      @@QueerCollective super insightful, especially understanding the cultural role 2s identity plays.
      I feel like the druid identity is similar and have had elders encourage me to choose the path due to the expiriences ive had and ways i present

    Lol, I am in Alberta, and speak on the phone for a living, mostly international; when I get to speak to other Canadians, we often ask where each of us are from, I’ll say “Alberta, but I’m not completely evil” or something to that effect

    • @QueerCollective
      @QueerCollective  3 місяці тому +1

      Oh wow the Alberta stereotype is real lol “I’m not COMPLETELY evil” 😂

    Amazing video and podcast as always. I really loved this one though, hit home on a lot of important issues within Canada. Hearing their stories was amazing and they are such important voices for the community.

    Wawasalmegwadich niswaskome, n'wawa wakadonol. blessings Two spirits I know several. My grandmother taught me about two spirit when I was young and told me how lucky I'd be if I met any. I'm blessed to know a few closely.

    1:41, did you say "Fond du Lac"? As in Wisconsin? That is my hometown! I love y'all! OMG
    Edit: I googled Treaty 8. It is a different Fond du Lac

    There are many indigenous people who were separated from their families for so long that their family’s tribe don’t accept them back.
    Remember that you still have a spirit family that intuitively guides you from the heart to bring the worlds that rejected you back together through love.

    may your friend rest in eternal warmth. too many similar stories. Please shove it down our throats, we need to not forget or brush under the rug the seriousness of this issue. NO MORE MMIW. Love from MT.

    Hi there!! I love Queer Collective and look forward to your videos all the time. However, this one doesn’t have captains enabled and that’s inconvenient for me.
    I really depend on captains to follow along and I’d appreciate if you’d turn them on for us who need them. Okay? Thank you.

    It was horrible hearing what happened to Haley Robinson's friend. I don't really have any words for it, only that I hope that the friends loved ones - like Haley - always have people to support and help them in their grief.

    I wonder, if it would be better to remove 2S from 2SLGBTQI+ if indigenous communities feel there is a disconnection and misrepresentation on it being there?
    I also feel all the 2 spirited I have meet are part of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
    My understanding was that the 2S was at the front of the acronym to acknowledge that the indigenous communities are still being oppressed and marginalized in Canada. Also to acknowledge they were the first on this land.
    Edit: We only use 2SLGBTQI+ is only used in Canada. In America I seen LGBTQIA+ acronym instead.

      I think it depends on what you define as queer. For us, I think it goes beyond sexuality and gender. It’s an identity that you take on when you break out of societal norms

    • @DC_Study
      @DC_Study 2 місяці тому

      @@QueerCollective So you are associating queer and 2S are similar because they both break out of societal norms?
      I know a lot of folx don't like when cisgender heterosexual individuals call themselves queer as a form of allyship or when non-LGBTQ+ individuals use the term in place of 'strange' or 'odd,' because it takes away from the history and significance of the term within the 2SLGBTQI+ community and risks diluting its meaning as a space for those who have historically been marginalized.
      I personally identify as queer because my identity and sexuality span multiple categories within the 2SLGBTQI+ spectrum.

    I wonder if there’s a connection between neurodivergence and two spirit

    • @QueerCollective
      @QueerCollective  Місяць тому

      I don’t believe so?

    • @johnwinchester6934
      @johnwinchester6934 Місяць тому

      Every single person I have ever met or known that proclaim to be nonbinary, uses neo-pronouns, or says they are gender nonconforming have all been neurodivergent. But that is a very narrow perspective. I also believe the people claiming to be "two-spirit" or who go by fairy/fairyself (people who get to claim their trans without actually having to take any real societal steps towards transitioning) are actively harming trans people and should be ignored/excluded from the movement entirely. The non-binary - "you dont need to have disphoria to be trans" wing of lgbtq+ movement has and will continue to set back trans rights for years.
