
@LadyKate It’s not that serious. You must be that dentist.
@LadyKate I am sure deep inside she was gut wrenched about it !!!
@@YesItsReallyKeith You know it!
I'm sure she will get something
i bet she makes that much per year, so not that much for her.
They should do a follow up 1 year later of all the drama, fallout, and jealousy in the office. I believe there is a non-zero chance of this office turning toxic.
Same haha
Youre giving reality shows a new idea for next series lol
Doc eyes
Says it all 👀
I’m here a year later and I’d love to see it
I would of stratched it privately at home - rookie mistake
Her coworkers asked her to scratch it lol but ya I would be alone somewhere scratching off tickets lmao
I mean I’m sure she scratched it like we all would have not expecting to win that much money.
I definitely would not have scratched it. I would say it would be unfair as it’s part of the game. UNLESS, the tickets weren’t wrapped. But that argument would only come up in court. Moral of the story, POTENTIAL is worth more than face value.
I’m not advocating gambling either
@@Bigolbussy I think the game ended then she scratched it
at our white elephant it’s a rule to scratch them and tell everyone how much you won
A few years back, a coworker gave everyone in the office a $1 scratch off for Christmas. I thought it was a thoughtful and inexpensive gift with lots of potential
Unfortunately the dollar scratchers aren’t very good. Still a awesome gift
not lots of potential
@@melaniemartinezfan5310 yes lots of potential
Naw...either you have some extra cash...or you have garbage. I have never won a single dollar from a gifted scratch ticket. Sucky gift.
@Barry Lyndon if my coworker offered me $1 as a gift I wouldn't even want to take it lol that person clearly needs it more than i do 😂
The person who bought it definitely cried in her car 💀💀💀
I would have fainted 🥵🥵🥵
LMAO
I'd throw up. I would never give a chance that high unless it's family or friends and we split it.
Lesson learned to never give a lottery ticket to anyone.
I'd better stop putting them in Xmas and B'day cards.
Gambling is a addiction, and should not be foisted on to another individual.
@@skankhunt3624 Gambling CAN be an addiction but simply partaking in gambling doesn’t mean you’re an addict or have an addiction to it. Just like drinking an alcoholic beverage doesn’t make you an alcoholic.
@@skankhunt3624 Not as harmful as gifting alcohol to others.
For real I seen so many of these stories 😂
You can see the pain in her eyes💀
Yup! The eyes betray that toothsome smile!
nah inside edition is just weird like that and purposely recorded an awkward moment during a facetime to try to stir up drama. just listen to the question they ask her right after that awkward part of her being silent during the facetime.
yep could have paid off her dentist loan
Honestly i feel worse for the person who bought the ticket 😂
Yup!
I'm imagining they bought other lottery tickets and this is the 1 they decided to put in the white elephant gift lol.
Same thing my husband and I said. I’d be sick if that happened. We usually do buy lotto tickets for white elephant add on gifts 😳
@@JacJo I have never bought a lottery ticket, but my sister always buys some for Christmas. We play games and you choose a ticket if you win. If any of us would win something big we would just split it. It’s just money
Not even a little to the buyer. 😂
The most I’ve ever won was 5 dollars 🤣. I’m glad she won it, she deserves it❤
Everyone deserves it
@@miggy4105 na a lot of people don’t deserve it.. just being honest

The chick who snatched the TJ Maxx card feels salty 😂
Yo, that chick pretended to be happy for her co-worker but you can tell.... inside she's mad af😆😆😆
She's dead on the inside, the rage is palpable lmao 🤣
Perhaps if she didn’t take a thing away from someone she would have received the scratch off ticket. Does she have a child? I wonder how she treats her child.
@@SethMethCS its a game buddy calm tf down
@@SethMethCSif you actually watched the video it was the other woman who grabbed the scratch off tickets out of her hand

