Wow there’s a lot of books here lol. At least you’re getting books that you’re really interested in. 😊

To Each This World is so good. The audiobook is great too. I started it on audio from my library and then had to buy the book because I liked it so much.
I also have another of her standalones, In the Company of Others, but haven't read it yet.
I read Smith's Enda series years ago and really liked it but haven't read any of her other books.
House of Open Wounds is a companion to City of Last Chances but still pretty connected. One of the main characters in City is also a main character of House. It looks like the third book will be more unconnected to the first two, though.

Always so many crossovers, I love it!
It's always good when you like a book so much that you want to buy it immediately. I wasn't sure whether or not to add it to my Deep Dive challenge, but I think I will.
Just finished City and didn't love it as much as I wanted to, but I'm still planning to read the next one.

I 5⭐️-ed Encyclopedia of Faeries. Perhaps you’ll be surprised it’s variance from preconception.

Haul! I have that same edition of Perdido Street Station. it's a thing of beauty. no space stations (that I recall, anyway) arguably it's more fantasy than sci fi, but more commonly labelled Wierd Fiction. Cos it's weird. I recognise the symptoms of incoming book bounty. I think i have 38 books on my to be hauled pile. Eek.

Weird fiction is helpful - no wonder I’m confused lol. The fact that BB is categorizing it under sci-fi didn’t help.

Goodness this haul is just full of beautiful editions!! Kinda bummed I have the regular hardcovers for the Redwinter books and not those nice Broken Binding ones. lol on hauling Engines of Chaos before trying book 1…I did the exact same thing and am waiting on bk 3 to start too 😅
    Epic haul!!!!

Thank you!! Yeah I keep seeing the regular editions of those Redwinter books on Pango for a LOT cheaper and think perhaps I didn’t need to splurge. But if I end up loving them, then I’ll be glad for it. It’s always such a gamble!!
I’m hoping for even a hint of a third book in that Engines series, and then I might start. Right now without even a placemarker on GR it seems risky.

The Redwinter series covers are great. I love a Book Haul, although it is a dangerous temptation.

I like them too - I hope I like the story just as much. I love watching hauls too but then yeah I always end up adding more books to my to-buy list. If I don’t want to spend money I need to stop going to the store!

Such a great haul! I keep hoping Pango will see fit to expand to Canada sooner than later.

I hope so! I think price of shipping and customs would be an obstacle, but I’d totally pay a bit more to have access to the Canada market too. Heck they could even just develop a Canada only division. I hope they do!

Seeing Perdido Street Station classified as sci-fi is so weird, it has more in common with Jade City than with any sci-fi I can come up with on the spot... It's alt universe low fantasy, the lowest of the low, and with tons of bizzare fantasy races

I am old enough to remember when things were just SFF; Sci Fi or Fantasy we didn't really define it too much.

In some ways it’s fun to have more variety with sub-genres, but almost everything feels better when it’s kept simple.

I wouldn’t classify Foul Days as low fantasy or urban fantasy. It’s not set in modern day, so urban fantasy doesn’t quite fit. And since low fantasy literally means “set in our world,” it doesn’t fit that either. It’s got a lot of monsters and folklore, plus a lot of magic, and a murder mystery to top it all off. I’d say this is fantasy crossed with murder mystery, so it doesn’t quite feel like it has both feet in one or the other. But that’s just how I read it.

Yeah that makes sense. I thought it actually took place in Europe, not just a fantasy with European influences. I’ve just started it and I do like how it seems to touch a few different categories!
