      Does this work on bjj?

    • @counterkidnapping1737

      I really-really hate when my opponent grabs my wrist and lapel. I once learn judo break grip from Jimmy Pedro but my bjj opponent is one step ahead of me

    • @jamej8370

      @@counterkidnapping1737 when your wrist is grabbed pull you wrist out by pulling it against your opponent's thumb. Never met anyone who could resist that angle. For the lapel I don't have a general solution. Good luck to you.

      @@counterkidnapping1737 Yes. Turn the bone of your fore arm against his thumb and pull away it takes one second and if they resist they risk injury. I have done this against very strong men and it always works.

    All these grip breaks look super effective, can't wait to try them out on my sensei next time we get after it. Thank you Travis. Definitely saving this one.

    In the old days Judoka gripped at the beginning of a match. I and others thought that was better for Judo technique as in the Go Kyu No Waza. Now the contest style of Judo has made beautiful techniques as would work on a non-Judoka more rare.

      Omega maybe it's time I shoot a video on the best way to use that grip? Thoughts? Would that be more helpful?

      @@TravisStevensgrappling Yes sir, even a quick gripping tutorial would be fantastic. Often times we're thrown into randori without getting the attention to detail, it's easy to miss the little things like how to setup moves using our grips, which grips for which desired effect etc...

    how bout the high collar grip or the grip when someone allready threw his hand round your back. are there some movements to get out of there or gets you in a less disadvanteged position? also nice content and the way of explainin' it is nice✌

    Hi Travis! Do these breaks for lead hand apply for the rear hand?

  • @mistermin3972
    @mistermin3972 2 роки тому

    I tried the grip escape shown at around 0:55 but my opponent had a looser grip on my sleeve, making it harder to create that contact/torsion to break free and giving him more options to counter - any guidance on this? (great content btw thanks so much)

    • @mistermin3972
      @mistermin3972 2 роки тому

      (to clarify the grip he had was tight, but he grabbed less of my gi and therefore had more distance between his hand and my arm if that makes sense)

    Why is the camera showing all the bodies from head to toes?! Why not zooming on the hands or at least their upper bodies?!
