There are island maps in SC1 Zerg Campaigns. You must allow overlords dropping zerglings. Even then I still doubt if the Zergling only run is possible.
You alredy need to make ovelords for supply anyways, and you are not attacking with them. The protoss campaign is trickier to make rules for since you need cannons for anti air and shuttles for a few missions
This seems like a good time to point out that StarCraft 1 Zerglings looked really, really weird. Those spike-arms they have in StarCraft 2 were originally grabby hands in the first game, and their unmatched DPS was achieved by just slapping people really hard and really fast. What's REALLY weird, though, isn't that they attacked with weird grabbing appendages - but that their design was extremely inconsistent. In game, they are bipedal creatures with grabby arms that arc above their head, a head that resembles a hydralisk, and a face that is distinct and vaguely looks like a cross between a bug and a canine. In cutscenes, they are bipedal creatures with spike arms that rest below their head and both a head and face that resembles a hydralisk. And going even further, in THE SC1 MANUAL, the CGI-rendered model displayed for the Zergling is a quadrupedal creature, whose front legs are scything blades, has grabby arms that arc above their head, and has a head that resembles a hydralisk, the distinct Zergling bug-dog face, and gigantic tusk-mandibles similar to the StarCraft 2 Ultralisk. A really bizarre unit, which only really got a concrete design once StarCraft Ghost came into development.
I always thought it was kind of neat how SC1 "-lisks" all seemed like they were these wild mutations off the same basic template, meaning you could see those sorts of shared features across all of them. Really hits on the hive mind feel.
This was at least partially due to the fact that the cinematics were all done way early, before the appearance of many of the units were finalized so many of the units looked considerably different in the cinematics/manual than their sprites (even into the beta many weren't quite finalized yet). The carrier and dragoon had a lot of clear differences between their cutscenes/manual render and in-game sprite.
Gotta love artifacts of previous patches - Daggoth tells you to build a spawning pool when you have 150 minerals, because they only cost 200 minerals in a later balance patch. TMYK!
In my childhood, when I played this mission, i thought that the red hydras are enemies and I avoided them for the entire mission (i used transport overlord to carry the Chrysalis)
Oh no... I'm currently replaying SC1 because I never beat it legit when I was a kid, and boy some of the zerg missions are already insane enough XD Can't wait to see #9
These Only runs you've been doing in StarCraft 1 has gotten me to buy SC Remastered and play the game again. Thanks! You should get something from Blizzard!
My prediction: mission3 is extremely hard but doable (300+ death) Mission4 is just dropzergz anyway Mission6: well, are devourers Zerglings? If so, it is somewhat OK, if not, you're in for a ride Mission 7 and 8 are kinda OK. Mission 9 - daaamn, zergz only against skytoss??? Mission 10 - that's actually quite a funny bloodbath once you secured the resources on the lower half
Wasting Hunter Killers definitely hurts. I'm also not 100% sure that HKs *are* the strongest unit you can get. They're definitely up there, but I think its hard to compete with Devouring ones, or Marine Jimbo.
I honestly can't wait to see you try these campaigns deathless. It'd be interesting to see if it's even possible. Particularly brood war is my questioning on if it's possible or not.
I look forward to watching this entire series and then watching the recap video on the main channel. The finale just dropped 15 minutes ago so I'll see how long it takes for the main video to drop.
Speed runners, commonly described as people who experiment very extensively to learn literally everything about a game so they can do everything with perfection...also described as, wasting their own time and failing to experiment at the most basic level.
funny store about spreading creep is SC1. i used to always spread the creep around for fun in the campaign. now SC2 where its a mechanic i hate it lmao
Haha, I did this over ten years ago, but only for the Standard Campaign, not Broodwar. You only ever need to get 3 Hives and then spam. Did it only casually though, so since I didn't think much of what to do about the island mission on Char... I just spammed Mutas instead. Looking forward to what you figure. You need to get those units over somehow.
Unfortunately for this challenge, this campaign has a really low amount of air units. Lings can clear entire maps while being bruised by a few carriers/scouts/wraiths. Mission 5 (using ensnare support from Kerrygan) and 6 (you dont start with a base) are probably the hardest ones, but the rest is pretty doable
Watching this, your Marines Only run, and your main channel videos on the basic unit runs, I can't shake the feeling that someone(s) in the development team hated Protoss and tweaked it to make them the worst faction. The vast majority of their units get countered by the basic units of the other races, their basic units are awful, their static defense is secretly a joke (being able to hit air and ground doesn't even come close to making up for their terrible DPS compared to Zerg and Terran static defense), they basically have one decent unit for countering some ground units, but even their strong units come with extra costs compared to other factions and are often easily countered. The only thing going for them in SC1 is their warp-in building (and even that is mitigated by the giant Achilles Heel of the power field requirement) and that the carrier is an AI breaker. Things are a little better in SC2, but they still have a problem of their basic unit being weak and not countering anything, and numerous higher-tech units being countered by Zerg and Terran basic units.
You missed like Overmind mission in Protoss campaign that could had been beaten by Marines only. I hope in this run you will do like protoss missions that gives your control over zerg so you can do zerglins only there!
He already said a couple times that he saved that mission for Zealots only since it was harder than Marines only. The mission could be done with either of them, but he wanted to give it a proper matching since it was the last Protoss mission.
Yeah... SC1 CC/Hatchery placement is kind of ridiculous. It can be interesting at times, like if you want to be closer to minerals or gas but it is silly that the start of every campaign mission involves you either lifting up your CC to move it a tile or 2 closer, or REALLY wishing you were Terran...
It's costly, and it has little to no benefit. In multiplayer, creep can be used to deny enemy building, and that's about it. There's no movement speed bonus in SC1.
There's a hotkey for gamespeed cause you might wanna speed up the game while macroing and slow down the game while microing edit: its also useful to slow down the game while you read tooltips and stuff
I kept hearing "raids" at the beginning of the vod, and how he'll have to deal with the raids... Then I see a wraith and everything connects. I need my ears checked.
This challenge has already completed a few weeks ago. You will know how he beat it when the vod of that mission is up. Save the cry when he actually couldn't beat it.
Oh yay, it's Zerglings only!
Oh no, only one mission in and I've already suffered a crushing defeat.
The man really crushed you here, and I thought he was your biggest fan.
i remember that run, i laughed my ass off when i saw that.

