- I felt like the Herobrine mods around the internet didn't do a great job of capturing the terrifying presence of Herobrine, so I made one myself!

Hey bois, since the video's been getting some attention recently, and it's also been getting some criticism, let me explain some stuff :D
First of all, my videos do have a general script (more of an idea of what to talk about), but I do not fake reactions, I'd rather have no reaction at all.
For everybody saying it's impossible for me to get scared by my own mod:
1. I'm a very jumpy dude, I get scared extremely easily by horror games
2. The scenes you're seeing in the video are the last ones of series of maybe 5-10 takes, where I click the bed/kill a mob, and absolutely nothing happens. It's obvious that after the 10th time that I try it, I'm not necessarily expecting the jumpscare to happen anytime soon. Not to mention that what you see in the video is literally the first time I actually see the jumpscares function in-game after having coded them.
3. I had the volume in my headphones maxed out so the horror sounds would actually scare the hell out of me and I could get the most genuine reaction possible. I nearly gave myself a heart attack for this damn video >_>
4. My accent here was still pretty thick, and my vocabulary relatively limited, so in a moment of panic I understand that it might not sound particularly believable, but I'm trying my best to improve it!
I've also been getting a LOT of people giving out some great ideas for a possible update/touch up of the mod! If I ever make an update video for a mod of mine, you can be sure it'll be this one!
That's all, I really put a ton of effort into trying to make the video as good as possible, so I just hope everybody can enjoy it with this being clarified!

The mod is fine but he shouldn't wander around like a normal mob, he should always look in the same direction, the mod needs more paranoia added to it, less jumpscares and more creepiness.
Its already a really good job, if it had this feature and a feature like the one of Endermans attacking when looked in the eyes it would be perfect

Agree, best would be if Herobrine doesn’t really even interact with you but just watches, creates dirt pyramids, pillars, opens/closes doors, breaks a torch, maybe even watch you as you fall asleep but disappears as you get out
Honestly. you should have made it so that on rare occasions his eyes should be barely visible when the person tries to sleep along with a message saying "You can't rest yet, you're being watched."

One of my old old worlds still has him
Yeah I remember hearing that he used to be a mob way way back when. When you killed him you got a diamond. But then he was removed because he was too OP. He was way too easy to kill for the loot he dropped. But then he bacame a creepypasta and as a running gag, the devs would add "-Removed Herobrine" at the end of the changelogs of every update. And I think they added a loading screen tip for the 360 edition that said something along the lines of "We think 4J studios removed Herobrine" or something like that. Needless to say, an old removed feature of Minecraft became such a huge urban legend that the developers took intrest.

Herobrine is by the tree behind the dirt pyramid at 2:09. Really just goes to show how good this mod is, it brings forth what Herobrine was truly meant to be. Not a boss, but a mystery.
Suggestions:
- If you can, make it so that hostile mobs spawn way more than normal and are more powerful in the Cursed Forest
- Add fog to places where Herobrine is around to help hide his figure for jumpscares.
- Add fog to the Cursed Forest
- Herobrine can jumpscare you in your nightmares
- Put Herobrine at the corner of the screen when attempting to sleep so that the player doesn't fully see them.
- Add blood to Cursed Forest and Herobrine related places as well as places where Herobrine was

Yeah, and not having a ton of him in a forest. Herobrine's creepiness factor comes largely from the idea that he isn't just another mob but an individual, a specific being who wants to target you. So seeing dozens of him at once kinda breaks the immersion for me ya know?

Herobrine is still in the game today in fact, in the form of the remaining code of the long gone Human mob. The Herobrine code is in fact the base class which every single mob, including the player, uses as the base code for mob logic

It would be much cooler if the chances of every Herobrine event were very, very very small, because at one point youll get accustomed to it and this really takes away the very thrilling and mysterious aspect of the Herobrine. Because at some point, if its very rare to stumble upon Herobrine events, youll eventually forget him and then BOOM hell appear one time and scare you!
This perfectly sums up the only problem with this.
I agree with this 100%. I really hope he changes the herobrine encounters and world gen to be minuscule. Also have the “Herobrine joined” only be at the beginning of making a world

@@atomlight5568 Yeah, GOD it would be so cool to watch him go crazy everytime he plays! He will travel far in order to find the stronghold, but then he sees a very dead forest and goes there to take a look. When he enters, he can see how the environment changes and the sound too and he will be more curious and start to wander off his initial plan for the journey. Then he sees Herobrine (but the upgraded version) and that is where it all starts...

when herobrine showed up at the bed the first time i literally jumped i was so scared. also i am so glad i looked up herobrine before starting the video (i have heard of him and how freaky he is but just to get more details) because it immediately made so much sense also i love your work toiu keep it up

