I can relate to you in many ways!… both of my parents were born in Syria, but my siblings and I were born in a Caribbean island called Trinidad 🇹🇹
I’m so grateful to my parents for speaking Arabic in our home, because we all learned the language!
Like you, when I tell people that I am Syrian, they are very surprised,….
I am so proud of my culture, .. the food, and the generosity of my ancestors 🙏🏻🥰
surprised or blind ???
Proud of her and her delivery of the news. I share with her parents the birth place when Aleppo was a beautiful city.
My Great Grandfather was born 1863 Mt Lebanon, Syria. He was rescued as a child by the church and taken to Scotland and eventually became a doctor. I’m so desperate to know about his life journey.
Mount Lebanon is in Lebanon not Syria. They are two separate countries.
I am Syrian American I love you thank you
I am so thankful for this video! 🙏 My background is Afghan, I was born in Russia and grew up in Germany. After graduation I have lived in 6 countries and now even have a job that requires me to move countries every 3-4 years. Can't wait to read your book!
У меня тоже предки из Афганистана, но я родился в Англии и вырос в Америке и Пакистане. Я учил русский как иностранный язык в университете.
@@Ded_Silu Thank you for your response. It is good to know but also sad at the same time... Because so many people from Afghanistan had to leave their country. I am happy that I became a multilingual polyglot and I love living all over the world. But sometimes I wonder how it would have been if other countries didn't attack Afghanistan for its resources. If it had been given time to develop without interference from outside, what would that country be now... 😢
Much Love and Respect for Hala ❤️👏
I know Hala of CNN since I was a kid she is a well reputed and highly respected woman
even when she calls an entire country like France racist ??? but didn't move to another arab country, wonder why.
i have seen Hala Gorani on CNN she is a very intelligent journalist 😀😀😀😀😀
What a refreshing and informative interview with a truly cosmopolitan journalist. Like many others who were born in one country and then lived in many others, she could never forget her roots. How well she has handled that situation is there for all to see.
As if I were hearing my own life story...so much I resonate with and similar in how I see my place in the world...And, I always admired her graceful character...
Fantastic interview which I much enjoyed. I use't to watch Hala when we had CNN on cable and must admit being a little infatuated by her. But remained always intrigued about her origins. This very pleasant interview explains so much and I feel captures her true to life.
Journalist Hala Gorani is well respected .I am very proud of her.
In Syria we have mixed races people with Caucasian features she looks Syrian to me God bless her
YOu are like me...We are just human! and yes we belong to this wonderful journey of humanity. We are the lucky ones, to have all this diversity sister,
She is so right as a swedish iraki living in Spain and I totally Agree with what Hala is explaining here, can’t wait to read her book
tou mean as an iraki right. go to an arab country, so many to choose from.
I just want to say, as a Norwegian, I don’t think the Italians, the Spanish, the Portuguese or the Greeks are any different from the Syrian or the Lebanese! I was so surprised to see so many fair skinned people with blue eyes, green eyes or hazel eyes in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine and I’ve seen so many dark skinned Italians from Milan, Padova, Modena, Parma, Bologna, Pisa, Lucca.. same goes for Madrid, Seville, Extremadura, Lisbon, Porto, Algarve… Traveling changed the way I see the world! I loved my study abroad year in Beirut at the American University of Beirut. What a gorgeous country is Lebanon, their culture and their exceptional gastronomy! Divine!
The same for North Africa, a lot of people look more European than some South Europeans
Hala, thank you for your honesty in expressing the pressures you feel when reporting such tragic events.
There are children in Gaza and Egypt that look like Ms. Gorani.
And especially in Syria.
She is one of the best reporters. Too bad we don't see her much anymore
I live in England but my dear friends from my childhood in Chile they are from Syria.
Thank you both for an awesome discussion.
Admire this journalist. Thank you Hala for yr work 💐
So interesting! I have always enjoyed the reporting of Hala gorani
Born in Lebanon…grew up in the UAE, Cyprus and Germany. Moved to the US at age 19 and got my education there. Married a Palestinian in the USA and moved back to Jordan - split from husband and moved to the UAE to raise my daughter…back in the US but on my way out again to Europe and so I relate so much and the question I despised most of my life was always…Where are you from?😂
Respected, From Pakistan, She is a Citizen of Planet having no Boundary.
Its not just the young that are getting unedited images and videos from the war zone, increasingly it is people like me in their 70s who are also getting such information and responding with horror
I like the the title of the book .. 📚👏🏼
Interesting. Thank you!
Its impacting people, educating people about the history of the peoples and region. Legacy media has failed public by not covering the conflict accurately and the world understands this.
Danke schön Hala G. for Freedom news.
Excellent conversation, Dean, Thank You BOTH. Please take Care✌🏼💙✊🏼💙🙏🏼
🌎🕊🤲🏼
I always thought she was Syrian. It always intrigued me. Many Syrians look like Hala Gorani. My grandfather was Syrian / Iraqi and very light skinned. She is very refined, honest, professional and an excellent journalist.
Gorani family comes from Kosovo there are hundrends of Gorani family that they flee 200 years back she has nothing to do with arabe though she was born and asimilated.. come to Kosovo to find your True origin.. I come from Gorani family and i am from Kosovo.
Very enjoyable conversation!.
Very interesting and insightful
Very eager to read your book journalist Hala Gorani 😊
You're Multinational that's great I believe!