So basically this is a warning to not to use lottery tickets in a white elephant exchange to avoid a toxic workplace 😂
i go to the dentist, everyone’s rlly nice
i been they hate her
The person who bought the lottery ticket be like: 😑😭
The person who traded it for a $25 TJ Max card 😵👈pow!
I just really, REALLY, hope that coworker doesn’t do anything to her 💀
lol
The coworker is a dentist. Probably already making bank, and genuinely happy for her assistant.
@@shobysid1009 true, but you never know. People will always want more money

I'm so happy for her. I'm glad the dentist didn't get it as she makes WAYYYY more than the receptionist. Amazing Christmas story!
Waaaayyyyyyyyy
sounded like they werent sure if they were even gonna be able to afford sending her daughter off to college. glad that thats all taken care of now :).
they never said she was a receptionist tho so you seem very dumb
@@NittyGritty420 Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more! Ohh These dentists!
The greed is even bigger for higher income people. The fact that she snatched the 25$ tjmaxx gift card from the lotto winner says it all.
I bet the TJ Maxx person big mad 🤣
Man, that coworker is a good sport. I've seen families break up over less money in similar situations. Good on her, her good karma will come. I'm sure she's bummed but genuinely happy for her friend
😂 Apparently you don't know women
She's a dentist. Her office worker is one of her secretaries. She might have thought oh that would have been cool for me to have but that dentist is already on the road to be a multi-millionaire. I'm happy for both of them
Please she’s a dentist who’ll probably make 175k in a year and a half of hard work. This mother who won seemed like a front desk lady for secretary who probably makes a 3rd of the dentist.
Don’t give away your luck is what I was told. I bought a mega millions ticket as a gift and I bought one for myself with the same numbers. Just incase
whoever gave the gift should get some of it
No

Samething happend to my mom in 2006! She won 200,000! She gave 30,000 to her coworker's to split.
Dang I would so feel obligated to share with the person who BOUGHT the ticket and also the person who I stole it from.... ❤️
20% for them, 20% for the other, 60% for me.
Me too. I couldn't take the $$ and not share it
Exactly
All coworker split.
Bet the friend who snatched the gift, is punching the air rn😳
i go to the dentist and i know her lol
is she still alive? probably those other hags snuffed her
Everyone would be blessed. I'd definitely bless my coworkers too
The sad thing is, it would never be enough. When people win money people feel entitled to more more more. If she gave them each $100 they would scoff. If she gave them each 10k they would scoff. It’s damned if you do damned if you don’t. Truly she should use it all on herself and her family
😂 more than half of that is going to taxes. Might even be going home with 30k after taxes
I know it's easy to say when the money isn't mine but I can't imagine winning that amount and not at least giving some to the buyer of the ticket and the one I stole the gift from. Good on her for not having guilt about it though it is hers, she won it! Hopefully there's no office drama.
She didn't steal it. The dentist stole her gift. That's instant karma. 😂
@@stown308 The reporter said the person she stole the tickets from so l assumed she got stolen from and then she stole from someone else! Either way, good for her!

good or not she dont deserve no got dang 175k. She needs to split it with the original purchaser.
After Tax she got 120K...noiceeee
Imagine throwing it away on a college degree

It’s just a place where normal people go in, and radical people come out 😂
The fact that you need $175,000 to be "debt free" from college is disgusting
Only in the USA
her kid better off learning a trade...hair stylist etc...
Right??
$175k before taxes. She'll probably see 100k or so. Assuming the mom will pay some debts and bills and probably buy a new car, save some cash, unforseen expenses (typical expenditures)The kid will still have debt.
Still an epic Christmas for sure.
The fact is that $175,000 is actually not enough for 4-year tuition these days in the US.
I'd give everyone who touched the ticket and the original buyer $5k consolation prize and insure they don't k!ll me

Someone should check on the lady who lost the scratch it ticket. I know it's the rules, but to lose that much right before the holidays and put her name out, I wouldn't be on a good mindset
She's going to be alright, she is a dentist after all, probably makes that amount in less than six months.

