-Somebody: "Wonder what's inside that guy's head while he's doing Tai Chi"
-Tai Chi guy's head: MASTER OF PUPPETS ARE PULLING YOUR STRINGS!!!
And nothing else matters
They asked him to take his shirt off but he gets $0.05 from Metallica for every view.
Lol
Sad but truee!
That the first thing I noticed about him
That Tia chi guy's smug look is lethal
For real, man. It made me mad and I have no dog in the fight. I feel that it could be an actual asset if he knew how to fight.
Tai chi guy is acting like a too good for you anime bad guy
ITS NOTHING PERSONAL KIDDO
And BRUH it actually kinda worked out for him ( atleast as far as tai chi masters against boxers goes)
"Too-good-for-you Anime Bad Guy" LOOOOOOL!!!
@@PaschanTOPs we need more Anime bad guys
He’s like “Not bad. You were able to hold your own against 5% of my power” lol
I like the fact that this is the first video I see where the Tai Chi guy actually looks like he has taken a punch before. He keep his cool and kept fighting! Kinda wild because vids like these usually end with the tai chi guy out in seconds
the boxer looked terrible tbh. He can't be boxing for long.
So many traditional MA dudes start clowning to pretend like they're not trying - which they think camouflages their inability.
This dude got hit a few times pretty hard. His head even bounced off the wall. He'll definitely be feeling it a few hours later.
Or its for the post loss interview. "Well I wasn't even trying."
He turned it on in the last round though. Even knocked the boxer down. Even many good martial artist will be kicking the hell out of their opponents., then run out of gas and get knocked out.

+20 to neck strength because of mosh pitting and head banging
@@RobWatt lmao
Boxer isn’t setting anything up and gets too emotional, also smothers his own punches instead of getting his spacing necessary
Props to the Tai Chi guy for actually sticking to Tai Chi throughout the fight. Most "masters" start swinging wildly after getting hit just once, and their students are often just kickboxers who don't actually use Tai Chi in fights.
That's not Taichi tho. The guy knows how to fight but since both sides agreed to use kickboxing rule to make it fair for the boxing guy, they're both doing kickboxing
@@Jenjak His "trash" worked better than the other guy's boxing.
Yeah he used more traditional MMA than actual Tai Chi, lol.
@@Emanouche Have you done Tai Chi?
Tai Chi guy definitely trains a 'broadened curriculum' 😏
Round kicks and side kicks are a good indicator.
Also clearly used to dodging punches and covering up.
I came here expecting the Taichi guy to get demolished but after he got serious he actually did really well. Props to both fighters
I came here expecting to see my style in action (tai chi). I felt like he was going to win before even watching the video. The first couple of rounds I felt like he was playing with the boxer, I even kept saying "stop playing with him!".
Then I I felt like the reason he was fighting like that in the first place was because he didn't really know what he was doing even though he was pulling off some of my moves, badly, but he managed.
and Then he got 'serious'
I still feel like he could've done better.
I don't wanna say he's a 'one hit pony' but compared to me he is.
TaiChi is mild based martial art. What that mean is that they teaches you the basic of everything, but only the basic. So, Tai Chi in the ring is all using basic techniques that is going to be pretty hard. If you are fighting free style and just adding those technique to your free style fight you be fine. But if you are fighting in accordance to a style, that is hard. I used to do Taekwondo. While doing it I also learn some mild based martial art. I don't think I will do too well using Mild based against a professional fighter.
@@anteconfig5391 the tai chi guy was a lot more experienced, the boxer wasnt very good. even so, tai chi is most likely the worst fighting style.
tai chi guy is useless
The taiji guy is doing well despite having his hands wrapped. Literally half the techniques in taiji cannot be done with hand coverings. There is a heavy reliance on reading your opponent through the palms and fingers. A lot of the techniques require your wrists to be free as well.
When I saw that smug face and the stance I thought he was going down in the first 15 seconds. Pleasantly surprised.
lmao
Tai Chi guy did a good job in conserving energy early on and capitalizing on the fact that the boxer was more tired later. That was the moment he oppened up with more aggresive approach. I have to say - given how badly Tai Chi guys are destroyed usually this was actualy very good performance.
The tai chi guy was pretty good with his head movement. The boxer sensed that which is why he was playing patient and not falling into the trap of swinging away at his head.
Yeah
Really surprised by the Tai Chi guy. He really seemed to come alive at the last round. Felt like he knows more than just Tai Chi.