This mod is literally amazing. You should add more to it like to make it more realistic
-sand pyramids
-Random letters of "H" "E" "R" "O" "B" "I" "N" made out of glowstone
- 2x2 tunnels
-4x4 tunnels
-2x2/4x4 tunnels with redstone torches
-Random signs with death threats, or creepy messages around the place
-missing chunks
-Instead of herobrine spinning around acting like a normal mob, he should just stand there staring at you, then vanish. Make him seem like an actual evil spirit, staring you dead in the eyes looking for murder. Something to be horrified of. Not just some mob that spins around then blinds you and leaves.
-Personally for me I dont like how many herobrines there were, especially in the cursed forest biome. I dont like how overtime there were just so many herobrines that it made it not scary. You nailed the beginning, it should be something that stalks you and destroys your mental mind, but personally for me seeing like 500 of them just standing there in the cursed forest and spinning around ruins those rare scary encounters to have. Just seeing an encounter every 5 minutes doesnt make him scary, especially at night with the forest
-MAKE HIM SPAWN AT DAY TIME!!!!! All the original pictures of him were taking during the day, so why does he only spawn at night. He should be in the vast distance stalking you during the day time, and when you make eye contact, notice him, move towards him he vanishes.
-The cursed forest looks amazing, but for me I liked it more realistic. I like it more as a natural biome with no leaves. For me I think its much more scarier to be exploring a biome then stumble upon a chunk of trees that has no leaves, instead of just finding huge biome with a gray sky that looks like it was meant to be into the game, unlike where herobrine makes it look like its unnatural
-Make him way more horrifying. You nailed it with the jumpscare at the bed, the nightmares, but thats all. Im not much of a fan with how when you try to attack he just blinds you and leaves. I think when you try to attack him he should chase you and jumpscare, then vanish. Maybe you can make it where at random herobrine will spawn behind you and punch you then vanish. Maybe even kill you and vanish. Maybe you can make it so the only way to kill herobrine is in the neather with special gear.
Maybe you can make him strike you with lightning? Or maybe he could set your biome/house/youself on fire? Maybe he can summon possessed mods with white eyes to attack you!
-Give him more of his original powers. He should teleport around, destroy blocks, when you go to sleep make him appear in the corner of the window stalking you, stalk you in the vast distance
- MAKE HIM POSESS ANIMALS!!!!!!!!!!!! I like where you were going with the killing mobs, but what horrifies me more is walking up to a mob with white eyes, walking up to a villager with white eyes. Just getting scared to death by something like that
This isnt meant to be a hate comment, I absolutely love this mod its one of my favorites. These are just some things that I think should be added to make it more like the original natural herobrine creepy pasta, then just a unnatural mod

I always wanted there to be some demon/ghost mods for minecraft that took a more psychological turn instead of just being another enemy. Would be pretty cool to see something like that, but this is pretty close to that desire. Hats off to you!

It's easy to throw jumpscares and call it a horror, it's easy to use gore and disturbing stuff flying around and call it a horror, but i think this kind of sense of dread and unknown is the best way to make someone feel fear

Suggestions:
Don’t make herobrine obvious. (Make him appear in the corner of your eye, and quickly disappear instead of just walking around like a player. Herobrine finds it’s horror in its unexpectedness and the fact that he openly taunts you.)
Make him spawn behind windows.
Make the joining message random.

God. This is a great mod. You are truly a master of subtle psychological horror.
Tips for improvement:
1. To many jumpscares kind of ruins it. Would be better if spawns far away and when looked at will give you blindess and despawn/when coming into vision will despawn as to make you uncertain if yoy really saw him.
2. A way to actually challenge as endgame by summoning him with an alter. Requirments: enderdragonegg,beacon,witherstar.
3. Don't let him spawn in directly when you create the world, but between around 1 and 8 hours after youcreated the world.
I really like this suggestion, because to many occurrences would just ruin the mood, it wouldn't be scary

Herobrine should only spawn in during heavy weather, the rain should obscure him appearing and disappearing in the distance.
Absolutely. The Herobrine has joined thing should coincide with a thunderstorm happening in your world or something. And the vibe should be more along the lines of when you see a figure right at the edge of your render distance that disappears the moment you see it.

this is super cool! I'm sure some changes might need to be made to make it even more scary but this is awesome! I honestly don't know what part herobrine would play in Minecraft, maybe a boss or something scary like this, if Mojang ever truly adds him, it would be interesting