I miss seeing Hala on CNN International. I watched her very regularly. Now, I try to catch up with Louis' social media accounts. ❤🐶
I know so many Syrians who look exactly like Hala!!!
Hala, I never missed your program when you were in CNN... I haven't seen you since your last show when you told us you were leaving. Where are you now?
Dean..you're the best
A spirit worth gold Hala ❤
We are proud of you Hala

PROUD TO BE AMERICAN... LIKE YOU DEAR HALA...DID NOT KNOW ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND ...BUT I AM EVEN MORE PROUD NOW TO BE AMERICAN... THAT IS WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS SAID TO MY SONS ...PROUD 'AMERICANS'...'BORN IN THE USA...'... (...DID NOT HAVE THEIR CHANCE...) ...'THIS IS 'YOUR COUNTRY'... OUR COUNTRY ...' DON'T EVER LET THE 'ENNEMIES' OF OUR AMERICA'... AND OUR 'DEMOCRACY' ...TELL YOU OTHERWISE...THEY WILL NEVER ...EVER...BE AS AMERICAN AS YOU....AND I ...ARE...MAY GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA.
Hala Gorani is an accomplished woman .....But i would have been encouraged if she took the bull by its horns when she was at CNN.. She continued to be the mouthpiece of American exceptionlism ..
The question that no dares to answer who's controlling the rafah crossing. 16:15
❤❤❤❤❤
Many Middle Eastern people including Syrian actually were white at ancient time. When King Reza the great, rescued 30 thousands Polish from Russian concentration camps, and brought them to Persia/Iran and were allowed to have their own schools, churches and live their lives the way they did in Poland and eventually many of them immigrated to Lebanon. A little history explanation about blue eyed and light skin of some Arab countries. We are all mixed race wise.
Plus that the crusaders who stayed in plastine Lebanon and Syria has affected in addgennatics of that region in terms of the blue eyes, red hair, and face freckles....by the way hala looks like the Syrian famous singer mayada henawi and many Syrian woman that I saw
Hee great grandma was ahbaziam not Arab nor Russian. Many Circassian ppl sent their kids to Palace willingly and non Muslims didn’t go to palace
She looks like the syrian singer Mayyada el-Hannawi
Why don’t you also mention Assange and not just Navaleny ??? You know US is also doing the same to journalists?
I thought she looked of Slavic origins. She has my father's Slavic eyes. His family were Germans who moved to Russia generations ago. They always said they were "full blooded German," but clearly they picked up some Slavic along the way!!
Hala, you are from Sesame Street.
Plus are tumèni Albanians in Siria
Hala que pensez vous de la couverture des évenements en Palestine par CNN?
Lebanon was part of Syria it was the French who divided it!!!
Oh was Israel not an artificially created country 1947,Hala? call a spade a spade, Shalom
I am Amir and am morbidly obese and bipolar I feel Gaza is da plaza
Basha and gorani are Albanian last name and Halla is tu
👍#🇵🇰
May I just be a cynical skeptic about the story Hala Gorani tells about changing her Syrian surname Basha (باسا)? So Hala is both an Arab and a Hebrew name and she justified that Gorani would be a surname that might sound Italian/European. Well, that is just nonsense. Let me tell you as an Italian, that Gorani isn't a surname that sounds remotely Italian, despite ending with “i”. It sounds, you know what? Israeli. What a coincidence that now that being Israeli isn't that fashionable anymore she added Basha to her surname in her Wikipedia page 😂
Gorani family Flee Flee from Kosovo to Turkey and Syria and Egypte during the wars in ballkans 200 years back i come from Gorani family origin from Kosovo there are hundrends and more family in Kosovo with Last name Gorani.
this guy really looks like that guy, who's having an affair with Skylar White, on Breaking Bad.
forgot the character's name.... i do remember him having a sad fate... 🤣🤣
مياده الحناوي 😂

The master of mankind peace be upon him the prophet Mohammed said I was sent to complete the morals. People who demonized Arabs and cast a blanket over all them are morally reprehensible.
President can't serve more than 2 terms consecutively - yes he could conceivably have a 3rd term 😕 sorry
hamas is ISIS - I still remember this Hala when she was reporting fake news about the war inside Syria, so no credits here
I agree with her about racism in France. If your name has an Arab or African origin, you can be sure that your resume will be thrown in a trashcan no matter your skills are...
You are 100% right. The F are the most disgusting racist people I ever met.
I cant agree ex : Rachida Dati etc... etc..
For good reason. They've got a bad reputation for a reason. But yea, keep crying about racism and discrimination. I'm sure that will fix the deep underlying issues about Northern African migrants not integrating well in western society. 🤡
Hala wants to rewrite Lebanons history it seems making Lebanon an artificial country created by the french while lebanon was self ruling since the begining of the 16 century while Syria has always been a set of wilayats, provinces, ruled by turkish pashas. But after all Hala isint your attitude a typical Syrian one meaning always denying Lebanon rich history and blaming colonialism for Syria s problems.
Come to Kosovo you will find your True orgine.... cause you are albanian.
Gorani very known family in kosovo...
🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
The flag of death, injury and guilt, Shame on everyone of the greedy soul- less Zionists. You have sacrificed any pity or sympathy the world had for the Shoah, you are part of that,
Good for toilet paper
@@lonestar3630 I don't expect anything else from an terrorist sympathizing antisemite.
I think she should be lucky to have lived in different countries and communities only enhances your outlook and views
There are migrants all around the world because through the ages people were exploring the earth… that’s what they did. 🙃
Hala is so wonderful