was not a cool match. It was bad
The Taiji guy wasn't cocky. He's just very chilled out, and not worried about the outcome of the fight.
I don't know the background of either fighter, but it's obvious that the boxer was very tensed up and fidgety, which severely limited his ability to pose a threat to the Taiji guy.
I wouldn't say chilled out,.. look at his expression, he's being very smug.. boxer seems very inexperienced too..
If there was no grappling allowed that was a big disadvantage to the tai-chi guy ax many tai-chi moves translate into grappling tecniques. It was a mistake of the tai-chi guy to accept a fight under those rules imho.
Cool video though :)
7:31 :wow Vietnamese people sure look young

Hello, I'm Taichi guy in this video and I'm 29 not 50 :))
@@tungbui3709 yeah I know, just joking :)
Nice fight, you were great and really showed the potential of Tai Chi :)
@@DavorBa Since tai chi doesn't include sparring I didn't see any tai chi in this video. But tai chi guys has some skill and understanding and he was using more boxing than the boxer.
@@tungbui3709 bro do u do xingyi too?
The Tai chi guy did very well. I think he at least has the ability to see through the punches and avoid them. If considered a real-life situation, your opponent will not be a pro boxer or a pro MMA guy; he will be a normal dude, and these skills are enough to take a normal dude out.
I liked the Tai Chi guy. He wasn't fazed by anything and remained controlled.
To me it was clear that tai chi fella was the better fighter. It sucks that he didn't take the fight seriously though, if he fought the three rounds like in the third, actually having a guard and using his kicks it would have been very one sided. Also I would have expected him to work better in the pocket, sticking to his oponent, that's what tai chi is alla bout, but hey great to see someone using the art actually having a clue about fighting.
He’s certainly better at blocking punches with his face.
What fight did u watch bro? Tai chi guy was hit right on the button multiple times. If it wasn’t for the big gloves and what was supposed to be a sparring match, he would hv been KOed by round 2. The only reason he won round 3 was because the boxer gassed. So no, the tai chi guy wasnt clearly the better fighter. Also: the “boxer” looks like nothing more than a very good boxing student, not a pro/amateur boxer. In any case, it was a good fight and credit to the tai chi guy for keeping his cool
@@austinsavage He Looks Like He Just Had a month of boxing Training
@@austinsavage I don't know bro, the first two rounds the tai chi dude wasn't doing much and eating punches for underestimating his oponent and even still, he survived both rounds without being knocked out nor eating every single punch the boxer threw. He actually had decent head movement. He wasn't any master nor was a perfect round but in the third when he actually started to fight back he won that one. Landed many kicks, a knee, punches and even grappled a bit, while slipping just as many punches as the rounds before. He obviously wasn't taking the fight seriously until then.
Unless the boxer was holding himself back, I don't see another reason as to why he didn't end the fight at any point in the first or second round.
@@MrLimbei123 What did you think of that side kick at 7:25? Pretty good huh? Boxer had no answer.
If there is something I do appreciate about the tai chi guy...he does make moves count and doesn't waste too many movements bouncing up and down..
The Thai chi has some skills actually. Just has an ego/fundamental issue
No, that boxer was just lousy.

Wut?
Yes the metallica shirt adds power
Props for the "boxer" for making the Tai Chi guy look decent.
The TaiJi man stayed composed and control throughout the bout while the boxer got out of breath and was loosing control of his strikes. Great match learned a lot form it
That was actually really entertaining. I love the Silva-Cruz-like style of the tai-chi guy. He definitely has some fighting experience while the boxer guy fails at effective punching and distance (at least it's how I saw it).
Also don't underestimate a lowered guard!! It's terrifying to fight a skilled dodger with a lowered guard. The mental game is real haha, you never know if he'll be there.
Plus when you get a punch in and they guy laughs it off. Bruh.
Mad Respect for this guy
Tai Chi guy seems like he actually spars, which is cool, but based on his cocky hands hanging down, he also still believes in the magical superiority of tai chi, and if the boxer had come in with strong aggressive punches this would have lasted as long as any other tma vs combat sport fight
Many Tai chi techniques will be useless if you use gloves, because it uses open hands
Tai chi is a deflecting arts, it's not for striking
It's not magical at all
@@onimekyo7633 Taiji is not for striking? You're kidding, right?
@@RobinTurner depends on how you use it

My teacher says that Tai chi was created during war to deflect attack.
But I don't know why now people associate it with health exercise for old guys
@@onimekyo7633 Oh I see what you mean now. Deflect first, then strike, takedown or whatever.
@@RobinTurner yeah, that's right

Tai Chi guy controlled all of the rounds. It's not the art, it's the experience.
No, he got clean hits
Either boxer didn't have good power or the Taichi guy hard a solid chin.
Yeah I am a little confused on which of the The Five Steps standing there with your hands down looking cocky is.

