Hi Lou & Deb!! Hate to see the tree go, but I'm looking forward to seeing the new growth that will make up for the necessary loss! Thanks for letting us see you in action!! Take care and Happy Autumn!!!
AHHH! You are one brave figster. It’s a hard job but somebody’s gotta do it. It really needs to be done though and it grows back fast. Kudos Lou kudos. Look forward to seeing your next video.
Not my trees but it hurts me to see them cut. Wish I could get some of those cuttings to some varieties I don't have. Peters Honey being one of them. Good video, thanks for sharing.
@margaretmarshall3645 Hi there!!! No, it's not going to hurt anything at all, so long as I'm willing to sacrifice most of next seasons figs. Accept for the personal inconvenience that pruning may cause, such as sacrificing future figs, I'm not reluctant to prune whenever the need arises. Thanks for watching! Lou Monti
@roccoconte2960 Hi Rocco! Not many, that's for sure, but growing fig trees in close proximity to personal dwellings and such does require strict tree management from time to time. I try to look at my long-term objectives when these difficult choices arise. The immediate advantages will be that I will be able to get a net over the new tree to fend off the birds, and I'll be able to graft at least two new varieties to the remaining shoots! Thanks for tuning in! Lou Monti
i dont like these kind of pruning especially at this time before figs go totally dormant. All your doing stressing the tree and inviting wood borers or worse of them all bark beetles namley H. scabricollis
@@jrap0003 Hi there! Well, everyone is always entitled to their own opinion on my channel. I don't mind one bit that we certainly disagree on this topic. Good luck and happy figs!!! Lou Monti
Time is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes!
This is like a fig horror movie ,you should have released this for Halloween 😂😂😂

Your wife is such a good sport. You guys remind me of me and my wife in the future. Everyday she says no more figs! and yet another one appears.
Thanks for sharing Mr. Monti! Best Wishes to you and yours!😊

😂Hey Lou if you sample all the figs I see a big delay in your pruning work!🤣
So sad big bill didn't come and offer the cuttings. I wish I lived closer.
I’m surprised you didn’t wait until winter dormancy. Wouldn’t that be easier on the trees?

Good job Lou , its hard to make those pruning choices , do you think they will make figs next year?

Isn't it early to take cuttings, and cutting right back , i thought it was done in January February, till complete dormancy.
Lou are you going to make cutting available?
I would buy the cuttings 💕
Do you sell cuttings?
😢😢😢