Only thing I wish he would change/update with this mod
1) allow herobrine to make 2x2 tunnels in your world
2) pyramids out of sand not just dirt (like the creepypasta mentions)
3) the haunted forests be normal wood not JUST birch
4) have the leaves on trees start dissapearing when you return rather than it being just a biome
5) remove the many herobrine spawning in the haunted forest, detracts from the mystery and stuff if there isnt just one
6) herobrine should always look at the player from far away and not move or walk
7) MOST IMPORTANT, the probability of events needs to be configurable. Imagine how much more scary it would be if it was only a 1 in 8000 chance, then you would never see it coming and would add to the mystery and more scary

A: i feel like only one herobrine should be able to exist at once. this will make the cursed forest biome feel a lot better, and give the mod a more realistic appearence.
B: there should be a few more structures in the cursed forest. the mineshaft, a 1x2 tunnel filled with redstone torches, and the ancient summoning altar, a failed attempt at summoning herobrine made by past explorers, built out of redstone torches, gold blocks, netherrack, and fire. just search up how to summon herobrine on youtube and you'll see what I mean.

Everything is awesome and im especially amazed by the nightmare if you successfully fall asleep thats spot on! Anyway one thing i’d add and i saw it a few years ago...Herobrine possessing for example chickens or cows and the ones possessed have white eyes

A really cool feature that you can add is stalker herobrine, like, sometimes you see herobrine looking at you from distance, like "behinde a tree"
ive been recommended this mod a bunch!!! i love the concept of herobrine in a world but all the mods ive seen have been way too antagonistic for me. Herobrine holds a special place in my heart as I was actually not scared of him as a kid. Frankly because of certain experiences when i was young, ive considered him a kind of friend for a long time. Ive been looking for a mod like this for a long time, instead of him actively hunting you hes just coexisting alongside you. i think this will be one of the closest mods to that wish. thank you!
well maybe, hes still being kinda mean but the concept is still SO good! im really impressed, most mods just have him actively attack you or summon possessed pigs to kill you but this is just really interesting! i love the psychological aspect a LOT

Herobrine is one of those cases where: "the less I know the better". Just the text "Herobrine has joined the world" would be enough to spook me. He should be a threat you know vaglue about but rarely (if ever) actually see clearly. Perhaps you saw an outline of something you think is Herobrine in the fog 130 days in the game and maybe you find one of those dirt pyramids on your journey another 436 days in.
Case in point it's not supposed to be made obvious that he's in your world and constantly near you, but instead actually stalking you from afar and messing with you very sparesly to get those genuine spooky moments.
Exactly that's perfect horror right there if you can see the monster it becomes much less scary true horror of herobrine was the thought of what will he do? Where is he? Does he exist? It was the uneasiness and feeling of not knowing if he was there or not
Maybe not 130 days in. A little less time than that. But I agree for sure. Also have him occasionally appear in your peripheral vision. For maximum scare factor, have him show up in front of your bed right before you fall asleep, but when you immediately wake up nobody is there. And finally after like a long ass time, have him appear directly in front of you, but just once, and possibly never again.
100's of days are way too far. I feel like a week or two in should be outlines appearing, him stalking you from far away. His fear comes from scotophobia, fear of being watched. Not fear of surprise.
A month would be dirt pyramids.
2 months in is him appearing behind you or Windows.
3 months will be him full on appearing.

I feel like herobrine would be scarier if there is only one, and it doesn’t tell you if he has joined, it would keep you on your toes
And it would be good for pranking youre friends by removing the join message

@@nilesi He's real he's a personification that people gave to glitches in Minecraft worlds. Once the mith started people blamed pretty much all generation glitches on Herobrine. Basically herobrine is all the bugs in Minecraft

A more faithful Herobrine mod is to have him have the stalker archetype, Herobrine will not announce he is in your world like "Herobrine joined the world", his existence in your world should be secret and up to the player to find him and verify Herobrine is in their world. Herobrine's appearances should be very hard to spot and when he is spotted, he will disappear via going behind a block and vanishing or moving away at impossible speeds until unseen. Herobrine's effect on the environment should be very minimal so it wouldn't be very obvious Herobrine is in their world, they have to see Herobrine to know he is in their world. Herobrine's only actions towards the player is to simply watch and stalk them from afar, that gives creepiness factor. He should also slowly get closer to the player for every time they spot him or should they not see Herobrine for quite a long while.

What if instead of when you randomly encounter herobrine instead of him just looking around he can look just. Straight. At. You. That would be terrifying, especially if sometimes he is located on top of a hill or higher up than you and just... Watching

I think the subtle stuff like coming back to find your door open/broken is the most creepy part
I remember hearing that Herobrine actually digs large long 2x2 tunnels in your world you should add that. have him dig MASSIVE tunnels and you find lots of riches there but there is is also a high chance that very geared mobs will spawn along with Herobrine himself.