@@FightCommentary did you get my message?
I'm imagining the scenario that led to this went something like: Tai Chi Guy is teaching an outdoor class. Young Guy, out of nowhere starts mocking Tai Chi Guy and Tai Chi in general, and challenges the Tai Chi Guy and his students to fight.
Tai Chi Guy responds something like: *sigh* "If I agree to fight you, will you go away and let me teach class?".
Young Guy: "Hehe, yeah, old man, let's do this!" and put his dukes up.
Tai Chi Guy: "No no no. You challenged me! That means I get to pick the time and place. We're going on 'Viet Street Beefs'!"
Young Guy pales.
Tai Chi Guy, points at Young Guy's buddies: "You're not going to back down in front of them, are you?"
Young Guy: "No, man! Any day, any time!"
Tai Chi Guy pointing at Young Guy's friends: "Which one of you is going to be his Second? If he doesn't show, I get to fight you instead. You? Okay, now exchange phone numbers with my assistant here."
Tai Chi Guy to Young Guy: "Okay, then. We'll fight as soon as the arrangements are made. Have a nice day!"
I do not much about the fighters. But my advice to the boxer would to focus on the fundamentals: guard up, chin down, throw jabs to gauge the distance and throw straights with the power hand. And depending on the boxer's style of fighting or ability, I would tell him to "march down" his Tai Chi opponent and use his footwork to close the distance and work in his hooks and uppercuts. Especially when the his opponent's hands were down. Do not be confused and simply put pressure on him.
But props to the Tai Chi opponent for staying cool under pressure and picking his shots. As well as his variety of striking techniques including the knees, kicks, and takedown attempt. His training in other martial arts truly shows.
The best tai-chi fighter I've seen yet.
How do you get to use the fight videos if they are not made by the channel.
Taichi guy did very well
I like him bro, I hope he improved his stance and cover his face more, after more sparrings we will be even better
Taichi guy utilising the true boxer stance TM
I agree, I think both fighters need to improve alot of things
This is a friggin real tai chi fighter lol he legit goes friggin ham on the 3rd round!!
Moral of the story: most important punch is the jab. Grapplers should prioritise it to mask takedown attempts. Strikers should prioritise it for the openings it creates.
Just so many good things about the jab. I believe its the failure of society that the humble jab is sometimes looked down upon
Edit: and taichi guy used his "lazy" jab to signal to boxer that he better not stand in this distance. The mind games lmao
Yeah, that boxer used zero jab. How the heck did that happen? And so true about grapplers. Set up takedowns!
Respect to the tai chi guy. I think this proves one of my thoughts on when people talk about boxers being far more effective than traditional martial artists. I think it’s true when you’re comparing a decent boxer with a tai chi chaun practitioner but when you compare a boxing hobbyist with a tai chi chaun practitioner the old arguments about the holes in boxing (unable to deal with kicks, not being able to handle takedowns, etc) make sense
In my experience Tai chi/wing chun people always have their hands down cockily, but as soon as you apply pressure they panic.
Do you think he panicked? Looked like he covered up fairly well to me. He certainly wasn’t used to being hit with force but I think panic is a bit of a stretch
@@indefenceofthetraditionalma I would have expected some kind of better clinch strategy from the Tai Chi guy, especially against a boxer, so panicked is what I was wondering as well.
@@BFGalbraith74 I’d say someone who was panicked would clinch more. From what I saw, they were mostly breaking it up whenever they clinched

