Great video Niki! I’ve heard a lot of mixed feelings on Jenn Lyons too. I like footnotes as well. Death Gate Cycle had great footnotes.

Thanks! Haha it’s only just now that I vaguely remember footnotes in Death Gate. It has been so long. What ive read of Lyons so far I really like, so it bodes well!

Honestly I don’t take advantage of those as often as I should. It’s a reminder to slow down and really bask in the book. :)

@@TheObsessiveBookseller Growing up with Anne McCaffrey - Dragonrider's almost always had them; so did Katherine Kerr's Deverry series... maybe it was an 80s thing, but I miss it.

Oh. I’m really curious about what you think of Ruin of Kings. Ive seen it before but I haven’t read it and if you don’t like it, I probably won’t bother to pick it up.

I am also guilty of buying most of the books in that Jenn Lyons series from Book Outlet and I haven't started reading it yet either lol! I wasn't able to get the first book on there though, so for a long while I had the whole series minus the first book (just sitting there taking up space since I couldn't start reading it lol) until I finally gave up and just bought it elsewhere lol.

Haha there’s something about the whole series being available for cheap that makes it irresistible! Fingers crossed it’s worth all that space.

I'm currently on the second book and I have mixed feelings, alright 😬
It has some really good stuff, which makes you want to continue reading, but really annoying things as well.
I'm curious to hear your take on the first book.

So far I can see a lot of things that could go the way of annoying for me (particularly with the MC’s personality) but it’s just okay enough that I’m going with it. It helps that the author hangs a lantern on it. We’ll see though!

Is it just me that thought this book was written by someone related to Eoin Colfer? I thought maybe he’d died and his son was now writing new books in his series.

You are not!! When it first came out we got into the bookstore this massive display for it. I remember thinking it was the first Colfer until I saw the author pick on the back.