Don’t you break the person off who bought the ticket? I would.
Least she could have done was gift 5 to 10 grand to her friends at the party. Shows where her character is since she kept it all
Bro that lady that took the $25 gift is pressed right now🤣🤣🤣
Don't ever give a lottery ticket as a gift. Think of how resentful you'll be if it wins
On camera she is fine with it. Off camera Lori is fired. 😂
(Just kidding. She seems genuinely happy for Lori).
Man imagine the person who turned that down for a 25$ tj max card haha
If it were me I’d give 5k to the person who bought the ticket and say thank you for being my lucky charm.
That's it?😂 greedy AF. I was thinking more like 50/50
Personally I would have gifted all of my coworkers 5 grand or so. If they decline it, so be it. But to keep every dime shows her true character.
Before you say I wouldn't, I have received a few innovation awards at work and bought everyone on my shift lunch, twice. It's not $175,000 but it was still sharing with the people I work with on a day to day basis. The first time I did it the CEO heard about it and I received an employee of the month award that exceeded the cost of the food I had catered.
I was thinking the same exact thing. I think it kind of shows a lack of class to not give that person anything. That's just my opinion though and what I would have done. I probably would feel guilty if I didn't.
@@mrexclusive5406 greedy would be not giving a single penny and you’re shaming someone for saying they’d give $5k. Get off your self righteous high horse.

Yeah an over priced and useless education!
Giving the original person who bought the tickets and the person she stole them from $5000 each wouldn't have been the worst gesture in the holiday season!?

Here's a funny joke for you:
Why was the math book unhappy?
Because it had too many problems!
I would have been the person who picked the lottery ticket then had someone else take it away
I also just want a scratch off for my birthday
At least it was the dentist that lost the winning card and not like a receptionist or assistant.
Honestly glad an office staff member won. Dentist's make good money. And even after taxes she could bless everyone in the office with a generous gift and still be fine.
At least the one who "lost" it was the dentist. I'm sure it still hurts a lot, but she's making a decent living.
Me personally I would’ve took them back
Immediately thinks of her daughter and setting her up in life. Nothing can beat a mother’s love.
People who give scratch tickets as gifts never expect it to be a big winner. It is the cheapest gift without too much thought put into it. I'm sure her coworker will never give scratch tickets as gifts again.
that coworker that snatched the $25 tjmax card had to feel extremely salty :)
She better not share it either- not with the doctor or with the person who bought it. Starting your children off debt-free is a blessing! Go girl!
It is always better to share then to take, to give the total to no one else but her child is her choice, but if she splurges some to celebrate the win ,still her choice, but still would be a kind thing to share something nice with her co-workers, like a round of scratch-offs
I think it's appropriate to give everyone at the office at least a 1000.00. Keep the drama to a minimum.
I would've given the girl who bought it $25-50k and kept the rest. It's only fair
I'm so happy for the IRS for winning 70k lol
😩😂
The one time the lottery ticket was a winner is the one time you give it away
imagine the person who bought that ticket.
I would of said it's a dud and put it in my pocket lol
When I buy a quick pick, I always tell the cashier to hold my $2.00, in case I win! 🤣 So far, I've never won... 😭
Goodbye friendship 😅
When will people learn not give lottery tickets as gifts unless you're fully prepared to find out it's a winning ticket. And to not let people buy lottery tickets for you because they'd want a share since they participated in getting that winning ticket. It would be generous of the winner if she gave a little something like 5 grand to the woman she got it from and the person who bought the ticket but most people aren't generous when it comes to cash. Who's really winning is the business establishment called college waiting for her daughter to hurry up and pay them their tuition for 4+ years honey. * *drinks hot tea* * (because the emojis aren't showing up for some reason)
My previous boss always gave us scratch tickets for Christmas , we always had so much fun scratching them off to see if we got anything.
I'd be kinda salty if I gave that gift...not gonna lie
Wow I wouldn't be her friend anymore she isn't even offering to split it and is waisting it on college
And that's the very reason I don't give lottery tickets as gifts. 😳
Definitely should throw the lady who bought the ticket like 10 thousand just saying.

Great attitude by the doctor! Very impressive. Also, it's never a good idea for a lotto winner of any amount to release the information to the public.
