When I was in middle school seeing these videos when they were new I had NO idea he was losing his hair. Just thought maybe he had a high forehead like me. He claimed his hair started falling out when he was 21 which would have been 1979ish. Like mine his hair fell out pretty slow. My baldness started when I was only 19 in 1988. I held on to it until 1999 when I started shaving my head. He's ten years and two months to the day older than me. He embraced his baldness but as of 2024 he got new hair and explained it. Loved his memoir too. Love Thomas Dolby.
@@fredwerza3478 I see what you mean, although I don't entirely agree. :) There are plenty of bands and artists that I know off who are making music today, and whom I absolutely adore. They make me feel alive and they help me experience & process all kinds of emotions. So I wouldn't say that there is _no_ good music today 🤗
It used to be a lot more common. Turns out when you can make up for poor performance with advanced studio production methods, talent and musicianship are no longer as important as marketability. Cream has always risen to the top, but now turds do, too.
Happy Birthday Thomas Dolby born on October 14, 1958. He is an English musician, and composer. Dolby came to prominence in the 1980's, releasing hit singles including She Blinded Me with Science and Hyperactive!. The stage name Thomas Dolby originated from a nickname "Dolby" that he picked up in the early 1970's, when he was "always messing around with keyboards and tapes". - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Dolby
Thomas, please put the mirror song from your toys soundtrack on your channel. That is great stuff many people remember that Robin Williams scene with Joan Cusack and that is just another one of your great contributions to film
@@dimarks444 oh i see . in one live version of this song i watched he is playing a synthesizer , so i thought he may be the inventor . why do you like this song ? i only like it because of the synthesizer in it . it's my favorite musical instrument , with the electric guitar a close second . i like the synthesizer / electric keyboards because of all the different sounds it can make . cool , or kind of eerie , neat , powerful , or even kind of heavenly sounds . thats the only reason i listen to music like this , pop or new wave . i like rock and metal better but i listen to music like this all the time too

Interesting. in concert he sings it 2 or 3 keys higher than the original version. Often artists will sing a song in a key or 2 lower than the original.
This is the most 80's thing to ever exist
Hahaha! Totally agree!
Real Equipment, Real Instruments, Real Talent.
His voice is as smooth as butter. He was really handsome when he was younger, lol!
I imagine that everyone at his concerts were just waiting patiently all night for him to perform this one song.

This really makes me wish I was alive during the 80s 😍 Amazing music!
It was the best time !!!
I feel bad for Millenials and Zoomers --- music today has no heart and soul --- back in the 80's it had both in spades
