My parents are from Cordenons, and I toured part of northern Italy and it’s spectacular! I also toured the mosaic school in Spilimbergo. It’s awesome! Love speaking Furlan! Keep that ancient language going, not many people know it! Ciao! 🇨🇦

Cordenons people speak a dialect similar to the Venetian. The most part of Pordenone province speck this dialect

@@luigidallagnese2056 I think it's all pretty mixed there. I'm Australian but a lot of my relatives come from towns like Chions and Azzano Decimo (the other half in towns across the border in Veneto) and they all spoke Veneto but with lots of Furlan influence.

Thank you for this. It is fascinating for me. My Italian Great Grandfather's Ancestry was from Milano via Sicily. He immigrated to America in early 1870s. He purchased his ranch in my community on August 23, 1880 which I've now inherited. I'm now the 4th generation owner. The one story passed down to me was he always insisted that Raviolis be served for every Christmas Eve dinner. I continued on with that tradition this past Christmas. The 143rd year doing that in my community.
I also have the family ragu recipe and methodology. I'm glad to see her use Carrots and Celery. Our secret ingredient is plenty of Nutmeg, which I have a sneaky feeling is her's too 😊

I'm going to have to look through the Mardi Gras coins that my grandparents have. My grandfather was the head of Bacchus in the 70s and 80s, and probably has some of those coins. That's incredible! His work is stunningly beautiful, and so unique as it evolves.
Edit to add that the rooster was really excited that you guys met. Great hype guy.

Are they in N Italy or Florence ??
Or is Toscana actually considered "North" ?

OMG...as a now retired [union] journeyman stone and marble mason who worked with what I thought were good mosaic and terrazzo masons - SNAP - NONE could hold a candle to your Grandfather's 'abilities' Alessio. What a MASTER MECHANIC - a true and rare artist talent! Oh how I wish I could've met and worked with your Grandfather! I apprentised with a journyman who would go back to Italy to work in the Vatican once in awhile [Drew took me under his wing, so to speak, and always said stones have feelings and, too this day, I believe that to be the case]. Your Grandfather let each stone he touched 'speak their feelings' and, I believe, why your Grandfather's work is so alive. Enjoying the videos - thanks for sharing. Alla prossima...

There are lots of people in Switzerland, France and Italy who use wood-burning stoves to heat their house. The modern stoves are very efficient and some can be used to heat water which is then used to heat existing radiators by being plumbed into the central heating system. So not old-fashioned at all,but very ecological!

    • @annedodd5888

Wood burning stoves are very popular especially amongst people who convert their older houses back to their original and expose the fire places. They give out great heat and create a very cosy atmosphere. However, they are not good for the environment. They emit CO2!!😢😢

I'm Irish and in my early 40s. In my early childhood we had a Parkray fire, which was a fire built into the wall with a door and a glass window run on coal or anthracite. It used to heat the water and so in turn the radiators. Sometimes it would get so hot that the radiators would start to bang and we'd have to turn on the hot water tap to cool the rads down. I was too young to get the coal from the bunker in the back garden but I did rake it out the following morning and clean the glass. In summer we obviously wouldn't light a fire but we had an immersion to heat the water. A real fire is so comforting though.

Exactly! We're being scolded not to burn wood, don't use gasoline, but to purchase EV that costs outrageous PLUS 5-15K to replace a battery that is the MOST UN-RECYCLABLE thing!! It's nonsense. Do your part to recycle, and then 91% of plastics aren't even recycled. If the wealthy, jet-flying, multiple homes people lecturing us from Davos actually cared, plastics would not be everywhere including the oceans. You and I are doing our part, these elites are NOT. They don't like us having a small life with a little woodstove which is actually heating places like Alessio's mom's entire home. GLASS is 100% recyclable and our foods need to come in glass vs. plastic.

Hi Alessio and Jessi, that stone wall was really amazingly beautiful and so much detail. I have never put Celery and Carrots in Lasagna but will have to try it. All of the dishes looked really tasty. Have to say that the Celery looked really fresh and Green with so many leaves on the top. In the USA you can hardly ever get that nice of Celery in the Super Market.
Glad that you showed the individual shops that you can buy specific things in his hometown. Usually the food you get in those shops are much better than the normal Grocery store Meats and Produce.
Really enjoyed the vide as it is always interesting to see how people live in different parts of the world.

The celery and carrots are not part of Lasagna specifically, but they're ingredients that make the soffritto (sautéed?) in which you will cook the ragù meat.
My mom does it too, I just don't care if the soffritto is just onions or the full onion-celery-carrots trio... 😅