It's called Pi in Xing Yi. Can be a hit or a set up for a takedown as in Baji. In Tong Bei, your stance may not need to be low to do that hammer/splitting fist. Tai Chi guy has obviously been around and the other guy is an afficionado who wanted to move like a boxer. Young guy basically sparred with an old cat with some gutter ways.
That match was funny... LOL...
Btw, I like it that ya got a tan. haha
Yeah, tan Jerry is awesome.
The hands at a diagonal stance is almost blocking/counter punch/counter throw stance in tai chi.
I forget the name but it's called something like "wave like clouds"
OMG, this tai chi guy is smile and confident through out the fight. It's like he is just playing a game. The only thing I want to see more is Tai chi guy should use more push and pull to control distance cause that is the Tai chi technique you can use the most in boxing game
Tai chi guy is not just trained with tai chi alone i think..he has knowledge with other martial arts
The best fight from a Tai Chi guy i have ever seen. I give the fight to the Tai Chi guy on points, he had some good combinations. If you train Kung Fu properly and do the Sanda thing, yes Kung Fu can and will work!!!
I like your original sign-off better, it was unique.
first tai chi practitioner on youtube that could handle a proper fight!!
You haven't seen much then. Look up Tiger Chen
Can you effectively do "Tai chi" with boxing gloves on since a lot of the hand techniques are open hand?
The hammer fist and chops are awesome. The tai chi guy had great iq but it look like was trying to avoid using “boxing”.
I'm a kung fu guy myself. Geez, if I were the boxer, I'd be timing a sweep at those stupid slow jabs with my lead hand and then coming in with an overhanded right. I do that all the time when I see one of my sparring partners start spitting out random jabs like that.
What Kung fu do you do
I've done a fair amount of tai chi myself, I would have landed a lot of front kicks early on. The boxer had poor distance control and often got himself caught in the clinch. When someone starts wailing hooks, uppercuts, and overhands best TaiJiQuan technique is the front heel kick down the open centre. Worked great in a sanshou fight I had against a choy li fut fighter.
Against that choy li fut guy, he often left his left ribs open after punching so I altered the taijiquan front kick into a roundhouse kick. Stepping to my left and catching his right haymaker punch thing (they love those in choy li fut) then fanned my hands out to clinch my right hand to his neck and deliver a right round house kick to the left ribs. This way I was stepping across to throw the kick with all my mass while simultaneously blocking the strike.
Good tai chi practitioners have to be intelligent, its evidently not about being tough and externally powerful. I only recommend it if you find a good teacher and have prior experience in other styles.
My boy adjusted his spinal column with that right hook at 6:17
That kind of punches look scary
After finishing the video I actually think Tai chi was taking this easy and treating it like a normal sparring match essentially
He was just keeping up appearances. He looks exactly the way somebody who wants to look cool but doesn't actually have experience in fighting does.
@@bobbadickson3869 nah, that change at the end of it is indicative of some not taking it seriously
I see the TC fighter letting the boxer work 2 rounds then stepping it up for 3rd. Great stuff.
Tai chi guy looks like he was reading him the first 2 rounds, but the last he wants to surprise him and finish it

Tai Chi guy did way better than I expected
Really interesting fight. I had to watch it twice and even watched that one deflection at the beginning in slow-mo to see what exactly happened. I'm no expert in Tai Chi but that sort of two handed windmilling parry sure reminds me of silk-weaving moves. As impressive as it is to watch it doesn't seem very practical because all he did was deflect a cross. If it could be adapted to work with just one hand, leaving the other open to counter attack that might be more effective.
It seemed to me that the Tai Chi fighter did better in the second round because he stopped being cocky and put his guard up more, and also reverted to more generic striking techniques, including throwing more kicks.
It's also clear that the boxer isn't very good. He keeps leading with telegraphed hooks and doesn't know how to kick or check kicks.
Like the vibe love yo videos keep em coming.....good fight from both fighters
I love the your fight breakdown videos my brother , and I can tell your very educated with martial arts 🥋 becuase you have a keen eye ,great stuff keep up the good work with these videos !! 👍😇🙏
The rules and general situation are totally skewed in favor of the boxer...
Had this taken place in a public park, under the sunrise, on blankets with bubble tea, I think the Tai Chi guy would have demolished him
At least he can take and throw some decent punches.
The boxer may either be a beginner or just not high level, but I can also tell he isn’t trying too hard.
props to Vietnamese Tai Chi fighter: METALLICA!!!! you're awesome man!
In Cheng Tin Hung lineage we call the diagonal striking technique Throw the Fist. I’ve found it very difficult to defend against when sparring, seeing early is key.
That diagonal strike does leave the guy throwing the strike very open though.
@@chbjj if you can react quick enough. It’s all about timing for the person defending and attacking. I think where TCM often falls down is not drilling in sparring situations. Students get shown the end technique but not how to get there in a competitive action. I digress!
As soon as I saw the tea shirt I knew who was going to win.
Would like to see with a boxer who has same reach, basically since boxer is shorter he is trying to swing a hook as he rushes forward, if he could keep doing jab-cross the tai chi guy wouldn't be able to stand cool like that, i mean tahi chi guy is still getting punched but he can crouch and hug which keeps the damage to minimum and mostly to the body
Edit: the boxer doesnt keep "eating" the jabs, the jabs doesnt pass his guard. But what he should do is instead of just blocking he should slip and do a counter punch since tai chi guys hands are down he would actually "eat" every counter pucnh and the reach difference would be solved
A punch that has a diagonal arc. I think hes talking about a "Overhand"
Would have liked to have seen more kicks out of the Tai Chi Chuan (TCC) guy. Every form has front-loaded ball kicks (or "teep"), great for an opponent who is staying too far out, like the boxer is. Some abdomen shots would've been good; TCC has a bunch of those. No grappling makes TTC much less effective, but I would've like to have seen less countering and more entering/exiting footwork. TCC practitioner should be getting their opponent into the wall, and letting out short range punches. Having a strat for an environ like this must be challenging, props to them both for putting it all in there.
I am James F JR... I Love All Martial / Pugilistic Arts. Tai Chi does have Combat applications I do not understand why this guy isn't on the Offensive. So Far I like the Boxer. I think he is not Throwing Jabs because he is finished feeling the Gut out. Also he might be trying to reserve energy. Now, the Tai Chi guy is on the Attack. It is Getting more interesting now.
M fan of his confidence
The boxer missed a trick there. I think if he threw the good old jab cross hook that would of been a much shorter fight. It's interesting to see how effective legs kicks are on people who don't train them!
The boxer is not throwing jabs because most local boxing clubs in Vietnam are not very good on teaching technique and strategy. The better ones that have good coaching are usually much more exclusive than what's accessible to the general populace.
The two handed thing is similar to what they do in Choy Li Fut (Kwa Sow combo): ua-cam.com/video/6m8K1x7ZfGU/v-deo.html
Bruh the tai chi dudes just taunting and the boxer is moving around so much hes getting tired 😂😂
I'm not much of boxer. I've token a few classes, but even I know that a jab is essential when it comes to boxing. I do have some training in Muay Thai though.
That's the first Thai-Chi fighter I've seen getting away with not protecting his face lol
Which demonstrates his taiji isn't even that good. Taiji does have guards. He's not even embodying the torso C shape that zhang zhuan develops. I'd love to see a good taiji or yiquan practitioner who pressure tests his art in this channel.
That guy is in his fifties?? Man he looks young!
Shoutout to the taichi dude battle testing his supreme fist (the meaning of taichi)
I love those overhand hammerfists. I can't say WHY I wanted Tai Chi guy to win. Boxer was shaped like a panda... where do you punch a guy shaped like that? You jab him in his nose, and kick his legs.

