My innermost question answered. Thx Joe.
Thanks for all you do Joe.
Update:
When I first began KB training several years ago my single 53 pounder was my arch nemesis and after several years of progress I’ve graduated to my heaviest bell to date which is a 100 pounder.
I’m injury free and stronger than ever. I’m doubling up on all my bells and have definitely seen huge progress by gradually by “doubling up” before training with a heavier bell for singles. Thanks again.
Thanks for the advice! I’ve been trying to figure out what kettlebells I should buy. This helped a lot.
you're welcome
Best workout advice I ever received... love the variation with two bells and the killer workouts. Start lighter folks as Joe said.
Thank you!
You are right Sir, that is exactly what I did recently. Doing double swings, snatches, squats and presses. Working to learn the Turkish get up also.
Nice.
Best what to get advice ever!!
I'm happy it helps
Joe thanks a lot you are the kettlebell gurú.
Just in case have you ever make a video in which is explained how to realize how heavy the kettlebell can be to avoid injuring.
Logical. God gave men 2 balls, not one
Some get lost..
@@kettlebellmusclegain lol. Agreed
Some get tumours and need to be chopped off. Checkemlads
But look what Lance Armstrong accomplished with one
So true. It was full of lies though
Just contemplating that very same issue. Guess this was a sign lol. Thanks
You're welcome man yep I believe in signs I'm not sure why the stuff isn't talked about more often
You answered my question. Now I buy a pair of kettlebells.
What are your thoughts of getting a slightly heavier bell and performing doubles for asymmetric loading? I have been working with a 24k for several months and can perform most exercises with relative ease (except the snatch - they gas me out). I was considering another 24k to do double front squats, clean and press. Then, I thought about getting a 60lb bell to add weight to single arm training and perhaps still perform doubles. Any suggestion here - should I get another 24k or another bell slightly heavier?
Love this advice I don’t think we hear enough people saying it!!!
Too many people focused on the weight of just one bell. Not collective weight
@@kettlebellmusclegain 16kgx2 is a dream and a super filling and engaging session… 32kgx1 makes me question my life choices sometimes lol!! Both needed but the way you put that is spot on brother!!! Such good advice and plan for someone growing into it!!
Haha yep! I made a mistake and im working on pairs now. I had a 35 and a 55. Now i have two 35s and im working on another 55
I wish I had heard this a few months ago. I had a single 20kg and it was time to move up. I ended up buying a 2nd 20kg as well as a 32kg. And I don’t fully regret my decision as the 32kg has been very useful for raw strength. However, my pair of 20kg is are my main focus. I really had no idea how much I’d love a pair and how useful they would be. I also had no idea how much they’d kick my ass. If I’d known I would have saved the heavier 32kg for a later purchase.
Love your vids!
Absolutely. And you're welcome
On again ,,, Thanks ... Joe D .
Very welcome!
Thanks man,I've been debating this for a while. I'll probably get another 35lb kettlebell. Love your channel dude.Maybe I'll get strong as you one day. What kind of diet do you recommend doing Kettlebells? ??? Can you do a video on this please???? God bless you man.
"ill do my best. check out my playlist "functional nutrition"
Great advice. What I’ve noticed is that 2x12kg swings feels easier than 1x24kg. It shouldn’t feel any different but it does.
Right. You have more grip connection per hand.
Thanks man
Thanks for watching!
I asked myself when I can press one single 20kg 5 sets 10 reps. What should I buy a second 20kg kb? Of course at first it is a little bit stressful but you are moving the same weight per side. For example a 5 x 10 reps set with one or two KBs are still the same kid for the side? IMHO I bought a second 16kg kb and yes it’s heavy at first but it’s very quickly the same like the training g with the single one. After round about one month I can handle both. I updated my workout with two 20kg KBs because the 16s are too easy.
If I am wrong correct me :)
I have a 35. Would you recommend 2 25's or 30's? Just curious if doubling the swing weight might be to heavy to keep good form.
Wish I'd seen this video. Had a 45 then got a 60lb which gave me tendonitis in my arm/elbow and kept me away for 2 months. I can't press shit anymore and have to retread a lot of growth
i wanna try doing just bodyweight exercises baring dumbbell work and cable work for shoulders and kettle bell swings you think I should do it?
Nice to hear your thoughts on this but I'd take an exception and say if you can only have two kettlebells go for one lighter and one heavier one. I find double kettlebell swings awkward to do. A heavier bell along with a lighter bell can be programmed in numerous other ways than two lighter bells. Movements such as presses, rows and cleans are better when doing with a single bell with the cross-body stabilization needed to give you a good core workout as well.
You can swing outside of legs with doubles. Also. Agree with stabilizatuon factor on
F one bell but theyve already been building a base of that with the single bell they have. 2 bells of same weight opens up many more options
To say exactly what you did and be redundant about redundancy; it also makes sense to keep in mind the weight of your pairs (ie. 35+35=70) when you DO buy that bigger bell and get something not so close to 70 since you already have that weight covered for many lifts/swings.
I have two 9s that I use to warm up so I avoid a 20.
9+9=18
35+35=70
Next purchase for me will be a 50 something, right between my pairs :)
Absolutely Ive made that exact video before. Its just smart.
Good Advice
Thanks.nit truly is the best way to go.
Well, I didn't do that already...
Smart. What about an uneven pair? Ive got 4 different bells
thatworks
Love ittt so true ❤️🙏
Thanks
I'm using a 10kg and 12kg simultaneously these days.. That should be OK right? I went from a single 12kg to using 2 kettlebells 10 and 12kg
Ps can you pls do a follow along kindve work out vid for beginners using kbs.. Where before starting a rep u do a quick breakdown of form too.. Like a 20min workout or 30min work out.. If you already have pls send a link ta
Thank u! I got 2x 20kg . Too light for suts but heavy enough for my upper body
Nice!