Just to reiterate, this is a vod from streams. The run is already over and complete.
@@Perral How long ago was this?
@@fgtrhwu2 A few weeks, now. Zealots only is done, too.
@@Perral I was just about to think if this ends with those island missions. Seems like Grant is a fucking wizard. (also thanks for spoilers :P)

It's a zergling, Lester. It's a smaller type of Zerg.
They're so cute all hopping around. Like a cross between an overenthusiastic puppy and a swarm of locusts.

"Do with my minions as you will, Cerebrate."
*Kills them all sacrificially at the beginning of the mission*
"...N-no, that's not..."
Will it become sending 400 lings by groups of 12? I'm exited to see it.
i feel its gonna be more like 10 hatcheries that all update their rally points then mass spawn all at once ontop of the enemy base...
Also, changing the game speed in SC1 was basically my way of changing the difficulty.
Zerglings look very creepy in SC1, they look as if they had human arms for overhead claws
They not only look like they have human arms for claws, they actually are arms + hands XD

Time to leap at starships and chew them !
The last mission in the original campaign, on Aiur, is just played blind via mini-map once you have the flank-bases. It's so silly.

Just type in power overwhelming this makes it so much easier grant, come on.

Kinda wish that thumbnail would be a ling just chilling on a beach. Someone make it happen!
Not gonna lie, the thumbnail is what brought me here.
This is going to be interesting. Zerglings are very powerful but I worry that the inability to target air will be quite annoying. Also lukers. . .