@@dung6094 thanks for the replies!
Fun fact : the Taichi guy didn't use any Taichi moves throughout the entire match. Both sides agreed to use kickboxing rule to make it fair for the boxing guy (since Taichi is a grappling art), that's why the ref break them up the moment they clinch in, no ground fighting, no takedown, no ground n pound. The whole drama ended up a flop in my opinion. The vietnamese was expecting a Xu Xiaodong 1 hit KO situation but all we have is a half bake kickboxing match
Metallica Shirt gave him +10 to all his stats
I'm kind of surprised the Tai Chi guy even when he has his hands down seems to have pretty good timing on his dodges, I know that the martial art pretty much relies on counterplay but it is harder to move your body than it is to move a fist
something that i noticed in the fight... boxer trow strong punches but he gassed faster than tai chi... not sure if tai chi either have strong chin or he makes this head turn the moment he gets hit by a punch cuz he looks fresh...
boxer really dont trow straight punches and he also trow less hi-low combination like jab to the head, straight to the body then hook to the head...
Taiji guy was very relaxed, he didnt let the boxer stress him which is good. I am not sure what lineage of taijiquan he practices because taijiquan in Vietnam seems to have some interesting indigenous variations that blended with local boxing, some totally wack culty stuff as well as original family styles. He obviously didnt feel threatened by the boxer meaning he had faith in his abilities so he must have fight experience. Although there was no demonstration of sticking abilities or fajin and his just stuck with basic loose boxing he at least used yielding. A nice change from fake Chinese "masters".

Taiji guy has done some regular kicking martial art as well. Those roundhouses and sidekicks are not taiji native. I don’t mind this, in fact taiji practitioners would benefit a lot from regularly going up against people who kick and punch well. Being one myself I can tell you most don’t. However, it would have been fun if taiji guy had actually used some taiji in the fight. He seemed to be thinking of it as a striking art with a different style of strikes. Like that bastard between overhand and hammerfist. But it is actually more of standing wrestling with a lot of pulls, shoves, sweeps and messing up each others balance. With some strikes interwoven in the pushing and pulling. But that’s not something this guy tried to do.
The tai chi guys half smirk would make you wanna hit him much more.
If I were boxer, I'd rush in half way and left right until tai chi was unconscious. If I was tai chi, I'd be circling the boxer and hooking and kicking.
Tai chi guy is really know how to not waste energy and conserve stamina well
Tai chi MASTA!! was pretty legit some of those kicks he threw looked pretty beefy.
OMG!
Why are his hands DOWN?!
That is a dangerous stance to take with a boxer!
Looks like his Tai chi needs more development!