Check my latest upload.
That makes sense
Ive done this for 13 years. No really better way
I could not agree more. I own an18lb, a 26lb and two 35's. Then I bought two 44's. I thought about going higher in weight with one big bell but I'm happy I didn't. I still use the lighter weight for warm ups. I'm getting a bit older and appreciate a good warm-up more than I used too. I just bought two 53's but after two 44's I'm glad took a smaller step. Buy two for sure. It's far more versatile.
Best wishes, thanks for the video!
Very welcome!
What about the cross body stabilization benefits on single arm work
yes youll get that when you train with singles. benefits to doing both. singles and doubles,
I'm 53, and just started kb training this past August. I've been working since 1980, football, karate, weight-training, etc., this is some of the most challenging and fun I've ever had working out. I do have a 35# and am completely happy with the one, I probably won't go up much higher, maybe 40#. I have a lot of aches and pains, and do a pretty long warm-up. Should I get a heavier one, or should I stick with this weight? Or should I challenge myself?
Take Pavel's smart and sinister approach: do 10 sets of 10 single arm swings (totaling 100), rest, and then do 5 turkish get ups on each side within five minutes (for each side). If you can do that comfortably, then it's time to go up in weight.
Easy but incredibly bland. Doesnt hit everything. Too minimal
@@kettlebellmusclegain Hah I don't disagree, but the man's question was if he should go up in weight.
Hahaha I know youre right too!
Can I double swing 50 and 45 and switch bells / hands every set?
I would...... that is a very small difference. If it was much more than 5 lbs i would be more careful as to not generate too much offset force.
Grow a pair 🤣🤣🤣🤪. Awesome mate, cheers.
I wish!
everything is about clean reps.
Yes!
Doesn't using two kettlebells take away the cross work and stabilization work our body has to do when using a single bell? =(
Ps : sorry for bad english
It can and it depends. It also makes you stronger. Do both . I love single kb work . also double.
@@kettlebellmusclegain I currently have a 10kg bell, and just ordered a 16kg, my intention is to get a 24kg next, would you advice me to get another 16kg before the 24kg??. Thanks for replying, i always watch your videos !
PS: Are you still doing the 50 swings a day? i have been doing them for 5 months now.
Absolutely. And yes I do 50 somethings a day. Usually snatch now.
Thanks for supporting.

I respectfully disagree. And the example you gave is exactly why I disagree: people don't just double it. The gap is too great. Just because you can swing a 24 kg bell doesn't mean you can swing a 48 even remotely proficiently. And 2x24 isn't going to make a difference in that respect. Imho, it all depends a bit on where your first bells range in weight. If you got an 8 and then a 12 you get another 8 after. But if you got a 16 and then a 20 I'd get a 24 before I'd consider another 16. You can already work with 2 unmatched kb's for some heavier work anyway. Just switch them around each set.
Cool youre right you can. But many peoppe are doing KB sport and you cant offset that. Its also not just swinging. Perhaps i didnt mention that. Cant remember its an old video. But presses double snatch jerk etc. Of course it depends on first bells weightm but most deconditioned to kettlebell people shouldnt be starting with 24 anyway
i have 8 kg. and now bought 1X16... hope I'll find what to do with one :)
What do you need help with? I have a few starter programs you can try email me at danielsfitnesstraining@gmail.com
@@kettlebellmusclegain At the moment i can only do swings with this weight. and want to be able to do snatches or just lift it in one hand :)
mabe i over exaggerate with this weight.....?
Two hand cleans can be a start.
@@kettlebellmusclegain thanks!
and so i did it
Did you do it well!?
@@kettlebellmusclegain
I'm try my best.thx
Shit I had a 40lb and just got a 55lb! Should have seen this prior to pulling the trigger
It's all good!
Just keep doing alot of unilateral things
Next bell get another 40
Swing This Kettlebell and Strength yep, thank you for the note. I picked it up about 3 months ago and focused on Swings + Jope rope and I feel great!
Totally disagree with this advice. Jumping from swinging a 35 to swinging 2 35s is way too much, especially for newbies. It also doesn't do anything for your 1 handed excercises, be it any pressing motion, windmills, TGUs. Meanwhile if you get a bigger bell you can progressively overload every single excercise you were doing before.
You can now press with both arms at the same time, a weight that you have already outgrown. Great! So much better!
You can double row a weight that is already too light for you. WTF?
This advice makes no sense
It might make no sense to you but doing bilateral exercises builds many things. Tension and strength wise especially after unilateral phases. Obviously we want progressively heavier weights but many people goals is to do kettlebell sport as well. And you need double bells for jerk and long cycle. . Double deadlifts before swings.etc. .besides there are so many other variables to measure and progress on not just weight. I appreciate your thoughts.
So let me ask you can you press 36kg one arm? Ok can you press both arms with 36kg? Its a totally different /feel exercise for the whole body not just your arms.
👍🏿🍎
U can’t do swings with 2 kettlebells at the same time
One in each hand....
Duh I know but I’m swinging 2 50lb bells there too big to swing at the same time
They would hit each other if my timing was off
Im not trying to be a jerk , but I dont see the issue as competition, style bells are larger than 50 lb regular bells and people all over do it with varying sized bodies. . do you have a video of you completing them? Tag me, I would Be happy to take a look.
:) :) :)
