Well, there are a few problems. A tank would never advance without any infantry support. You simply cannot secure ground or trenches with tanks alone. This is also vice versa.
I was in the army but I was never in the front. Guys who got the Bronze Star in general never want to talk about it. That is the ones from Viet Nam. On the other hand in most cases infantry guys from WW 2 talked about their experiences in a matter of fact way and told it the way it happened. One WW 2 vet said that when he pulled the pin on the grenade, he had to wait a couple of seconds to let the timer run down. He said Germans were very gifted at picking up grenades thrown at them and throwing it back from where it came from. He said that they would aim high for an area so that the falling flak from the grenade would cause casualties. One Vet told me that in the film "It's a Wonderful Life", George Bailey was 4F because he couldn't hear in one ear. He told me that in 1940 he was called down to the draft board and was deferred because he had a problem with one of his arms and he could barely hear in one of his ears. He had a really good job in a factory at the time. Than in early 1942 they called him back to the draft board and they checked him out again and told him that they would put him in the artillery because "with the bad ear, what difference would it make and if he could work on the line in the factory with his arm, he'll do just fine in the army." I asked him even though he had those problems they still put him in. In his own words, "That was World War 2. Back then, if you were breathing you were going." He was in France 2 days after Normandy and had to battle the Germans in France as an infantry man. His unit along with others came into Holland. He said the Dutch people were glad to see them but they kept their distance because the soldiers had not bathed for a few days. So what the people did was, each family would invite a soldier into their home and let him wash up. Food there at the time there was not in full supply. The soldiers reciprocated by giving the people what they had saved from their C Rats, or things like cigarettes which all was highly valued. I would never embellish anything or make up a story up how I served and fought in the infantry. Wise not to pretend being a combat Vet nowadays. With the internet it's easy to it check out.
I think it's an interesting difference between vets from Vietnam and those from WWII. Those from WWII had a clear goal and enemy. The people at home knew it and they knew what they're fighting for. In their own eyes it justifies their actions. Those in Vietnam had many doubts as to why they were there, people at home thought the same so there wasn't any heroes welcome. The veterans felt confused and eventually it came down to getting all back home again for them.

One of the best movies about Wv2. Much better than shit and fables of Holywood. My respect to makers.
Than in early 1942 they called him back to the draft board and they checked him out again and told him that they would put him in the artillery
because "with the bad ear, what difference would it make and if he could work on the line in the factory with his arm, he'll do just fine in the army."
I asked him even though he had those problems they still put him in.
In his own words, "That was World War 2. Back then, if you were breathing you were going."
He was in France 2 days after Normandy and had to battle the Germans in France as an infantry man.
Kudos

I think it's an interesting difference between vets from Vietnam and those from WWII. Those from WWII had a clear goal and enemy. The people at home knew it and they knew what they're fighting for. In their own eyes it justifies their actions. Those in Vietnam had many doubts as to why they were there, people at home thought the same so there wasn't any heroes welcome. The veterans felt confused and eventually it came down to getting all back home again for them.

All Armies had to use assault tactics to take there objectives.
@@TheCriticom
I think the enemy charging tactics of WW1 were modified by WW2. Certainly in the West. Stalin wasn't that bothered about losses because he had an unlimited supply of men. The German Army had exceptional leadership and well trained soldiers, they wouldn't just approach enemy lines in lemming-like fashion.

Most shocking part is that the story behind this movie was proven to be a lie long before it was filmed.
Neither a complete lie, nor a complete truth. The soviets did stop the Germans right outside of Moscow and they were on their last numbers before the snow froze the fronts. Let's not rob the soviets of credit where it is due. They were bungling idiots throughout the early part of the invasion but fought valiantly when the fight got closer to Moscow.
