I agree and and want to include . . .when the judges are talking about a specific picture - keep the camera on that picture and not on the people talking.

That was very touching. Particularly when Dalia told John what a great and loving father he is. That got me. You are right, she comes across as very loyal to her loved ones. You have a very special thing in your family.

Aw I love that tender moment of saying John’s greatest accomplishment was being a great dad. Coming from his daughter that means a lot. I also think that his “weaknesses” are a testament to his strengths. Having great talent has to be balanced with some flaws. lol
    Love the show. ❤❤❤

In future episodes, it would be awesome if we could see more processes and when the judges are talking about a specific painting, keep the camera on the painting longer and in focus (and close up) so that the audience can understand the critique/praise given to each painting. Thank you for putting this on. Like others have commented - extremely fun to watch and love all the contestants!

  • @shaystone7184

Everyone's portrait looks so amazing! It seemed that the family members got more assistance than Kate. The poor girl was saying she liked her painting, but then tried to go more abstract, didn't like it, and didn't know how to fix it. She kept adding darks to try to fix it. If someone had been paying more attention and offered her advice earlier, it might have helped.
That said, I don't think any of the mentors should draw on the canvases. The artists could ask for advice, but I think the mentors should instruct, not do it for them so they can learn.
The whole family is so talented.
Once again, I wish the mentors would explain about the materials the artists are using. I know they couldn't use paint, but they managed to make it look like watercolors. I would love a quick " if you like this looks, you can achieve it by adding water to [this]." I'm not talking a full tutorial. Just a quick tip.
Everyone was soulful and fantastic. Well done!

To the makers of this show- you ladies are REALLY crossing a line by telling these artists to CHANGE their paintings. That completely Defeats the ENTIRE purpose of seeing how these artists draw/see themselves. They’re mood that day. Their interpretation. I LOVE YOUR SHOW! But this has been an ONGOING theme thru every season. Shouldn’t you be just looking and letting them do it themselves. The artists are trying to tell you the same thing in their comments. Please just LOOK! Don’t tell them changes they should make that they haven’t even brought up.

Since it's a competition, less instruction and correction would be nice. I'd love to see what the artists can create on their own without interference. I love the challenge, though, of self-portraits and the interview portion - great idea! Also, leave introverts alone. I love Daphne the most! :)

Their kids personalities are all heart and soul. I so wish I could have a team like them with my son. I think he literally would start to talk. Have to say that I think Dino's was the best "likeness" to how I would perceive his personality to be like. But have to go with John as the winner for his amazing talents. I believe his all around art piece depicted not only his likeness but his style which I felt was what was asked for...

  • @janinafisher101
    @janinafisher101 Місяць тому +1

Wow! An amazing challenge with results that turned out better and closer than I would have expected at the beginning. Dino's painting is my overall favourite for its honesty and simplicity. There is no guile in this painting, and I think that reflects Dino. John's is beautifully rendered - his drawing experience definitely showed up here, but I actually preferred it in the early stages before he added ink and colour. Dalia's is really beautiful, and I do wish she had rounded her jaw line to reflect what it actually looks like, because she has a lovely, soft and striking face. Dafni's looks quite a bit like her, and my only critique of hers is that her image took up so much less of the paper than some of the others. Kate's painting is a good painting, and in a way did seem like her - a lot of focus on the physical, and no real sense of who she is inside. The painting looks more dramatic than she appears - and in that sense a bit "fake." I think Elli hit it on the head that Kate painted herself more like a supermodel, and it's interesting that Jake also mentioned that she looked like a combination of herself and someone else. To me it's the Kate as she is, combined with the Kate she wishes she were. Well done, everyone. I am betting that each artist learned a great deal about themself as a result of this challenge!

Elli picked a great guy to be the father of her children. Daddy is a great guy and a very great artist.
Dino and his sister look like twins. I think he sees his sisters so much he saw them in himself and drew a picture of Daphne.
Kate would love for be a supermodel and that is how she wants to be seen.
Dad likes to be tough. He is a sweetheart but really gets perturbed with his Wife when she give her “2 cents”. She needs to stop touching his work. And drawing on someone’s else stuff is really not cool. She can share what to do but not touch the work. As a 15 yrs old I was very upset with an art teacher who painted my work. I scraped it all off and made it my way. It surely wasn’t good at all but it was mine

Jake was the one gifted painter you had. I really dont like this reality type show as it could ruin a person's confidence for life. As painters are sensitive people and what one person likes another might not like. It defies the talk that course proposes that basically anybody can be an artist. You just have to work hard get the skills and produce the work. I can see why the accademic art world would not like this approach to art

Best comment ever!! They should absolutely NOT be telling them how to draw it or giving specific opinions. That completely takes away from the artist doing THEIR OWN interpretation. Ya know? I think it's great that they teach them. We are so used to shows that focus so much on winning and that it has to be on their own; that we are also used to people becoming too competitive, selfish, envious, calculating, dramatic, etc. It's refreshing to see a positive environment within the challenge and socially, where people can be safe to be open, help each other, give advice, share, and teach. The people who benefit from it are the artists themselves. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life or hasn't received the same amount of instruction. So it's actually more even if they all get to learn in a motivating environment. Whoever has talent and room for improvement will pick up on everything they teach, which will only end up showing who can become great. It enables the artist to show his or her talent better. Why leave them with the same set of skills? There is always room for improvement, even for the masters. This also sets a good example for artists on how to be partners instead of enemies. Having said that....they shouldn't draw or paint in the actual artwork. They could show things on a spare piece of paper. 😂

I suppose it can be seen as a bit of a quandary. I mean, it’s wonderful that the overall atmosphere welcomes a helpful mentoring/learning perspective, however it is a competition I guess so I’m not sure whether or not anyone should really get any direct outside hands on help other than critique and maybe verbal help but hey, it’s a beautiful “show” to watch and I can’t get enough so I don’t really feel the need to critique their choices. I’m just thankful for the ability to watch these people do their thing! ❤❤

PLEASE.. PLEASE.. as hosts… don’t give personal opinions. I can totally imagine how I would feel as an artist if one of the hosts/judges suggested something (and I hadn’t intended to do it), I’d immediately feel pressured to do it. This means these pieces are not fully the artists work. In all the shows I’ve watched of art competitions in general (a lot😂) the judges never tell personal feelings or guide them. Please. Less is more. I love your show. But almost every time one of the hosts opens their mouth I’m like shhhhh don’t guide them. Shhhh. Shhhhhhh shhhh. 😂 especially as family, I’m sure it’s easy to say what you think but it sometimes comes off as demeaning or at the very least it’s guiding them w YOUR personal feelings About the direction the artists’ going w the piece. That’s completely the opposite of what a contest should be. Please don’t hate me😂 I just saying..give them the challenge, then periodically check in with the time and then shhhhhh. I guarantee if you ask the artists, they’ve likely been uncomfortable or put in an odd predicament of some sort w feeling pressure to do something they’ve been told they should be doing. Which takes away from what they ALONE would do. Hope that makes sense.
