    VIDEO DESCRIPTION
    I test rode the CFMOTO 450SS, Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the Yamaha R3 back to back to find out how this new Chinese small displacement motorcycle compares with the contemporary Japanese sport bikes that have been ruling the market the world over.
    The video will help potential buyers compare and make up their mind about the value proposition the CFMOTO 450SS brings and how it stacks up on price, looks, equipment, ride quality and cost of ownership when compared with the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the Yamaha YZF R3.
    I got this opportunity earlier this march to ride them back to back at Daytona Bike Week that is held every year in Daytona, Florida, USA.

    CFMoto is making a name here in the Philippines; NK400 and 300/450 ss/sr just like the KTM's, people buy these bikes 'cuz they're cheap and they're testing it's reliability, it just takes time for the people to trust this new motorcycle brand, especially they came from China, people really don't look Chinese products as reliable as the Japanese one.

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  11 місяців тому +8

      True. At the moment, it seems that CFMoto may be a company that's trying their best to change the negative perception about Chinese motorcycles. They have been suppliers for other manufacturers for a while. It may take a while, but if they can keep up good work and keep improving, they might just get there like the Japanese did back in the 70s

      Is there a difference between cf moto ss and sr

    • @RiderXp
      @RiderXp  4 місяці тому

      As far as I’m aware, it’s the same motorcycle being branded as SS in North America and SR in Europe and elsewhere. There is also an SR-S in some South East Asian countries which does have some differences, a single sided swing-arm being one of the most notable ones.

      Dude was comparing a CF moto 450 versus two 300cc bikes. The ninja 400 would roll over this CF moto 450 like it was a scooter. The CF 300 is slower then a 2008-2012 ninja 250r , it's Chinese so until they really get their crap together they'll always take a back seat to Japanese bikes

      @waynegove73 I've seen other tests with the Ninja 400 vs. CF 450, and they are about equal in speed. Personally, I'd take the Kawasaki just because I know I can get replacement parts, and the resale value will stay higher than some off-brand bike with no real support.

    The SCT tires are Cheng Shin, a known brand. Can't say they're known for being much more than cheap but usable. Aftermarket parts are more available overseas, so shopping around you'll possibly find what you're looking for. Right now for the U.S. Cf moto is just starting their motorcycle line, but they've had their off road quads here for years, the shop I'm with has sold them for years and they've overall been ok so long as they're not beaten hard. The engines overall have been reliable. Being as KTM is a major shareholder in Cf, and they build a number of KTM bikes, I'd say they will prove themselves pretty well given time. I'm old enough to remember as a little kid "Made in Japan" meant of suspect quality and cheap.

    I buy a lot of smashed bikes from the auctions, for me the Ninja 400 would be dead equal to the R3, I've had 4 Ninja 400 and 2 R3.
    The way the Ninja fairing all fits is a lot more simple and easy to work on. The R3, both series 1 and the current series 2 can be harder to work on.
    Quality is the same.
    Staying with the Kawasaki is a safer bet, parts are basically the same from 2018 to current model, the aftermarket makes a lot of parts too
    Buy a CF Moto and you're on your own unless this bike really takes off

    to be honest, I own a motorcycle from a brand called GPX from Thailand, model Demon GR200r and my friend own a 450sr. In term of reliability, both of them withstand the most of the road here in Malaysia and for the spare part mine actually can use parts from various brand such as Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki while the 450sr can also use KTM parts ( information from the friend). I dont know if this helps other user from various country that use 450sr but try mix and match like we do in Asia. (Our gen Z are crazy about upgrading an underbone bike)

    Do you know that the R3 ia the pnly in line twin in todays market. Parallel twin and inline twin are different. Inline twin resembles the inline 4. Means its more expensive to manufacture than parallel . And has better handling and sound. The sound quality of R3 when you used full exhaust is loud. Thats because of the orientation of the crankshaft. Means if one piston goes up, the other one goes down. Thays why the R3 has higher rev than other bikes in its class. Its liek a baby 600 supersports coz its piston is big with short stroke generating good power at higher revs.

Like i said in the video even if they are reliable, it will take a while for positive reviews from owners over several years for the general public to start believing in their reliability. When Japanese bikes were introduced in the US, believe it or not, they we’re considered unreliable. And today they are considered so reliable that a 2-3 yr used japane bike or car sells for the same price as brand new in the US. So it’s only a matter of time. I like the sr450, but the biggest buzz killer is the lack of aftermarket parts in the US. Cfmoto needs to realize this fact, if they want to establish themselves state side. Maybe create their own line of exhaust systems, quick shifter, suspension upgrades, etc. Their ATV ‘s have plenty by comparison.

    2 reasons people buy these bikes.
    1. Beginners
    These buyers usually don't buy brand new. Even if they buy brand new, they don't keep these bikes for long. Many don't ride pass couple of years. Rest moves on to bigger bikes within couple of years. Since japanese bikes are well known to be bulletproof, these people with japanese bikes will get good portion of their money back when they sell their bikes. Will cfmoto owners be able to get similar money back down the line?
    2. Dedicated track bike
    These guys don't ride these bikes as is from the factory. Does cfmoto bike have enough aftermarket parts to turn it into dedicated track bike?
    Conclusion: unless cfmoto sell their bike at half the price of Japanese bikes, these Chinese bikes are a waste of money.
