Cutting Red Lentils

- ** Day 4 if cutting Red Lentils that I think are more green than red! 😂 🤷♂️
** Still working out some senor issues on the combines, but we do have all them up and running.
** I know, it's true.. We don't normally calibrate the combines nor grain carts because we don't feel wasting time. To calibrate a combine you must go until you fully full. Then stop call over a cart and then he ll take his weight and add yours to it. Then he ll tell how much weight you had and then you ve to punch it into the monitor. But that takes time away from harvest. And if the grain cart is off, then it's all off! Haha which the carts are, so then you have to do the same to the carts on a truck scale. It's just not worth our messing around to be honest. For what? So the combine ppl have an idea what's going? Why? Will change anything? No it won't 😂.. If they want to, they can figure that out easy, by the true mile test. 🙂
** Thanks Guys! 🙂 You are awesome

I cry when his videos end!! Lol
Look forward to next
@@henrylopez5252 me too
For the life of me I can’t figure out why I watch your videos. I farm myself and all of the UA-cam farmers drive me nuts. Except for you and I can only think it has to be your mix of humor and humility.
Thanks Random, I appreciate that 🙂
Join patreon and send him a few dollars then.
Indeed and he doesn't brag .
Your got got a fan from NZ, just love the way you lay it out for this mere mortal to understand how it all goes, May the Tons keep on coming,,
I wish you a great harvest.and thanks for the beautiful films and explanations.
Thanks Mike next time my Italian mother makes a really good lentil soup I’ll think about all of the grasshopper guts in it LOL
Take up as much time as you like Mike. Always a pleasure to sit and see what you are up to!
Thanks
Pete
Good morning Mike.. Thank you for the ride along.. Have a great Saturday ❤️
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your time in showing us your work. Love it. Amazing 👏
Watching from Australia, sittng by the fireside. Very interesting looking at your operation, thankyou for sharing.
Thanks for another great video Mike and team!
Happy that all 7 combines and the carts run so well on the red lentils! Also glad that the updates and maybe growing familiarity among the whole team, and possible sharing the good settings all seem to work out well. More and more you know what works well, like how to avoid rocks getting pass the barriers and cause any harm internally in the machines by choosing the right settings with height and angle of the honeybee headers mounted at those machines. Possible also cause you get it cleaned well every single day so that the dirt can't do much harm in the machine or cause fire or whatsoever. Crop looks good. Happy for you.
Thanks for sharing Mike and y’all be safe and we hope y’all have a great harvest!!
Mike you’re the very few one in YT that I can hit like button before even seeing the video - all of your vids been absolutely fantastic; funny, fast and informative. Keep’em coming! Greetings from 🇫🇮!
Absolutely fascinating how many variables there are to deal with, love your vids 👍👍🚜🚜💨
Looks like a beautiful day of weather for combining.
Great video Mike
Mike Mitchell, welker farms, millennial farmer, and brians farming vids are my absolute favourite youtube channels... thank you for taking the time to teach us some in and outs of farming and what you guys deal with
Don’t forget farming fixing and fabricating
Andy is the real deal
Try Larson, they're fun too...
I love Andy! I used to work for nuhn so it was cool seeing that equipment on the farm, and he puts so much detail into his work, im really sorry I forgot to mention him
welkers, MF and BFV are just commercials for the sponsors.
I must admit Larson's are becoming my favorites
Love the machine name! Thanks for the video Mike.
and I could actually watch you drive that combine all day from the operators perspective. Nothing being done here so watching you thrash those lintils scratches that itch for me. lol
Beautiful work work Mike..
Thanks Mike you're an all right guy love the video keep them up
Awesome video as always Mike 👍 . I hope you'll hop on to the 9T & bring us up to date with the ride quality of the track system. Watching from Kenya in East Africa !
That field
is seemingly never ending
Thx for the lesson on lentils. Very helpful, not familiar with the at all. Thx again!! Be safe you guys 👍👍👍👍👍
Mike & the Mitchell Family, Shout out from Amarillo, TX! Finally caught up on all the vids, keep ‘em coming, much appreciated \m/\m/
That's an impressive sight, all 7 lined up to start a huge field.
