Airpark Adventure: Early Morning Breakfast Flight to Orcas Island

- I wanted to take advantage of a beautiful morning so I departed the Airpark early and made a short solo flight to the Eastsound Airport (KORS), on Orcas Island in the San Juans. I tried to get my wife, friends and neighbors to go with me on short notice but they all turned me down because they were busy. Winds aloft were actually pretty high (almost 30 knots in some places) but it was nice and calm at ground level. From my new airpark home it only took about 12 minutes to get there.

Nice video! I make that run to Orcas frequently too. Did you have to re run the W&B for the return trip? That looked like a lot of breakfast😮
Well no since it was just me and partial fuel but I did skip lunch!
That trip by car might have taken up to 3 hrs each way depending on ferry schedule.
That sounds about right. 1-1/4 hours each way to Anacortes Ferry terminal plus wait time and about an hour ferry ride each way. That's if the ferry doesn't break down and if they have enough crew to sail. I used about 4 gallons of AVGAS which is cheaper than the ferry toll.
What’s the story on the bikes? Looks like the door had a code?
Any signs on where to find them or just have to know/ask?
Call the airport manager listed in the AFD or on ForeFlight. Very friendly
