He simply came to watch UFC 300 and Hollowey before it started said it was "questionable" him or his belt. Then his fans said he was afraid (it's a joke that the fighter with the most knockout power is going to be afraid). Ilia responds to all that in his tweets and to the false reports that he turned down the fight. Volk himself denied it.
He did more then respond buddy looked like he was obsessed with Holloway with the constant talking about him in interviews and posting him on his story and even his recent tweet. the BMF belt is basically the hardcore belt from WWE and therefore should have a couple special belt rules. The two I'd propose are;
1. It can only change hands with a KO/submission/FOTN
2. If your fight doesn't lead to a KO, submission, or some other perf. bonus the belt is stripped and a new BMF fight is scheduled
This belt is basically supposed to reward two highly skilled fighters that are willing to actually fight instead of do glorified sparring for 3-5 rounds and get praised for being tactical.

New Rules: BMF belt can only be won by KO or TKO. You can only try to be a double champ in another weight class if you hold both the BMF belt and the belt in your division. This will stop everyone from trying to double champ and also encourage good fights with the BMF belt
So if a flyweight has the belt and a light heavyweight wants to move up like Alex he’s just supposed to wait and hope it gets passed around until it reaches a weight class he could conceivably cut down to just so he can move back up?

Chael, Ileah cannot be the BMF yet. The only way to even be in consideration for the BMF is to be someone like you, Anthony Smith, Justin G, Michael Chandler, Dustin, Poirier, Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz, or any other BMF who has endured the struggle of competition with many losses that they have had to overcome. that is why we love all of you guys is because you have dealt with the difficulty of coming back after losses and heartbreaks. The toughest guy in every wrestling tournament is the guy who gets third. That is what I’ve been telling my wrestlers for the last 30 years because I lost in the state semi finals my senior year and was so emotionally heartbroken that I lost the next round of wrestle backs. Do you know why? Because I was not BMF. Max Holloway and all of you guys have demonstrated that you were tough enough to get third in the tournament and deal with the loss and pain that you fail. So, if Max loses, he loses to Illeah, he loses the belt, but Ileah does not yet qualify so he does not get it. The BMF should have rules around it that state they must have had a certain amount of fights with a certain amount of losses. So if Max loses it, they just put it on the shelf and give it the way they have in the past - deciding who qualifies. So, they both have something to lose in this fight as far as belts go. Max has qualified to earn a shot for that title so he can pick up the 145 pound strap. If illeah loses to Max and fights his way back, then maybe he can be in the conversation for a shot the BMF., For now, he just needs to keep competing and trying to shoot for Khabib, John Jones type of goat status.

It ain’t even about what Topuria is saying! He’s just talking out of his ass at this point to get under Max’s skin in hopes Max chooses to fight him next. Topuria recognizes out of all the opponents he could fight next (Volk, Ortega, Max), it’s against Max that he has the most to gain in terms of becoming a superstar and getting the big money fights. As of right now the ball is actually in Max’s court on what he wants to do. If he wants to fight Conor or Oliveira for the BMF, the ufc will make it happen. That is why Topuria is so adamant on wanting the BMF title on the line. It opens up all these possibilities and options for him beyond 145 lbs should he beat max.
Max hasn’t had a 3 round fight since 6-4-2016. Topuria ain’t knocking him out and can’t go 5 rounds. Easy 💰

Illia doesn't meet the criteria
I love Max, but he's wrong.
It's as simple as this. If Max beats Ilia at Featherweight, then he will be the new Featherweight Champion.
If Ilia beats Max at Featherweight or Lightweight and Max is the current BMF Champion, then Ilia should be the new BMF Champion.
The BMF Champion can win it at any weight, in which the participants agreed to fight at ie...170 (Masvidal) 155 (Gaethje and now Holloway)
How can Max lose the Featherweight title fight against Ilia and still consider himself the BMF title holder? His BMF title has to be on the line, if he fights Ilia or anyone else next.
I don’t look at the BMF in terms of a title like an actual championship but instead more of a commemorative belt for a fight between two guys who have earned the reputation and are worthy of the BMF label. The featherweight championship itself basically means you are the BMF of the division anyway so it isn’t necessary for that title to be on line as the fight will have a legit belt on the line.
This statement is baseless when you’ve seen the belt not on the line before with Jorge and usman and Dana white says the belt was made off people(Nate and Jorge) because of what they done and how they fought in the cage. Sorry bud but this was pretty dumb especially when ilia own peers doesn’t believe he deserves to fight for the bmf belt because he didn’t do much in the ufc
Max is one of my favorite fighters in the UFC, and beloved by most UFC fans. Topuria is 15-0, and has ko/tko 4 of his last 6 opponents in the UFC including the previous pound for pound and Featherweight Champion Volkansnovski
He submitted an undefeated at the time badass submission specialist Mitchell and brutalized a ko specialist Emmett. .
Topuria has 7 fights in the UFC already and his fighting style is the definition of a BMF fighter.
If Max is certain that he can beat Ilia, then he would have offered to put up his BMF belt against Ilia's Featherweight Championship belt. The fight for both belts will be FREAKING HUGE!
I think he's making a financial decision, and planning to use the BMF belt to get another big money fight against Conor, Poirier, Gaethje or Volkansnovski, if he loses to Topuria.
Topuria's a younger and better version of Volkansnovski, so if I have to put my house in the fight, I'm going to have to bet on Topuria, even though I hope Max would win.

Ilia career isn’t that of a bmf and it’s to early in his career to even tell. @lays8858 Have you watched all available Topuria fights on UA-cam? If you have, then as a UFC fan and not just a Max Holloway fan, you have to be impressed by his resume.
Max is very fortunate that Ilia beat Volkansnovski, because he will never get a chance to fight for the Featherweight title if Volkansnovski is the champ.
I would agree with you, if Topuria isn't the Featherweight champ or was at the stage where he just beat Mitchell or Emmett. As the Featherweight champ, all of Topuria's fights will be for the title. As the BMF title holder, all Max's fights should be for the BMF title. I know Masvidal didn't put up the BMF belt when he fought Usman, because the belt was kind of a promotional gimmick at the time.
If you had to put $20,000 on the fight between Topuria and Holloway, who would you honestly put your money on? Why would Max not want to put up the BMF belt against Topuria, wouldn't it be the BMF thing to do?
Topuria, Holloway, Volkansnovski, Gaethje, Poirier, Usman (before he lost to Edwards), McGregor, Diaz, Jones, Lesnar, Nganou to name a few are all BMF type fighters.
First of all Max beat literally everyone in featherweight besides Volk, he goes up for a challenge bc who else was a challenge and knocks out a heavy hitter in 155. Marketing wise it sounds good but let’s be honest a lot of ppl are starting to not like him bc he be saying some dumb sht out his mouth. Then you got the people who can’t zip his pants up like he out here beating everyone and defended his belt for a hot min. No, he hasn’t achieved anything compared to what Volk and Max have holding the belt.