Luke Augustus - I think that was the same combines on Mikes farm last year
@Luke Augustus mate. Check that video again and you will see two combines with Canadian flag and black flag. That's Mike's fleet worked in that video :)
Greetings from lithaunia hey Mike. Your big harvesting is awesome. Upload more harvest. :-):-)
Excellent camera work. Super interesting. I farm but not like that
I love this channel!
Thanks Mike!
Mike love your humor
Keep showing us what you and your family farm
Your videos are never long enough
Where’s your feather and headband?
Very interesting video. Keep it up!
Kinda cool how these things drive themselves almost lol
I like the way you think man !!!!!! YOUR awesome abet you have alot knowledge to talk about
Could watch this all day
Great video again!
You are really making great videos!!!
Grasshoppers in the Field
GLASShoppers 🐜 after they go thru 🚜 Combine 😂😂😂
Just happen to see your video about fire. Then got interested if more videos. Enjoy the straight forward talk.
Grasshopper Guts. Thanks for sharing! 😂
I've noticed the further south the farmer drives the combine, the taller the crops are.
Mike, you shuld do some night videos from the cab. Always loved those. Something cosy abut a cab at night.
Mad Mike ... you crazy Drescherpilot 😂😂 nice to see getting fast forward as always. Overhere the wheatharvest is almost done. We had also a Fendt 8t for demo here...oh boy...if you where around...we have seen the local ambulance m, im quite sure
Great video thanks
20 or 200 minutes will Watch both if it comes from you
I can watch these videos all day because everything Mike says is useful information about how these incredible machines are operated and how the farm works it's amazing
I love watching these, could spend an hour. Don’t worry about video length
Far as I know most lentils and especially red lentils come from Canada. I'm from Bulgaria and we regularly buy packs of red lentils since they are much easier to cook and way tastier. Kinda neat to see hwere they actually come from and who harvests 'em. Good work!
It's also kind of neat to hear from someone who eats the lentils. Around here we don't, not sure why. Do you cook them with something or how are they prepared?
@@farmcentralohio it’s as simple as chucking them in boiling water along with chopped onion, carrot, maybe sometimes bell pepper and lots of spices and salt and cloves of garlic. Then you simmer it until everything is cooked through. Oddly, hwen the lentils get cooked, they end up looking pale yellow.
@@Kryndon64 Thanks
Holly crap that’s a really clean sample
And some are cleaner, just about seed it out, no joke.... On a 150k bushels, we avg: .6% Dockage and no splits. That's crazy.. At least for lentils, so we are quite happy with that down here for us.
👍Have a good & safe day BRO👍
Thanks for your video
Great stuff mike, gotta work hard to get those lentils off, i talked to my brother, he says hineybee told him that theyre making a 60ft, hope youre gonna get it
Awesome !!!
Keep em coming
The sheer industrial scale of this kind of farming is quite astounding. Single fields that seem to stretch all the way to the horizon.
En Matro Groso Brasil, Kasajstan, Australia, Santiago del estero Argentina tambien los hay.
I grew up on a little farm which was about 30 acres in total so this is amazing to watch.
There are farmers breeding bugs as an alternative protein source, soo just pick them out and sell them on !!!!! Farming in south west of the UK where a combine is not an every day sight and with 17ft to 20ft headers to then see one of yours with a 50ft header is amazing. But to then see 7 of them queing to get into a field leaves me speechless. Great vids Mike,
You have 7 combines going why so few ? lol. Thanks for sharing your days..
Only 2 miles long and 1800 acres , is that all 😂😂😂, great video mike and btw you never take up to much of our time 👍
Again with the bushels ;) haha Enjoying the vids Mike.If you're ever in Australia, hit me up.
I was kinda sad when he said it was over
Getter done Mike
Sure those grasshoppers don’t up the protein? Maybe the elevator should pay out a bonus! 🦗🧃
Looks like the Grasshoppers will be boosting the yields
We grow large greens. Grasshoppers everywhere here too. RM Caledonia
Watching from Victoria, Australia- great videos Mike
I'm not against videos of 50 minutes Mike! Just saying.. lol
Excellent video! One square miles contains 640 acres called a "Section".
