My 97 came with the thin aluminum grips providing the "2x4" feel. I bought a set of earlier model grips that provided more contact surface on the palm of my hand, a much more comfortable feel. As to the non skid tape, a thin strip where the heel of my hand makes contact with the back strap and either side of the serrations where my fingers wrap. I wouldn't tape the grips.
Again another great video and review. You say that you bought these used, they look brand new. One additional positive I see is that, when someone makes mag extensions for this 97, the added grip length will help the it. The grips themselves look good.
Thanks Rich. Extended mag bases would be great, but just waiting for some more aftermarket support. They were actually dirty when I got them. Had to clean them. But they do look almost brand new now!!!!!
Abyss 1232 hello there . Get myself a 97b & can't wait to see your your videos on it . Regarding the skateboard great from CZC I have those on my 75 Compact & work great, but the skateboard tape wear quick, just replace my first time. Thanks
@@InkwellFoto Yes I have tried and they don't even come close. I tried the Nill grips for a 75 series and they could possibly fit but a lot of modification to either the grips or TS frame would have to be made.
Yeah it's a big grip by itself and the palm swells make it even bigger. But I love the way it fills my hands. Think it actually forces me to hold even harder. It's a great gun either way.
The ones in the video are from my TS, yes, but just for the sake of the video. They do not fit over and vise versa. The actual 97 wood grips are very similar but obviously made to fit the 97. Like I said, I used them just to make the video. Good eye!!!!!!!
Does the magazine fit in the German grips without any modification, base plate changes or does the stock mag fit? I just bought some, thank you very much!
DaveandDebe Yes, for me, stock mags fit inside magwell. Looks awesome. After some practice I got used to the mag changes. I also am using an extended mag release.
abyss1232 I bought these Nill grips from Germany. $245 dollars. Took about 6 weeks to receive them. You gave me all the info you could and I appreciate that,,, but, I hate the grips. They are paper light like balsa wood. They don't fit the shape of the gun and they creak. The pin screw stripped out, and wood chipped off the grips. I expected heavy solid quality grips with some type of rubber backing that adhere to the gun, it's like putting rock on a rock it just does not fit properly,, I put the $25 rubber grips from CZ USA on it and it feels incredible. They look good in your video,, but fell apart in my hands.. Lesson learned,,
DaveandDebe Sorry to hear about your experience. For sure they are a personal preference as far as feel goes. They ARE light as you mentioned, but mine have been holding strong. After the amount of abuse my guns take, I've stayed with them. Where did you purchase yours from? Surely, there is a return policy or warranty work you can claim?
abyss1232 Thank you,,, I bought these from Nill-Griffe in Germany. I emailed them and they use broken English. You can only buy them in Germany from the manufacturer. They had to go through us customs with special paper work because alot of woods are banned from import. They were released to a farm in California then shipped to customers in the United States. Took 6 weeks. They only ship from Germany about 9 shipments a year. The credit card company had to take different steps because the money was payed in euro overseas. It would take a ton of my time and money to even figure out how to export them back to Germany. That's why I said lesson learned. I sent them an email telling them I was unhappy, never heard back. I love the feel of the rubber grips. Guess I was hoping they would fit like they do on the Sig P210 Target. If they had a little rubber molding on the grips backside I could have seen it working. Your has no creak? No gaps? It's two Solid Surfaces attached to each other, they are not conformed in anyway.
@@DaveandDebe Mine are still holding up for the 97. I had to tighten the screws and put some loctite on the bottom screw that goes through the magwell. Other than that they're good. I picked up a used set for the regular CZ 75 and no creaking. Pretty solid. Light, but solid. Did have some chipping around the magazine release cutout but managed to put it back together. In this set, not all magazines fit in the space provided in the magwell but I'm working on a fix for that. Will post video if I don't destroy them in process! Haha
Yay another video!! Every Sunday morning I check for a new one from you lol. How does the magazine fit? Do you have any troubles inserting or getting it out? Are there any kind of magazine extensions made to utilize the extra grip length? As always, wonderful video, and thank you for my Sunday morning CZ fix from you 😆 Also, I would love to see you work your magic on a P-01 like you did on your SP-01 tactical someday. ~Jennifer~
The magazines sit inside the grips so if not accustomed to it, might not allow proper seating. As of now I cannot find any extended bases for the 97. Limited aftermarket unfortunately. I have dry fired the heck out of it and numerous mag changes have made this a non-issue though. Mags drop free so no problems there. The magazine release is tight from the factory, but as I mentioned, I have worked that in and feels better now. If funds become available I will definitely work on a compact or P 01. But the SP 01 Tactical is nearly identical to the work that would be done for any decocker. Thanks for the words. Appreciate the support!
Hello! Thank you for your very informal CZ videos! i like them a lot. I hope to get a CZ 97 sometime soon as well, and those Nill Griffe are really tempting. Did you proceed with installing a SA trigger on the 97 and comparing it to a 1911? Regards!
Philipp Ott Yes I have converted my 97 to SA a while ago..... and...... well...... it's amazing! Unfortunately I'm waiting to get another worthy 1911 to do the comparison. I sold it because the 97 way out performed the basic 1911.
82 Luft No need from what it seems like. Not sure the threading on the screws would grab with o rings in place. With several rounds through it now everything seems to be doing fine.
This grips are so beautiful. I actually stumbled upon their site as I was looking for upgrades to my SP-01. Man, you are right. Expensive. Might be worth it. I would have liked to have seen what a magazine looked like in it and whether or not it filled the grip out to the bottom or not.
I was extremely lucky to have found these used and at a discounted price. Yes expensive. But definitely beautiful!!!!! Mags sink slightly in the magwell but doesn't make it difficult to seat magazine.
Hi ... The sig model you're most likely referring to is the P210 model. Check out the following link www.waffen-oschatz.de/CZ_97_Sport.html You can use google translate. Cheers
Sig uses them on a couple pistols. Yes the P210 is one of them. That is a great company and really wish we could get there stuff here in the US. They have everything you can think of for CZ!!!!!!!!!
I know this video is 2 years old which means technology has caught up. Take your smartphone camera and use the Google translate feature. It will translate the words into English.
The aluminum grips are my least favorite. The Nill grips are the best in every way, but their hundreds of dollars price. The CZ rubber grips are the most functional, so I found on Amazon some wood grips that are very similar to the CZ rubber grips, but better because they are slightly thicker than the rubber grips. They were made and shipped directly to me out of Thai Land for $43, and it took 15 days to be shipped to my door. Check out feelsogood on Amazon for CZ grips.
I was looking at the blood red Lok bogie grips , but man these look good . Thank you for the video.
i love that wood look to it reminds me of those 80s shot guns
That target grip with the pistol is brilliant--good choice.
Expensive, delicate, hard to come by, but there is no other like them.

Grip tape on the front and back strap helps a lot for me. The palm swell makes the biggest difference even though it's a handful with my glove size.
BEAUTIFUL grips ], but the pistol will look odd unless you get larger magazines pads? If you did find any - please share. Thank you.
Been looking for options since I got in new!! Thanks. N&G $258.00 new here goes nothin

Yeah the skateboard grip tape seems to wear quickly for me too but I have a lot to spare so I change it out when needed.
A most helpful video, thanks so much!
Appreciate the comment. Thanks for watching. Glad it helped.
Any chance that Nill-Griffe makes a set like these for the Tactical Sport?
Robert Brewer I checked the catalogue but not to my knowledge. They sure are beautiful though.
abyss1232 have you tried to install them on your tactical sport
