I just got a Chinese 125 scooter it tops out at 50mph but It has more to give it, accelerates really quick any tip on making these scooters faster?

My 125cc went upto 84mph downhill lol normally pinning it will be around 75-76. I tested this in mexico of course.

I managed to hit 70 while slipstreaming a car on a slight incline on my DT lol

honestly if you want a faster bike don't buy a auto scooter. get a geared 125cc motorcycle.
Well that wasn’t very helpful at all. The bike is fast but I want it faster and to look better and if I wanted a different bike then I would of got one lol the Aura is a lovely looking bike and I’ve had it to 68 down portsdownhill, so I think it’s none to shabby for a 125 AUTO

Cheap by name, cheap by nature, a 2021 125 that struggled to get to 60mph! Holy shit, my 1976 honda CB 125 did 65 at the red line!.... Now that's progress 😂
This Aura is probably choked really bad from airbox to tail pipe.
My 19801 Honda CG125 was the same, got to 65 easy enough, but she was a revvin' lol
It's about the KW power of the engine not the cc.
the Aura is an excellent scooter , they dont clatter or knock on the road, really smooth over bumps, unlike the Titan/Sinnis Shuttle
Bought my Piaggio Medley 125 Oct 2021. Have got 71 out of it on flat road. Anyone out there beat this on a 125cc?
My Lexmoto Valencia is maxed out at 52mph and red lining.
Most 125’s inc scooters should be able to hit 60mph as how would you be able to use one on a bike test?!
Not really relevant to testing. At no point even in my A licence did I do 60mph. For a 125cc you likely only going to do a cbt, min bike on a cbt is a 50cc with a restricted 28mph top speed.
@@spicy110 Things have changed a great deal since passing my big bike test in 1998.
I passed on a Yamaha SR125 that I had to ride at the “speed of the traffic”, we rode on a dual carriageway doing 65mph.

It’s a real shame these gy6 engines dont get the same love here as they do and Asia ..these are the same engines they throw into Honda ruckus with more kits and wide wheels

Am quite surprised, back in the early 2000's i worked for a MC dealership in London Daytona Motorcycles, and had a chance to ride a few 125cc scoots, and they used to get to 65mph easy enough (Benelli, Aprillia etc) Yes they were 4 strokers, is this because of stricter emission laws, and, how easy is it to make the Aura do 65/70 Mph? 🤔🤔🤔
This and that, chinise bikes tend to be a bit under the power limits 10.3hp here but the limit is 15. However yes it is also down to euro 5 law very much.
@@spicy110 The Keeway RKF 125 has a motor designed by Benelli, and manages 60 easily.
Also don't forget these machines normally euro 5 and manufacturers need to play with the mixture to achieve that. Without worrying hitting Euro 5 target I mean a simple remap and free flow exhaust and they would do probably 65 or even 70 Without any internal work done.
I have one of these although mine has Ducati coarse sticker on it for some reason

85-90% of indicated seems to be the general rule in my experience so probably about 51-54. (Edited)

@@morganmitchell4017 I've only tested 3 bikes so not the best sample size but around 10% and up to 15% seems common from what I've seen myself and online. 2015 CB125F 15% off, 2015 MT-07 12%, 2018 Super Duke R 10% off.
@@6Twisted Fair. I was interested to know which bikes. I had a CB125F as well and that was off by slightly more than 10%. My current is a CB500F, and I'm wondering if I go up a tooth in the front whether it'll make the speedo more or less accurate.
@@morganmitchell4017 probably wouldn't affect the Speedo, speed is usually measured at the front wheel
That’s the problem of a 125cc from China only do around 55mph with a adult on them just not quick enough a paired to a Yamaha 70 mph
the problem is speed on the counter is not accurate, u should see the one on gps, for example on my sym jet 14 i got more than 60 mph but gps tell me 54 mph.... but i feel big difference when i drive it with a top box for food delivery and without it
It'll be reading at least 3mph over.
Even for 125 standards that's pitiful and I'd argue dangerous when you can't even do national speed limits and you can forget about making safe overtakes.
Strictly a city ride then. Seems pokey enough off the line for that up to 30

Just to put this into context. When I was a learner over 20 years ago. My Piaggio 80cc did 58mph flat out and got there a lot faster than this 125 did. It held it there even up hills too. Modern scooters are just wet junk. Most unrestricted 50cc scooters will do 40-50, so this ones a little crap for a 125. My RD125LC got to 90 in a flash and then onto over 100.

