I always found it pretty disturbing when I worked at companies and they would say things like, "We're family. We are here to help you out," or "The door is always open," or "We are trying to win." But then when it comes to the evaluations, they will say things like, "No one gets a five-star. You always have something you need to improve on," which was crazy to me.
We'd love to hear your thoughts below on tech employee burnout. Also, if you know of someone who can benefit from this clip, please share it with them. Thanks.
20:10 That's how I kind of feel about most whistleblowers or leakers nowadays. If you go work somewhere like a government job with the CIA, you know you're going to be getting into some dirty work, but if you take that job knowing you're getting into dirty work just to turn around and start passing off those documents, it looks a little odd to me. Like Snowden, I haven't looked too much into them, but they look at him as a hero, but he wouldn't work with some classified documents and decided that he had to defect. I'm not the smartest man in the world, but I know if I'm working with the government or any security firm, then I know they're going to be surveilling and watching people that they feel are a threat to the United States.
I wouldn't want A.I to be involved in the suicide hotline. I think in those situations it requires a high level of empathy and someone who truly understands what death is in order to talk someone down. Maybe taking notes and just summarizing, but all that is anonymous anyway, so I probably wouldn't be good at that either.
