You are one of my favourite knitting content creators. I immediately watch yours. Love how you often show your sources for creativity and inspiration (traditional Asian patterns, cool fashion brands, k dramas).
The compound raglan (curved raglan seam on the Emiliana Sweater from Doen) is for fit, not only to remove extra fabric in the shoulders but also so that you can grade larger sizes without the yoke depth being super long! You can think of it as being midway between a "straight line" raglan and Suzy Myers' contiguous shoulder construction.
Love these videos. I had a design teacher that said Dry Clean Only was mainly because of heat or friction of the washing machine. So she just washed all of her stuff on gentle and air dried (or cool fluff for a bit then air dry). She said she only ruined one skirt in decades of doing that.
i do the same, never had a problem. i'm a lil more careful with silk just because i love them so much. but putting them in a garment bag or a tied off pillow case gives me enough peace of mind, most of the time. Most of the time.
i think the reason doen curved the raglan was so that they could fit more of that lace knit detail around the armhole/ neckline. they also probably wanted a softer, curved look versus a straight seam for the raglan.
It probably is Maybelline. Whoever bought the "arm donut" I hope they show us how they decided to style it. Seemed like a slimmed down Katniss crop top. Keep up the great work!
This was so entertaining! After learning to knit and learning about yarn it’s so interesting to see knit items in store/ online and investigate the composition and design. Would love more similar videos to this!
I think that looks like a kind of compound raglan …. So they do a bit of shoulder shaping and then go into raglan shaping…. Pretty popular now with designs I notice IMHO 🤔🙂👏🏼🧶🧶🧶 love the show 🥰
Yup, PA is polyamide. P something is symbol for polymers, like PU for polyurethane, etc. I feel it was kinda shady, because people often don't know it and it's like hiding the content but still obeying the law, because they technically didn't.. And for the price I think they shouldn't hide the content behind symbols.
Love that this is becoming an ongoing series lol. Brand suggestions for next time: Cordera (my fave fave fave RTW knitwear brand), Nikki Chasin, &Daughter, Tricot Paris, Hades Wool
loooooved the video so much, makes me excited for autumn knitting!! can you think of patterns similar to the frisson knits semi-chunky v-neck sweater and penny lane shrug? xx
Following up now that I’ve made it through the babaa section 😂 I really wanted to love this brand when I first started knitting/sewing since a lot of the “more sustainable” content creators seem to like their sweaters. However - I don’t understand how a brand like this gets away with one size sweaters. They do share sizing information for each sweater and there is some variety, however based on the ones I’ve looked at, very few of their sweaters would fit on my body with the required amount of ease (I’m 5’10”, 205 pounds, and have a 107cm chest circumference). I’m always surprised by the lack of criticism they receive on size inclusivity, especially considering the cost of their sweaters. I also question how wearable their sweaters in normal situations (daily wear, casual work outfits) as opposed to being styled in photoshoots. So, in summary, wanted to like this brand since I like oversized clothing but I just don’t understand how they are as well-loved as they are.
Love these kinds of videos that you make. I've been knitting for a few decades and I also like to dress like I know what time it is .. sometimes I think that the higher end brands find their inspiration from the hand knitting community, not the other way around. I've always wondered how come fashion houses/designers seem to follow the same-ish vibe each season, do they get together beforehand and decide? One thing that struck me is that when you analyse at the kind of detail you've done here it's kind of appalling (and insulting) that these companies are charging that kind of money for badly constructed/poorly fitting garments that are made with dodgy fibre contents and sweatshop machine made.
There is a cardigan option for the lauder! Creabea seems to really love having options in her patterns (which is obviously cool) so the lauder pattern has options for pullover/ cardigan and crew/ v-neck.
The doen short long sleeves is giving me middle school trauma flash backs of being a tall skinny gangly kid and all my clothes fit like that. That was literally the reason I started making my own clothes so my sleeves and pants would be long enough
mmm I am thinking I will go and live in New Zealand and Knit as a job? The dry cleaners are very upset with knitters, because we hand wash all the knits =D
My grandmother said as long as I use a decent detergent and appropriate washcycle, using the washingmachine is no problem. Apparently a lot of companies just put the dry cleaning tag, so they're not liable should their product not hold up after washing. It's like a better safe than sorry policy.
I like these videos because I have literally zero knowledge of any brands/fashion. It’s interesting to see how styles and trends are changing and this is the only way I see that😅
Hey! And hi! Never heard of any of the brands. I’m still working on trying to make a nice cardigan for the fall/winter. I just have to make a decision. Some nice insp
Can you continue recommending more Korean knitwear designers? I found out about knitpourmoi from you and is knitting her baguette sweater right now. I also fell in love with sedna knitting designs and hope to make some of accessories one day.
I'm sorry but that red sweater from babaa looks awful - and one size with no dimensions! Please! I'm so happy I can knit haha. Thanks for your video, I know when I used to go on the og Ganni website for some inspo before finding a pattern but now I don't even look to anything other that knitting youtube and ravelry for inspo so didnt know these brands at all!
i’m extremely impressed by your encyclopedic memory of knitting patterns that correspond to all of these garments! this was fun.
My brain is full of yarn and little else 🤡
The term 'hand knit' often means using a knitting machine, not needles. It's still considered hand knit because it's done one at a time by a person.
I could watch this for DAYS. These are the conversations I wish I could have IRL

"Children must play!" - You are a very understanding and thoughtful person. The world still stands because there are ppl like you.🥲
“The children must play”

Yes, another window shopping video!! Brb running to grab my current wip.

🫶 this makes sense thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing the knowledge!! 👀
I think PA meant polyamide (aka synthetic, but strong fibre) :P
i love when brands try to reinvent the wheel lol. i saw some boiled wool hats in a small shop that said made in the PRC 🤣

I want you to go over the Korean designer brands too!! My recommendation is the brand named Smoothmood and Sinoon
Corozo buttons are actually a sustainable alternative to plastic buttons - it's a nut/massive seed. Pretty cool

petiteknit has been doing that rolled edge so much lately!
Truly loved the format of this video! Thanks for taking the time to make it!

I'm dying to do some harlequin intarsia. The sweater you showed has big fit issues, but I kinda want it. Thanks for the inspo.
Great idea poor execution def, your version will be 1000x better!!

If I had to wear Babaa sweaters I would also look like I've lost the will to live like the models who wear it on their website.
The oversized sweaters, including the necklines is very 80’s

AI overview
PA stands for polyamide, a synthetic fiber also known as nylon
I always ask myself, “why buy it when I can make it?” 🤔 Thanks for this window shopping session! 🩷
