  • The Ohio Turnpike Commission activated its Ohio E-Z Pass system Thursday, which automatically withdrawals the toll payment through an onboard electronic transponder attached to your vehicle's visor when you pass through toll plazas.
The fees are deducted from drivers' accounts, paid either by credit card or through a link to a checking account.
Several states already use the E-Z Pass system - New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Massachusettes, New Hamisphere, and Vermont.
Vehicles with an E-Z Pass are exempt from the higher turnpike tolls, which also went into effect Thursday. Motorists who use cash will pay an even $15 in tolls from the Indiana to Pennsylvania state lines - and increase of $4.75.