My old Pulse Adrenaline could hit and hold an indicated 70 on a flat.
Once got an indicated 80+ on a long downhill although it did overheat and cut out, that was fun.

Dude your speedo was not accurate.
Lexmoto use so heavy weights. Drop them down to around 10 to 12grams and it's alot perkier.

~10bhp from a 125 is pretty underwhelming tbh. I'd have thought that with modern engine design, water cooling, EFI, electronic ignition etc that it would be fairly easy to get at least 13-14bhp. But I guess that's where the £££ go when you buy a premium scoot ?
Yes if you want that sort of power out a scooter you will have to spend at least a grand more, for 4bhp. 14bhp is pretty underwhelming too haha
@@spicy110 True, but its ~40% more than the cheap ones ! And 40% more power in almost anything is going to be pretty noticeable.

@@brvk3n 5 has tighter emissions rules that often lead to less power.

My PCX would hit 65 mph no problem but as soon as you went uphill you would be quicker running 🤣 To be honest though, was the PCX worth the extra £1000 ? Don’t know enough about the Lexmoto to answer that.
This might do better with a normal size person on it to be fair. 6" 4 and 16st of me will slow it down somewhat haha cpx is a very popular scooter for good reasons but a grand could take if off the table for many so that's where these bikes come in.

I wish the Chinese company's would move from using that tired old air cooled GY6 engine. It just isn't up to modern standards..
its the one thing that really turned me away from getting a lexmoto, even like the LXR is underpowered especially for its size, I have a couple A roads on my way to work and it just wouldn't have done it for me.
I was tempted by the new Lemoto LXS because they have actually put a bit more power into the engine but theres nobody doing top speed runs for it.
In the end I just went and found a used CBR 125 for 1200 with 10 months MOT. only going to be using it a few months until I get my VFR 750 and then I can sell it for the same amount I bought it for.

@@RawTopShot Ooh I might look into that, the one I want is a 94 VFR750, It's the bike that made me want to get into motorcycles, and would probably be my forever bike, planning to tour on it and see some friends I have around europe once this whole pandemic clears up.
I do really like the first gen 800s though they are beautiful bikes and it would probably be my next choice for a forever bike if I don't get along with the 750.
I used to have an 87 VFR 400 but it needed too much work to get back on the road and I didn't have enough time, so I sold it to a family friend and he's currently restoring it.
@@thatwolffe3802 yup 4th gen 94 is nice. I almost went for one years back but then I spotted a clean white 90 which was a bit cheaper and closer to me than the black 94 I was originally looking at.
Have you considered a PC32 CB500 (late 97-2003) as a cheap stepping stone before you go VFR750?
CB500 is 57hp with the PC26 motor, it revs happily (very happily) to 10,500rpm (mega fun at 8k-10k). It's 183kg wet and powerful enough to give you arm pump until you get used to the torque.
Hammering it all day and still gets 50mpg.
The 90 vfr750 gets me 43mpg but it's over 230kg (fine on the move but hard work at rest moving it about)
VFR crazy 90mph in 2nd gear.
So much fun; but you have to keep an eye on the speedo, 90 in top feels like 50-60 as you're so well protected behind the fairing and at 90 in 6th it's not screaming.

it looks awful as it w filmed on an old jvc hi8 camcorder, and the riding isn't anything to get excited about unless you like sheep.
So the question remains, if the typical flow of traffic won’t let you run faster than 55-57 mph, you need a “commuter scooter” 🛵 that will run faster than 60 mph……why ? 🤪 I know, I’m going to hit with all the “It needs to be faster to be safe” remarks, but realistically isn’t a 125cc scooter 🛵 really designed for in town commuting 😉?!?!

That thing is painfully slow even for a 125.
So not recommended for motorways.
Not ideal but you can't ride on a motorways with a CBT anyway.