Mike thank you for sharing the farming life on UA-cam, a lot of people take for granted how food shows up in the store
Watching from South Africa
Mike you need a designate window washer & cleaner for for the build up [ I use to have that job ] Hope you have a great harvest
I agree I watch this all day. You really explained a lot. And if I had a bucket list I wish I could spend the day riding with you. I don't think you want to put up with an old woman. It seems like I've been hearing a lot about a lot of grasshoppers all over the world in the news. God bless you all. And I mean your whole family and crew. Oh did you get the combine that caught on fire back up and going?
I would say going back for those green lentils once they dry down would be the perfect job for the old Massey combine. haha
That's a BIIIIIG grain cart....
Saskatchewan baby!
Mike, great channel break content. Let me start out saying I’m not a farmer but I love watching these videos and other channels (guys you well know) I live the pro and cons video’s probably the best honest (not being in the industry) I have seen. I don’t see Claas, is that just due to not close dealers? What are your thoughts on Claas. Thank you and all in the farm industry for feeding the world!
17 or 1800 acre field! Still can't get over the size of your fields or your farm or your machines!
Badgers are awesome!
14:20 "This is like a 17 or 1800 acres field"
I looked it up - 728ha??? Wtf! Im from Germany, I dont even think there is a field in Germany that is bigger than 500ha/1235acres.
1800 acres is sooo huge.
nice!
Mike I’ve always been curious as to how many total acres y’all farm on? It seems like it is never ending! Great video keep them coming! Hope y’all have a great harvest this year.
they crop 40000 acres
When we get done bush hogging (15 ft bat wing mower) we kick of the grass and hose it down, because if we didn't the grass will collect rain water and eventually rot the desk out.
Like your favorite TV show when it comes to the end....your like Nooooooooo!!
Mike great video thanks and i am sure you have said but do you guys rotate crops thanks have a great day be safe.
I like the machine name "sexy Mama" 🤣🤣
Ashtyn is probably happier that you grew “Case Lentils” rather than “John Deere Lentils”🤣😂
Ha! 😂 That could be!
i would love to come and work on your farm for the summer one year... shame I live in the UK 🤔
Just found your channel Mike, and enjoy it very much. Your very entertaining and informative. One video you were talking about equipment fires. On those combines, I think my best friend would be an hand held inferred camera. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks H
Thats a pretty clean combine bunk,is it becouse its easy to combine or do the fendt combines do a good job?
Another great video Mike keep on rollin
Grasshoppers are just extra protein for your diet LMFAO
How this year harvest going compared last year n I know use to run JD combines, are saving fuel n time?
Mike, Are you gonna buy the new Fendt 1167 vario mt? Maybe for the graincart or seeding drills? They get introduced August the 21th! (I thought) I really like how you explain to us what you are doing and looking for! Keep up the good work!
Hi Mike, i don't miss a vid ,excellent , Mike how many full time staff have you & where do they all stay ??
Can you guys combine at night? It depends here on the crop and how much moisture has set in. Usually when it is getting dark it starts getting tough to knock out the beans or wheat. We can shell all night if you have the trucks and bins to put it in. With 7 combines and a 50 foot head you guys can fill up 10 trucks in no time.
I just found your channel I love it . I have so many questions ? How big is the field ?
Welcome! Umm, that particular field is a section 640ac
I saw you making your video on your grain operators tiktok 😂
I know.. I did too, it was funny
How are the Brent wagons working? Best brand for the job?
Nice lennels
I guess the engineers didn’t update the hopper load light to flash a different colour depending on how full the combine was
With all that technology and touchscreens in today's equipment, you would think the tractors could watch exactly how full each of the combines was at any given time on a monitor/ipad. Should be simple to implement in both software and hardware. Then they just have to figure out which one is "sexy mama" and which one is "chopped liver". :-)
@@ITubeTooInc Just add a map in it where every combine is shown in realtime with a little text next to it saying the name and the current filling level, maybe ad a red circle around the one with the highest.
You could even add the state of harvest so the driver could easily see the fastest way to every combine.
There's soo much room for improvment. :D
@@ITubeTooInc that is definitely a thing
@@Daxelinho9 Driverless grain cart tractors systems has already been in development by AG automation companies for a few years and are currently prototyped.
A few years into the future, there will probably not be any grain cart drivers anymore on these big operations. This will also help with the problem of getting skilled extra labor during harvest.

How do you keep your lentils so clean
im guessing when the X9 comes out youll be using them... youll probably need 6 or 7 of them!!
